When is enough, enough in Iraq?
We’re told that the Iraq security forces aren’t ready to take over, but not what the criteria is for when they are. When is enough, enough?
There is no way to tell when they will be ready to do ANYTHING. That can only be found out under actual police situations, under their OWN command, not ours, and even with that, we still can’t be sure what they’ll do the next time.
So when enough, is enough, can NEVER realistically be determined.
The point is that you can never be sure of ANYTHING and you can’t make things happen beyond your control by just hoping and wishing.
I’ll say it again... YOU CAN NEVER BE SURE OF ANYTHING...
This isn’t rocket science.

we aren't leaving Iraq ever. we are building permanent bases there right now. it is all bullsht that this "government" of ours is feeding us, to blind us from the real intentions for us being there.
Posted by Fresh on September 13, 2007 02:27 PM"enough" occurs in January 2009, when the next president, Republican or Democrat, inherits this mess from the irresponsible waif of a man now in the White House. That's how long our soliders have to wait for some coherent orders from the office of Commander in Chief.

Posted by Keith on September 13, 2007 11:30 PMKeith have you taken your meds yet today? Would that be the same Bin Laden that Bush gave up on when he 'cut and ran' from Afghanistan? The same Osama that Bush says isnt important and he could care less if he was captured? Bush is a man obsessed on one thing- Iraq, an obsession to try and salvage a legacy that wont show him as the worst president iin the history of the US. But I am afraid he is locked into that fate.
Posted by American Pie on September 14, 2007 06:46 AMAs long as they have oil, we're stayin in Iraq
Posted by Chimpy McFlightsuit on September 14, 2007 08:11 AMThe middle east oil MUST keep flowing - we don't have to own it (oil represents less than 4% of the US gnp) but the oil must keep flowing or ALL the economies of the world will be thrown into a grand funk that would make the 'great depression' look like a picnic. Oil is the single biggest contributor to all the prosperity that exists in the world today - take it away or make a serious shortage and all the world will suffer (many more will starve). The concept of capitalism and the "American Way" is far from perfect but in this imperfect system opportunity abounds. We will do what ever it takes to keep the oil flowing and will not allow Iraq, Syria, Iran or any of the others to upset the economy of the world. Leftists world wide call it 'imperialism and hegemony' but it can be no other way unless you want constant upheaval, depression, and revolution and far more poverty than exists today. The US will be imbedded in the middle east for the next 50 years and the oil will continue to flow until we can find a replacement!
Letter writer Richard Stover askes "when is enough, enough? I will answer that question for him. When the troops on the ground do not want to fight the war and when people do not volunteer to fight the war.I trust the troops on the ground in Iraq to know when to stop the war not the media and the Democrat leadership.
Posted by An American on September 14, 2007 10:32 AMAn American how ridiculous you sound. I did not realize that you think we are a military state. The troops do not decide 'whether to fight' or "how long to fight'. The military and generals do not decide that. That is decided by the American people. If the American people want the war, then the military does as directed and the troops do as directed and fight it. I have faith that the troops will follow orders, fight if told to, or come home if told to. It's not a decision THEY make, they joined the military to follow orders and do as directed. If the American People decide that the war has no value ( as 70% of us have) then the decision will be made to end the war and I am sure the troops will gladly come home and not decide to remain there.
I hope you are right that that 70% is solely Democrats, that should make for a landslide victory in '08.
Citizens, with the media firmly in the hands of the[enemy] Democrats all they have to do is feed the terrorists propaganda to the press and brainwash the people of our country. Then the media can put out their bogus polls to finish the brainwashing job.Now the terrorists can win the war without even trying. Thanks to their friends in the media and the Democrat party. Is this the way you want to run a war?I will trust the troops. When they think we can't win they will stop volunteering.I find it strange that you put your faith in the media and not the troops that are there and know what is going on.
