Blackwater scandal
Tuesday, October 23 at 11:28 AM

Jim Bernath of Englewood writes:

Wasn’t Blackwater named as the antithesis of Whitewater and what that word came to mean regarding the Clintons, whether the public ever heard of Blackwater or not? And the mercenary business with our government is not publicized. Fortunately our media are still doing a good job of revealing just how desperate, corrupt, and violent culture we are promoting in Iraq.

We need to get rid of these SOB's. Bush/Cheney Co have done enough damage without having some private company draw down on our troops.

I remember hearing this story about BW fucking with troops and not really believeing it. Any independent confirmation of this? Of course, if I was one of the soldiers I sure wouldn't admit it. If true, they should have brought down some arty on those guys, or hunted them down later. Isn't everyone who points weapons at US military in Iraq considered hostile?
Ah, don't mind me - I'm just bitter after not getting Rockies tickets...

The problem is that BW is an unfortunate necessity. Not only are they unfortunate, they are inadequate. We still need 150-250K more troops to be successful in Iraq and can't do it without a draft.

Our Iraq-NAM troops are being pimped and exploited like something from the old plantation days of sharecropping. It is a violation of the EqualPay Act the BW Mafia is being paid more than our kids in uniform. Where's Obama and his Congressional Black Caucus posse, when you need'em?

How can anyone possibly be surprised by the fact that King George would send Christo-extremists to conduct his "crusade"?
He slipped very early on when he used that terminology to describe his war on the people of Iraq.
He wanted a religious war and that's exactly what we as Americans have allowed him to have.
But the truth has come to light, and as Americans we have an obligation to see to it that our Representitives in Washington put a stop to this madness, and bring our troops home.
If the overpaid mercs of Blackwater want to stay and kill Muslims, let 'em. But when they're captured, they're on their own.
They are NOT American troops, and they should NOT be paid with MY tax dollars.
If they want to play crusader , then
let Jerry Falwell's church pick up the tab.

This inept administration breeds more contempt each day.....
The State Department so badly managed a $1.2 billion contract for Iraqi police training that it can't tell what it got for the money spent, a new report says.

Because of disarray in invoices and records on the project -- and because the U.S. government is trying to recoup money paid inappropriately to contractor DynCorp International -- auditors have temporarily suspended efforts to review the contract's implementation, said Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction Stuart Bowen.

Bowen had been trying to review a 2004 contract to DynCorp awarded by the State Department's Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. The company was to provide housing, food, security, facilities, training support, law enforcement staff with various specialties as well as weapons and armor for personnel assigned to the program. -- Associated Press

I suppose Rosen would write this one off along with the $455B we've poured into that black hole...

The change in government is never going to happen until we get the monied interests out of the way. Now the courts say money = speech. Well for all our talk nothing gets done. I CANT afford to give a few thousand to get a word in. So I think we have tried raising our voices and that has not worked either. So if you raise you voice they still don't hear you IT"S TIME TO RAISE your hand!

And it's both parties at fault here. So each side needs a few rights and lefts in the KISSER!
