Tell Congress to stop funding of Iraq war
Thursday, September 27 at 12:01 AM

The momentum to continue the war against Iraq is fueled by huge profits for military contractors, control of Iraq’s oil by American companies and campaign contributions by these same companies to Congress. The Democratic Congress that was elected last year to end the war instead continued to fund it in May. Unfortunately, Congress appears to be more responsive to its contributors than to the desires of the American people, 70 percent of whom want the war to end.
President Bush has asked Congress for another $192 billion to keep the war going. Congress will vote on the funding sometime soon.
Seventy courageous members of Congress, including Denver’s Rep. Diana DeGette, told the president in July that the only funds they will vote for are funds to bring the troops home.
In order to shift the momentum away from profits and corruption, the people of Colorado must speak. We must tell our representatives and senators that the war is wrong, that it has killed tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis and more than 3,700 U.S. troops, and that it is draining funds needed for important domestic programs.

I agree, but we need to also stop funding Planned Parenthood with millions of dollars every year, after all the kill on the average 3000 babies a day.

Posted by on September 27, 2007 06:39 AM

bush and gates now want 190 billion for the Wars ( yes plural) budget in 2008. It's time to call Congress and tell them NO MORE! Stop the funding and stop the war.
As for stopping planned parenthood, I suggest you dont make any donations if you dont like its politics. BUT planned parenthood offers tons of birth control to people, do you really want all those extra babies suckig up more money from those socail programs you hate so much?

I think congress should stop the funding for Iraq, and bring the troops back to cities like Denver, Aurora, Los Amgeles, etc. This is one way to control the gang violence and crimes that are committed against society. We now have the troops trained in urban warfare. We haver a war right here.

The Democrats are going to bring the troops home, trust them...

HANOVER, N.H. — The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation's first primary state.

"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"I cannot make that commitment," said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Typical Republican response. Blame the Democrats for the problems you caused.

07;28 AM - both

Poor spin attempt at addressing the truth. Better check back with MoveOn.org to get some specific talking points.

Posted by on September 27, 2007 07:42 AM

gee do you mean that those up in arms dums you elected on the promise to end the war havent done so? I can not believe that they would have told you that was their goal was to get the troops home now and they have not done it other than in words to get elected.
i guess the liberals just blow hot air to get elected and then sit back and talk of feel good policy.

Actually Planned Parenthood provides a broad range of medical care to women and the poor. They are health care providers who don't make value judgments about their patients medical condition but thanks for trying to trivialize the issue of funding an open ended occupation with your ideological fanaticism. al-Queda would be proud of you anon. They also are anti-women and anti-gay.

If you watched the Dem debates last night, then you also heard Hillary, Obama and Edwards say that they have NO plans to withdraw troops and that they will STAY. No wonder why the Reid/Pelosi congress, now enjoying single digit approval, will never vote to defund. The writer of the above thinks that George Soros and MoveOn.org runs America.

There will be NO defunding of Iraq and our troops will be there for another several decades; maybe longer. Get used to it and lose your MoveOn.org connections.

If I were a Surrendercrat, cut-n-run Dem waving my white flag, I would be turning myself into Nurse Ratchet's Cuckoo's Nest right about now, hoping they have a straight jacket strong enough to contain me.

None of the Dem hopefuls in last night's debate plan to bring any troops home from Iraq anytime soon. We are there for the long haul, so thy all said.

Will the troop defunding take place on Hillary's watch? Obama's watch? Edwards' watch? You moonbats bought Soros' American defeat in Iraq hook, line and sinker. Now you have to choke on it.

Bottom Line: I expect to see riots, mayhem and civil disobedience at the '08 Denver Dem convention as the nuts get even nuttier.

Posted by Hank on September 27, 2007 11:18 AM

And the Republican Convention being held in Minnneapolis, can all of them really fit in that one airport mensroom? Should be a whole lotta tapping going on. Put on your tap shoes Hank and Keith.
Is say that's the 'bottom' line, but dont want to get all the GOP delegates too aroused

Are you all missing the point? It does not matter how you feel about the war it is what will the cost do to this country? A Russian leader said years ago that Russia would take over America with out firing one shoot. Well that didn't happen but if we keep forking out billions & billions of dollars it won't matter what happens to Iraq this country will go down with its dept. The terroist will win the money war. Why do you think they flew planes into two big cash buildings.

Chicago, 1968...coming to a Colorado town near you! Maybe even Denver.

Based on what they all said last night, it sure looks like Hillary, Obama and Edwards are in Iraq for the very long home. Not one said that they had any plans to bring the troops home before 2013. No suprise, right? That's what you thought right, that's why you made your political donations and worked for, right?

You MoveOn.org moonbats thought that that they were coming home on Bush's watch via a congressional defunding? And you thought that the troops would be home for Thanksgiving, because Gerge Soros promised you that. Right?

You all got taken. You were all duped! Moveon just jammed a live snake right up your collective #@*&~!, didn't they? I hope it hurt. Are you planning a payback? A get even? Think Chicago, 1968.

I'll tell you what Hank, you give me your credit card number, and if you can't pay off the balance, it'll be your fault ok?

Posted by Larry on September 27, 2007 12:23 PM

So who is going to tell congress not to fund the Iraq war?

Hillary....NO
Obama...NO
Edwards...NO

How do we know? They're all staying in Iraq for the long haul--they said so last night, that's how! And it sure looks like that the funding will go right through 2013 if you can believe the 3- HOEs.

Now don't you libdems feel sooooooooo stupid?

Posted by Hank on September 27, 2007 12:52 PM

C'mon Hank, make with the numbers.

Posted by Larry on September 27, 2007 12:59 PM

Hank,

I guess you should feel very very happy that the Dems won't stop the cash flow out of the US. Celebrate away because we are going to be broke, broke, broke for years. And then if we do get attacked we won't be able to afford to defend ourselves because we blew trillions in Iraq. So PARTY ON DUDE!!!!!

Where did you make up this "fact" Keith? You see it as a graphic put up on the Republican News Network? Come on dude show a link or an article that supports your position. It is called debate from a rational perspective. We've been coaching you for several days to actually step up and show some conservative logic that is based in the reality community not sophomoric personal attacks. You can do it man. Post the article or link that supports your assertion. If you can't then we will start snickering and guffawing about your silly "facts". You don't want libs laughing at you do you. Come on big guy. Cough up your source.

Tell Congress to stop funding the war in Iraq?

They continue to fund illegal immigrants with our tax dollars and refuse to listen to the American people.

Just a deaf ear to a different subject.

Posted by c on September 27, 2007 09:05 PM

wes,"InvestorsBusiness Weekly"poll.66% of Americans view a U.S. victory as very important."Public Opinion Strategies"57% agree finishing the job in Iraq.wes,Do you remember the useless liberal polls showing kerry was going to win in a landslide?

Posted by Keith on September 27, 2007 09:05 PM

Karl Cheney (how cute by the way) your 1:45 post shows exactly what you know. In fact, you have no clue what you are talking about. I doubt that you have the intellectual ability or courage to do the research and quote the sources to back up your assertion. So PARTY ON DUDE!!!!!!! your beer bong is waiting.