Posted by An American on September 14, 2007 02:34 PMCitizens, you have probably not followed the media on any issues.I have followed the media for 20 years on the gun issue. As someone that knows a fair amount about guns I can tell you the media has outright lied about the gun issue. The reason I am mentioning this is because the media has probably lied at least as much about the war. This is where the people get their information and it is nothing but lies from my experience. When you have spent thousands of hours investigating the media then you may be in my league.I will trust the troops. You think the troops are anxious to leave Iraq because you can't understand their bravery.
Posted by An American on September 14, 2007 02:45 PMSo An American would like to disregard the opinions of the majority of Amercans (those who oppose the occupation)? Who's been brainwashed? And what's the big deal about 20 years of following the media on the the gun issue? I've been following it more than twice as long as that.
Posted by Stan Broyles on September 14, 2007 04:44 PMStan Broyles,
Well, you are reading the words of one of the Architypical spokes-persons for Republican/"conservative" postions who post on this blog. So, I guess we all have to take for granted that we have heard just how it is. When you read these two most prominent, and most eminent, Republican/"conservative" writers, you should remember that you are reading the TRUE Party line.
I've often wondered how the one manages to have "observed" anything for "20 years"; since the writing style, and content, is that of a rather poorly trained pre-adolescent. But, again, this IS one of the major voices of the Republican/"conservatie" claque. And that expresses it all.
Posted by Old Grouch on September 14, 2007 07:57 PMStan Broyles says he has been following the media for 40 years. If that is true he obviously has learned nothing. If he thinks the media is not liberal and does not lie to support Democrat causes then he can't understand reality. As for Old Grouch,I have had probably 100 letters published in major newspapers.I will bet Old Grouch,if he tells the truth, has not had nearly that many published. Also I have called talk radio thousands of times. In fact I cornered Gloria Alred on an issue and she did a one hour program trying to prove me wrong.Old Grouch you are too smart to realize how dumb you are!! I will let you ponder that for awhile!! I will bet Old Grouch could not even get on a talk show or get a letter published in a major newspaper.
Posted by An American on September 15, 2007 08:30 AMIt would appear that Stan Broyles would like to disregard to opinions of our troops that are in Iraq and fighting the war.He would take the word of the media instead.
Posted by An American on September 15, 2007 08:47 AMI see where the yappy puppy claims to have been published quite extensively in the newspapers. Reminds me of another individual more or less ubiquitous in the RMN, name of "Brian Stuckey". Might this be a round-about attempt to identify who "Stuckey" is, or who they both are?
Come to think of it, there is some resemblance in the productions. A whole lot of nothing to say, "said" at length.
But, then again, that's so true of the rest of the Republican/"conservative" postings here that it really doesn't serve to prove the matter at all. Just another "claim to fame" substituting for knowledge, reason, judgment, or anything else worth the effort to put forth.
Go on back to your playpen, sonny. I'm sure your pet AK47 is getting lonely without you.
Posted by Old Grouch on September 15, 2007 10:36 AMAs you notice Old Grouch did not say he has been published in a major newspaper. He also did not say he has been on any radio talk shows. The reason for this is because when you write a letter to the editor they have to judge if the letter makes sense and is coherent. The same is true when you call talk radio.Old Grouch's posting are incoherent and rambling at best. That makes him another good example of a Democrat.
Posted by An American on September 15, 2007 06:49 PMOver the years, in my time, I've edited the level of papers that would publish the puppy today. There were requirements for grammar, spelling, and even some contents that made sense, back then. So, it would be highly unlikely that the puppy ever got a word on a page there.
My other publications - in my field(s) - have been both National and International; but that's of no consequence dealing with juveniles and their productions. And the "Sunday School News for 6th Graders" level is of no interest to me anyway.
Posted by Old Grouch on September 15, 2007 07:17 PMWell it took Old Grouch some time to make up a story about his past and even that is incoherent. It couldn't have had anything to do with communicating with the public because he would have been fired.Old Grouch I would be happy to teach you how to communicate with the public, for a fee.If it is true you have edited newspapers,we can see why it has been so hard to get the truth out to the public.
