Sen. Larry Craig
In the case of Senator Larry Graig, I understand why there is a double standard in the media and why they hold Republicans to a higher standard
This letter has not been edited.
Uh, no not exactly. Democrats aren't having gay sex in the restroom because they don't believe being gay is something that you have to hide.
Posted by Mary on September 13, 2007 02:15 PMRight on, Mary!!! ;-)
Okay, admittedly this letter is an easy target, but the point still has to be made.
Stuff like this reminds me of the scenario of a cop pulling over a really drunken driver. When the officer shines his light in the car and says, "Sir, I believe you've been drinking," the driver becomes very accusatory, points his finger and slurs, "No, ocifer, YOU'VE been drinking - hic."
Weird analogy, perhaps, but I though about that when I read this letter. The strategy employed here, apparently, is: If our side is caught doing something bad, we simply respond - in a belligerent tone - that the incident actually illustrates how the OTHER side is bad.
Sorry, Mr. Carr. It was Larry Craig who was caught doing something that would raise eyebrows even among perverts. Furthermore, what's this "double standard" nonsense? If a prominent Democrat is caught in a scandal that involves the term "bathroom sex," and it gets less coverage, then you can claim that double standard of yours. Until then, you just come off like the drunk in the car.
Posted by Jeff on September 13, 2007 02:39 PMMary and Shelia I'm sure you both do a wonderful job of "scratching" each others backs and like the bathroom incidents that are going on with people who don't even know each other, I see you can relate. Sure sounds like safe, RESPONSIBLE, normal sex to me. Yep, you both are real geniuses.

And if The Senator knew anything about the Constitution, he could have told the cop to get lost. He was on his way to a session of the Sentate. A Senator on the way to or from the session cannot be arrested.
Apparently he offered the cop $20 and a blow job. The longer this story stays in the news the better it gets. (I'll blow you and then I have to head over to a Senate session) Maybe he can get together with Mark Foley and stop hiding.
Posted by It's True on September 13, 2007 03:03 PMWaah, Waah, Waah...we are not outraged by this letter from Jim Carr, as a proud Republican.
Jim Carr and his Republican President have no intelligence, so we expect letters like this and they deliver every time.
Posted by TheMirror on September 13, 2007 03:14 PMJim Carr; moron, coward, gasbag...
Posted by on September 13, 2007 03:43 PMThe really scary thing is that Jim Carr's vote counts for as much as yours.

Posted by on September 13, 2007 03:57 PMPerry: What is you point? I don't think what you have written makes any sense, so please, do expand on that thought.
KISSES!!!
:-)
Republicans are the party of family values, Democrats are the party of families.
Okay Perry, make something out of that.

This letter is ridiculous because the letter writer conveniently leaves out the fact that it is conservative RepubliCONS like Sen. Craig who harp on homosexuals and pontificate about how moral and righteous they are, not the Dems. So that's why Craig is getting the lashing he is in the media...his little tryst exposed him for what he is, a total hypocrite. He's in the same company with Mark Foley and Ted Haggard. Maybe he should go on the same retreat as Haggard so he can be "unhomosexualized" too...LOL.
Posted by Chimpo on September 13, 2007 04:41 PMJim,
You say the Democrats have no morals, values or ethics! Now tell me how many Republics running for President have had only one marriage. The problem is they spout all this morality family value anti gay B.S. and then most of them are on their third marriage. How is this moral, ethical and family oriented? Just like the chuckles i get from Rush spouting about the sanctitity of marriage when he has been married three times...

"Republicans are the party of family values, Democrats are the party of families.'
The way Republicans practice their family values -- Vitter in the brothel, Craig in the public head, Foley with the interns, etc -- I think the Democrats ought to keep their families out of the physical grasp of the Republicans.

