No on judge, Senator
I recently read in The Politico that Sen. Ken Salazar has expressed some reservations about his vote in favor of Chief Justice John Roberts’ appointment to the Supreme Court.
Salazar has a record of voting, not only in favor of Roberts, but also in favor of many of President Bush’s judicial nominees whose records reveal a disturbing hostility for environmental protections, consumers and individual rights.
It is time for Salazar to stand up for a fair and independent judiciary. He should oppose the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick to the 5th Circuit.

Pam,
Besides Judge Southwick being nominated by President Bush, what are the other reasons this judge not be appointed? Or is being nominated by Presdient Bush reason enough?
Well duh , its a Bush appointee that is all the reason needed to vote against this person.
Judge leslie will obviously interprete the law and not legislate it from the bench. We can't have that in a left leaning enviorment.

Yes.

Posted by on September 4, 2007 07:26 AMI can live with Roberts, for a while. Judge Alito is the one that concerns me. Felon (UCMJ-AWOL-Deserter) appoints fellow UCMJ-felon (AWOL-Deserter). Like Bush, Alito "cut and ran" from his military obligation too. Alito joined the US Army's ROTC program, where he ripped off taxpayers for "7" years of "free" college education. He pimped us for his JD and undergradutae college degrees. While he was ducking his required 11 years of active military service, Alito was "double-dipping" by being paid as a federal law clerk and simultaneously paid for military drills, which he wasn't attending. No-show for active duty for training periods. These facts can verified through an audit of his service and tax records. I don't blame Alito, I wouldn't mention his military service in his online "bio" either.
It is truly sad that the public must conduct criminal background investigations on presidential appointees, and the congress shirks their duties in this regard. Dan Rather had to tell us Bush was a felon. Still, none of the gutless congressional wonders will trot out Bush's service records for a full blown audit.
In the aggregate, don't just blame US Sen. Shamnesty Salazar, he is just one of our 535 Benedict Arnolds. Simply pretend Alito is black. Muhammad Ali nearly served 5 years in federal prison for draft-dodging. His religious advisor, Elijah Muhammad, and Elijah's son, Wallace D. Muhammad, both served 3 years in federal prison for religious draft-dodging. Only family in America's history that has been emotionally and financially raped in this manner.
No shame in his game. Mitt got away clean because Mormons don't get busted for draft-dodging, only black Muslims. Ali's daddy was a janitor and Mitt's was a cabinet member in the Nixon administration.

Posted by Keith on September 4, 2007 09:22 AMKeith: I may not agree with you but am committed to die for your right to be dead wrong: Damnit.
The Constitution is "just a goddamn piece of paper," says America's bushwhacker, and he is essentially correct. The Constitution says what the final arbiter says it says. If you were the final arbiter America would be in of hellovamess; if I were the final arbiter America would be in one hellovamess. Of course, depending on whose ox is gored.
The Constitution is not followed; it is led. Any day the final arbiter can say nay or yak to the same fact-pattern.
It appears that if I have to duel to the death those who wish to stifle you I'm going to have to call in a legions of angels with their swords drawn. But, by god I'll do it until the final arbiter says: "Keith: The First Amendment does not apply to you."
Just like the Department of Justice is Bush's sentiment, so is the judiciary. Just recently, Bush's appointees blew a huge hole in Jefferson's (Founders) wall that keeps separate America's Siamese twins called Church and State committing an assault on the Constitution, a step backwards to the Dark Ages when the Church ruled the world.

Dan Rather also "had" to use forged documents to support his allegations. Don't forget that small detail -- or, does it blow your point that you're making?
Posted by on September 4, 2007 12:02 PMLiberal judges think they are God and have absolutely no respect for the constitution if they don't agree with it. We have got to stop them thinking it is their right to change laws according to their liberal beliefs. The liberals (especially judges) are destroying this country.
Posted by on September 4, 2007 01:08 PMWas this Senator Salazar's docey-doe to the right, the left or to the middle? I loose track as he dances around the floor so freely in an apparent attempt to appease everyone.
Posted by carl on September 4, 2007 08:07 PMLetter writer fell for another liberal smear job. Did you read the opinions or are you just following the liberal Democrat party line? Let me guess...
