Terrorist plots still a possibility
This letter has not been edited.
Republicans are hoping we get attacked again. I guess they hate America.
Posted by Pete on September 14, 2007 02:06 PMIt's the Republican Munchausen Syndrome.....or syndrone (yawn).
According to Senator Craig, the safest place is in a bathroom stall with your head between someone else's legs.
Posted by Freud on September 14, 2007 03:35 PMYou never hear anything about these so called foiled terrorist plots after the initial information. Do they go to trial? Are they in Jail? Are they executed? Does anybody have any info on what happens to these people afterwards? You never hear anything again about them! Anybody have any info to help out on this question?
Posted by Karl Cheney on September 14, 2007 05:08 PM"The fact that we have experienced a six-year lull should in no way suggest that America is invulnerable to another attack such as 9/11."
That'll be news to all the Bushites who keep writing that solely because of George Wonderful Bush "there hasn't been an attack on American soil since 9/11."
Posted by Hans Christian Brando on September 14, 2007 07:42 PMI think the Europeans were already awake. They have a history with terrorists.
I am glad that the ones in this country who have been caught are so dumb that they practically wear a sign around their necks saying "'terrorist plotting something".
Posted by Sharon B. on September 14, 2007 08:15 PMI think the Republicans are hoping for another attack at home to try and reclaim the glory while retaining the White house while the Democrats are hoping for failure in Iraq to pick up more glory and regain the White house - who is worse?
I say they all suck at this point.
Terrorist plots are always a possibility, and they always have been.
The problem is -- we (the United States) can't single-hadedly fight a continuous global war on terror. Our treasury is nearly empty, and our troops are exhausted.
Our leaders need to quit playing politics for a few minutes and put their heads together to come up with a viable, SUSTAINABLE strategy that requires our allies to pitch in and pull their own weight when it comes to fighting terror.
Don't listen to the Republican rederick about how "Democrats want to surrender to the terrorists." NOTHING could be further from the truth.
The reality is that anyone with a brain can see that this war cannot continue forever. No country can fight a perpetual war against an undefined enemy.
Even if Bush said that the goal is to get out withing five years -- at least we would have something to look forward to. For now, we are floundering with no hope and no end in sight.
Posted by Gulf War Vet on September 14, 2007 10:34 PMYou are so right: terrorist plots are still possible. Thankfully, nearly 500 days from now that threat will be severely diminished.

I thought we were fighting them over there so we didn't have to fight them here.
Posted by GK on September 15, 2007 09:18 AMI'd like to see Braindead Stuckey and one of these so-called "terrorists" locked in a room and see who comes out alive.
My guess is that Stuckey, being the good GOP'er that he is, would be on his knees in a heartbeat offering up twenty bucks to perform oral sex on the evil doer.
Either that or he'd be curled up in the corner soiling himself.
Defending our freedoms indeed...
Fighting them over there does not fly.
Sorry Brian, that dog doesn't hunt. Whilst we have our best men and women patrolling as IED targets, those vile Islamist terrorists can attack us here. There is no connection.
But then the JFK fantasizes never would have done a thing without FBI infiltrators assistance.
