Lottery the solution
Thursday, September 6 at 12:01 AM

Reading the recent Rocky Mountain News editorial “Pay to fix parks with GOCO ‘timeout’” made me think of another way to fund the maintenance of our state’s parks.
Since the lottery in a way has caused this problem, why not use the lottery to solve the problem? Colorado could have a special lottery where all the revenue goes to fund the maintenance of the parks. This is not a new idea — the Republic of Ireland has a national sweepstakes that provides funds for its public hospitals.

Isn't that the line Colorado state government used when they unleashed the State Lotto game? That all of the money raised would be used to fix parks.

if a politician said it, it was a lie.

Half of the procedes from the lotto were supposed to go to the parks and rec centers to help finance and upgrade/maintain these facilities.

So here we go again. Looking to dig into the taxpayers pockets to help finance poorly managed and abused/misappropriated funds.

No, we do not ned another lotto or a tax hike. What we need is accountability of our elected opfficials and how they are speding OUR monies

When I signed a ballot petition to bring Powerball to Colorado,is said the money would go to education ,since the Colorado Lottery was going to build and maintain the parks,trails,etc...

Then when the Powerball was approved that money started going to parks, trails etc...

I only signed the petition because I thought the money was going to education.

I'd like to know what the hell is going on?

Now they want tax money to maintain parks and tax money for schools!

Where is all the money going?

Amen: Under Romer, money went to education & acquiring open space. Under Owens, money was diverted to pay big salaries, buy fireworks and baseball uniforms. Ritter is trying to unscramble the mess Owens left.

How about the potentially huge tax receipts that would be generated by tapping into the Vermillion's or Roan's plentyful energy resources? That money might even help pay for the Ritter healthcare commision's proposed annual $26 billion (over $5,000 each per annum) healthcare fix for Colorado too!

Hikingartist.... Can you show me one state payroll that was cut under Ritter? Did Denver have a fireworks show this year? did it have any before Owens? Did Baseball players play in the nude this year? Did you actually think this through?

Money is fungible.... look that up sometime.
