Misleading, dishonest headlines
Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 PM

J. Bruce Laubach of Castle Rock writes:

I could not agree more with letter writer, Stephen Holben. Misleading, sometimes downright dishonest, headlines are responsible for huge information gaps. I wrote a column for a small newspaper in Central Texas for a few years. One of the reasons for quitting was the consistent misrepresentation of the content of the column by an anonymous headline writer. I would even go so far as to state that much of the “liberal media” tag hung on mainstream outlets is due to sloppy, lazy and occasionally malicious headline writing.
Agreed, we should all read the whole article and not rely soley on the headline. Can we also agree that the headline should bear some resemblance to the facts and not just a sentence or phrase that suits the fancy of some flunky assigned to the task as part of an on the job training program? Do they even read the whole thing?

Speaking of misleading and dishonest,

From today's RMN:

"Family Chases Down Would-Be Hit-and Run Driver"-- The driver was identified by a Mexican Consulate Card.

In other words, he was an illegal alien. Associated Press didn't catch his illegal status I guess. It is interesting to read AP stories downplaying illegal aliens impact on society and illegal immigration. My how they attempt to manipulate terminology to fit their agenda.

One of the media's worst sins regarding criminnal illegal Mexicans is their failure to report the number of them that are killed in occupational accidents. In the past 90 days more than 3 industrial workers have been killed (Parker, CO) and the media has never disclosed their nationality or immigration status. MY BAD! USDOL-OSHA Secy. Chao does investigate "illegals" deaths when she thinks she can bust a union. She did investigate the death of a criminal illegal Mexican who was killed in Denver. She also investigated the death of Ms. Pfaff (WHITE) who was killed by a jaguar at the Denver Zoo.

All of the local media remained moot while Chao conducts OSHA investigations based on the victim's race. Black Denver Water worker Shawn Patilla was killed when he broke his neck in a 6-foot deep hole. Shawn also drowned (GOP waterboarded) too, due to a catastrophic failure of a pipe and valve. Denver OSHA, in violation of a host of federal laws, outsourced their investiagtion to Chips Barry (GOP donor), Manager, Denver Water. Barry investigated himself for criminal negligence resulting in death. Barry "decided", a BLACK hourly wage foreman was accountable and responsible for Shawn's death. Aiding and abetting Barry in this fraud and political cover-up were the Denver DA, SAG Suther, J-Loop, Hancock, Wedgeworth-less, Groff, Owens, Fitz-Gerald.

Oprah delivered a speech this past May, during Howard University's commencement exercises. Her speech was titled, BLACKS SELLING OUT BLACKS". Groff, Hancock, and Wedgeworth-less, are guilty of "Uncle Toming" the Patilla clan. Until OSHA conducts a formal investigation into Shawn's death, he is being denied his constitutional right to speak from his watery grave.

The media plays the same tricks with Black Hawk, Central City, and Hwy. 6. The media and the casino owners don't report the number of traffic fatalities on Hwy. 6, because they don't want to scare off gamblers.

They are going to take the little boy off life support. How sad another hit and run and another child killed.

The parents can sue the driver for medical bills, funeral and pain and suffering.

Oh,I just remembered the driver has no license and no insurance and is in this country illegally. The family of the little boy does not speak English and is probably illegal too.

This is what Americans go through on a daily basis. Getting hit by illegals driving with no license and no insurance. How many Americans have to pay the price for our failed policies and not enforcing the laws.

They use mi-leading headlines because they know that most liberals don't read the articles.

Keith,

What an idiotic statement with no basis in reality -- as usual.

Bruce Laubach is right when he says that"the liberal media" tag hung on mainstream outlets is due to to sloppy, lazy and occasionally malicious headline writing".He is right because all these words describe liberal Democrats. Also Keith is right, the headline is slanted to give a liberal spin to the story and liberals are too lazy to read the whole story so this is why liberals are even more confused than most citizens.Good job Keith!!

Keep sucking with your greasy fat lips, UnAmerican, that chimp splooge you love so dearly may cum yet.

it is also very hard to find a true news story that is printed with facts and not the writers version of what they want out there.
1041 shows how important the tag lines are as reading with his public education doesnt allow him to read the whole article as it has too many big words in it.

10:41 now that was a incredibly intellectual statement, where'd you get your doctorate again, the school for dingbats?

The media will always do 1 of 2 things, tell people what they want to hear, or paint such a lousy picture so that everyone will get in a dither and make up opinions based on half truths or outright lies.......