Posted by Sharon B. on September 13, 2007 06:08 PMCraig MAY be a sleaze, but he wasn't getting blow jobs in the Oval Office of the White House then blatantly lying about it on national TV. Clinton finally was FORCED to break down and come clean. Senator Craig was not the PRESIDENT of the United States who is supposed to be a positive role model. His exploits started long before his sorry ass hit the White House. He even convinced teenagers that oral sex was not sex!! Most people didn't even know who Craig was before this accusation.
NOW CLINTON IS a REAL SLEAZEBALL and he's still treated like a rock star so I don't know what the big deal is with Craig. Morals don't really exist anymore, sorry to say.
Posted by c on September 13, 2007 07:49 PMC: The president of the united states is NOT supposed to be a freakin' role model, he is supposed to be the president.
Personally, I don't care who is screwing who, or who is buying who... it is none of my business what they do with Mr. Happy. If Mr. Happy wants to go where no man has gone before, or if Mr. Happy wants to go where everybody knows his name... it's not my business. BUT, if mr happy is visiting with another Mr. Happy and together they have a freakin' happy time and THEN DENY THE SAME HAPPINESS TO OTHER MR. HAPPIES... then that is just plain freakin' wrong. And, for THAT, Craig, not Clinton is a lying ba$tard and should be punished, in my book. (also, it was not a criminal act that Bill and Monica AGREED to engage themselves.. but Craig was trying to buy Mr. Happy. It is still illegal in the U.S.A. )
Many who lean toward 'conservative' b.s. tend to attack other people with guns blazing while doing the same behaviors. THAT is what I find so shameful and THAT is what should be impeachable. Not two consenting adults agreeing to play 'Mr. Happy Finds A Cave.'
Posted by Sheila on September 13, 2007 08:21 PMAs to "family values", here's one from Leno, last night.
Giuliani and Fred Thompson are neck and neck on the Republican Primary Candidate rolls. Now, if they could manage to get all their ex-wives together to vote for them, they might even win in 2008, if they're nominated together.
Q. What is the difference between a serial monogamist and a polygamist.?
A. The polygamaist has better aptitude for multi-tasking.
As the Chruch Lady from the old SNL might say: "Isn't all that self-righteousness just special?"
Posted by Old Grouch on September 13, 2007 09:01 PMShelia, I am not sure what Craig wanted, did he want to be the doer or the done to? Now I can see a man paying another man for a bj, but not paying to give one to another man.
I need lots more info on this.
Posted by Sharon B. on September 13, 2007 09:34 PMI think Craig was tapping because he thought Keith was in the next stall
Posted by Mac on September 14, 2007 06:53 AMThanks c for the "b,b,b,b,b,but Clinton" diatribe. What a Tool.
Posted by It's True on September 14, 2007 08:08 AMSharon: I am not sure which end he wished to be, but I believe that some people actually get off on being the doer as opposed to the doee.
I suppose we could ask all the folks here for their opinions on the subject.
But, to the subject at hand: (hahah..inuendo NOT intended...ewwww)
If Craig, or any other, so-called 'conservative' wants to throw stones, they must first make sure that they are WAY above reproach. But, I still agree with the first responder to this letter, Mary, in her statement that one reason democrats don't hide and, consequently, get arrested in men's bathrooms for soliciting sex, is that most democrats have a healthy understanding that of thier sexuality (be it straight/gay or bi) and aren't riddled with so much shame and guilt that they have to resort to illegal activities to satisfy their sexual urges.
This cartoon sums it all up nicely.

Posted by Grog on September 14, 2007 11:19 AMWhat's the big deal?
Where's the hypocrisy?
It wasn't like Craig tried to marry the guy.
Posted by Get Real on September 14, 2007 12:27 PMSheila-
How you prove my point about no morals any more!
Whatever feels good do it, in other words??
Even if you have a spouse that you are cheating on?
God, Sheila when Mr. Happy shows up on your doorstep do you give it ANY thought??
c. if I opened my door and found a Mr. Happy on my doorstep I would give it a "little" thought.
"Leona, are you out there, what is this thing"?
