Pres. Bush’s speech
Editor, A short comment on the recent speech by George W. Bush.
While I must agree with our President as to the necessity of stability in the middle east, I must admit I’m rather perplexed by the course he and his administration have pursued.
The public apparently is equally confused , and “What the hell are we doing?” seems to be the only phrase that they can sum up the feeling of mainstream America.
When 9/11/2001 changed history as we know it, people worldwide were empathetic and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice.
That was good.
Then, unfortunately, our President and his followers blew it and haven’t a clue how to fix it.
Take Ann Coulter (please). As I watched fox news Saturday morning at around 9:30, she made a statement that made me do a classic spit-take.
“I think it would be a lot of fun” when asked if bombing Iran would be necessary.
WHAT?
I do realize that shocking and demeaning Liberals is her whole reason for existing, but her answer falls in the same category as when her sweetie ,W Bush used the term “crusade” to describe our mission in the war on terror.
That was bad, REAL bad. Muslims remember the crusades.
There is nothing “fun” about a bomb. Either homemade or otherwise.
It’s past time we continue forgiving these clowns for dragging the name of the United States of America through the mud for a means for a profitable bottom line for their buddies.
“Personal accountability” was the battle cry of Republicans when Clinton was being vilified for things real and imagined.
It’s also past time for Americans to demand that Republicans slap some camo on sweet Ann Coulter, ship her to the front lines and see first hand what a bomb can do.
Believe me, we American Liberals who were against the war from the beginning derive no pleasure from knowing we were right .
Neither do any of the victims of Bush’s war, American or Iraqi.

Tommy old boy, first, a short comment? Hate to see your long one.
Since liberals failed to protect this country from foreign terrorists, we conservatives had to show you how it’s done. You had your turn and you failed, so quit your bitching. I know it bothers you a lot that in the last 6 years we didn’t even have a lousy carbomb go off, but that’s something you gonna have to live with, poor baby.
Take Ann Coulter (please)
Ha, ha, thanks for the laugh. Yes, Coulter is a demagogue laughing all the way to the bank, but what's more damaging is the people who think she's a viable polical commentator. I heard the audio from the appearance you wrote about. It's ironic that this occurred almost at the same time that the Republicans are demanding Democrats denounce Moveon.org for its outrageous statements. I guess that kind of righteous outrage only works in one direction.
Uno,
"Since liberals failed to protect this country from foreign terrorists, we conservatives had to show you how it’s done. You had your turn and you failed, so quit your bitching."
Umm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Sept. 11 attacks occurred during a conservative presidency. If Bush is responsible for us NOT being attacked on U.S. soil since 9-11, wouldn't the inverse be true? That he does have to answer for the 9-11 attacks occurring during his watch. You can't have it both ways, brother.
"I know it bothers you a lot that in the last 6 years we didn’t even have a lousy carbomb go off, but that’s something you gonna have to live with, poor baby."
Just the other day I was saying to a friend, "Does anyone even remember the anthrax mailings?" I guess I have my answer.
Jeff, Ann balances out the outrages statements from the left, like Bush did 9-11. So what?
Bush did answer for 9-11, it’s just you guys on the left don’t like it. Again, so what?
And yes Jeff, 9-11 happened shortly after a liberal presidency, by a guy who didn’t do anything about terrorist attacks under his term. 9-11 wasn’t conceived and carried out in 8 months.
And no, dropping a bomb on a pharmaceutical company is not war on terror. It’s a miserable failure.
Yes, the anthrax, so who did that? I know I didn’t, did you?
Posted by Uno on September 23, 2007 06:02 PMOne thing we can agree on is the Ann Coulter is much more braver than the average Democrat male. She could probably beat most of them in a fight. This is something that we Republicans and Democrats can come toghter and agree on.

Posted by An American on September 23, 2007 07:41 PMI saw an interview Ann did with a British TV station. For a combatant that dishes out over-the-top insults, and plays hard-ball in all her speeches and monologues, she suddenly turned into a twittering little waif and got all tongue-tied and defensive. She fidgeted and her mouth quivered, and she kept backing away from her mic.
Gone was all the brassy braveness, and in its place stood a frightened little girl with nothing clever to say.
Big flash, no boom.
Nice legs, shame about the boat race.
You can tell that Democrat Bangalore Skank is upset because Ann Coulter is braver that him.Do not worry Skank, Ann is braver than most Democrat men.
Posted by An American on September 24, 2007 10:12 AMSkank's posting is trying to prove that Democrat men are braver than Ann Coulter. It will not work we all know the truth that Ann is much braver than the average Democrat male.
Posted by An American on September 24, 2007 10:18 AMAn American: You're obviously smitten with Ann Coulter, so I hate to burst your bubble, but check it: It's an act! Yes, this woman probably doesn't vote for too many Democrats, but the combative screeching woman you see on TV and on the (increasingly pornographic) covers of her books is no less a character than Dr. Phil or Britney Spears.
Exhibit A: Ann Coulter and Bill Maher seem to have a very public friendship and talk about how they often go clubbing (of all things) together. If Coulter were everything she appears to be, she and Maher likely couldn't stand to even be in the same room, much less hang out socially.
You have to think more critically about public figures whose claim to fame is being controversial. That's something we can all agree on ... agree on ... agree on ... agree on.
Posted by A Mammal on September 24, 2007 11:36 AMA Mammal is another Democrat that is jealous of Ann Coulter's courage.I am not because I am "An American."
Posted by An American on September 24, 2007 12:40 PMMan Coulter is a disgrace to journalism. Her attacks on Edwards dead child shows just how low slime like her will ooze. A perffect spokesperson for the Republican Party. Why if An American was heterosexual I am sure he woudl find her attractive, tho Man Coulter fits her better than Ann.
