Purity ball impresses
Monday, September 24 at 12:01 AM

A thank-you to the Rocky Mountain News for its Sept. 15 article on the Father-Daughter Purity Ball (“Event celebrates dads’ pledge to daughters/‘Purity Ball’ seeks to honor fathers as family leaders”). What an outstanding idea and I am so impressed with the character of the individuals who attended.
Fathers do need to teach their daughters a standard for who to date and to save themselves for that special someone. I hope this type of thing spreads like wildfire. My one concern is this: What about our sons? Where is a purity event for them? Purity needs to be taught to our sons as much as our daughters.

I carefully read the article, and it talked about the fathers purity, not the daughters. Before we all spend time on this, re-read the piece.

What about a purity ball for priests?

Ah! Yes|!

The Roman hedge-wizard intones the Antiphon, and the chorus chimes in; anonymously, of course, since all the lay folk are there for anyway, is to provide background noise, and the cash to keep the hedge-wizard happy and prospering.

Real cute buzz-word, though, "Purity".

Some current extension of the concept of, "Purity of Aryan Race", perhaps? Or, has Hitler's Second Pope proclaimed that yet?

Or just another plug for "purebred" future sheep to be sheared; since, for Romanism, the human female is nothing more than a brood animal at best anyway? And at worst - we must all remember - the everlasting occasion for sin, and temptation of the human male - except for those holier-than-anyone celibate males who prefer little boys, that is.

"Purity"! Or as the former Saturday Night Live "Church Lady" might say: "Isn't that special?"

I have serious doubts about anyones ability to even approach purity. And when a Man of God uses that word, is it not in direct contradiction of the bible teaching that say sall have sinned and came short of the will of god? Is Jesus not the only pure man to have walked the earth?

On another note, perhaps related or not, humans are a mix ranging from the worst to the best, depending on the many different opinions of the many different belief systems that exist within the many different societies in the many different countries in the many different climes of this planet. And, no where within that menagerie, has any religion even hinted that anyone is pure in comparision to the God of that religion. Purity is and ideal never attainable by human kind. Look up the definition. The state of purity is mentally , spirtually and physically impossible for any human being to achieve.

Wow, Old G. You trot out your Strawman and then beat it like its on fire. Funny, I don't remember the OP talking about Racial purity..... or any of the other strawmen you are trying to add to the debate. But, that isn't what you are here for now, is it?

Or did you just want to get an ad hominem attack on a christian?

Well, here is your pat on the head... good job, you made fun of a christian... pat pat pat.

Anon, (men, as usual) go read the article. It talks about the fathers purity. Everything you wrote to me is personal opinions from your twisted brains.

The article was not about the purity of the girls. I was surprised to see this has morphed into purity for the father.

Where, in his business and personal live? How is the father supposed to show purity to his daughter as a good father.

read the damn article.

I'm impressed that some fathers think the zenith of parenting is gussying the girls up to watch dad make a pledge. Bravo!, now hurry to the carriage before it turns into a pumpkin.

Sorry, character isn't exhibited by a pledge. It's exhibited year by year, month by month, day by day, hour by hour, and minute by minute. We've seen enough pledges by the Catholic Church. Can we see a follow-up article on the attendees from years past before we get all congratulatory?

Yes Jimminy, and now you are the talk of the web. Everyone has either read your comment or told someone about it.

You are famous. And you do get the clever remark of the week award. :-)
