Boulder students protesting the Pledge
Friday, October 19 at 2:00 PM

Tommy Holeman of Longmont writes:

The love of the U.S.A and its Constitution is apparently alive and well at Boulder High .
“Misguided, over-sensitive and goofy” were three adjectives Dan Caplis used to describe Ms. Martens, a leader in the protest at Boulder High.
Now , I’m no lawyer, but the same three adjectives could easily be used to describe the beliefs of Mr. Caplis, who has claimed to be a pro-life Christian, yet he has for some time been a pompous, self centered cheerleader for the Iraq war that has resulted in the deaths of thousands of unquestionably viable American lives and possibly more than a million Iraqi lives. Many of them women and children.
Aside from the fact that as a lawyer, Mr Caplis should have a better than average understanding of our Constitution, he should also have a vocabulary sufficient to convey his thoughts without insulting either Ms. Martens or the intelligence of the listeners of his local radio program.
It seems that there are two possible scenarios here. First, his boss at Clearchannel has directed him to ridicule anything Boulder, and second, Mr.
Caplis has no compassion or empathy and is merely trying to divert attention from the fact that his elected Republican party members have failed in their sworn duties to protect and defend the Constitution of these United States of America.
I’m afraid that both may well be the case.

READER COMMENTS

Tommy - I read your comments, slowly, several times, and have a question.

What does any of what you rambled on about have to do with the Constitution or what the students did?

Not having any personnel knowledge of Mr. Caplis or his statement, I assume he is a radio personality. As such they are generally inflamatory to get and keep ratings. So you are just playing into thier hands with your rant.

Tommy Holeman probably does not understand that the Democrat party has done whatever they can to destroy the Second Amendment. The Democrat party does not care about our rights. All they care about is defending the rights of terrorists. The Democrat party is even trying to close down freedom of speech on talk radio. It is obvious that MR. Holeman went to a liberal college.

I'm not sure what Caplis has to do with the students in Boulder (he's just an entertainer, and a pretty funny one at that) or what the second amendment has to do with the students in Boulder, either. Seems like the drinking started a little early this weekend.

Mac,
Okay... that last line was pretty funny.

AA
Mr Holeman is correct. Dan Caplis a 2-bit shyster , and an idiot that SHOULD know better than to beat up on a high school girl.
But then again, that seems to be the Conservative M.O. lately.
It's always cowards who pick on someone smaller, and weaker.

And , AA, that's the DEMOCRATIC party,
the oldest political party in history.

But you knew that, didn't you?

Ah poor little baby Holeman doesn't like Caplis. Boo Hoo! Cry me a river.

Caplis and his ilk is a mf, a name Christians call themselves meaning "wretch" with both having the same meaning in dictionary.com. Why not return to Belamy's original pledge for an "indivisible" nation whereby the bastardized pledge by Christians create a divisible nation? Belamy's Pledge:

I pledge allegiance to my flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Belamy's pledge is changed twice by the Christians in whom only themselves are accorded justice because it is their "jew" baby morphed into a god that is referenced whose predecessor gods are many. Caplis is Dewey's conservative below:

Deicide Corner: “Intellectually, religious emotions are not creative but conservative. They attach themselves readily to the current view of the world and consecrate it.” -- John Dewey

Apparently ,Bush-lovers like meth too, as it helps keep us up at 5:08 AM on a Saturday.
Just like our George -who- would -be -King liked his cocaine when he was dodging the draft in the elite National Guard unit that his Daddy got him is so he wouldn't have to go to Nam.
And, 40 years later, Dan Rather was fired for trying to tell the truth.
Man, Republicans sure have been showing their true colors, ( primarily yellow) since the coup, haven't they?
Bush-lovers can't handle the truth, so they lie, and follow other like-minded druggies like Rush who spoon feed them what they want to hear.
But back to the subject, as MR. Holeman pointed out ,Republicans HAVE failed to protect and defend the Constitution.
They took an oath and reneged.
But so did Bush, so they are merely following their leader's example of hypocrisy, selfishness, and cowardice.

And Caplis is no exception. He's a good little Christo-fascist , Bush appologist, and war cheerleader ( What branch of the service did he serve in, again ?)

dmz;
Your rants are becoming as incoherent as any from R Grimes , 40 ACRES or Old Crotch. But then that is the natural progression expected from aging libs.Youre a paranoid joke who is laughed at and not taken seriously by any lucid mind. Are you a public school teacher , full time activist , or alternative lifestyle counselor?

LIBERALS ARE IDIOTS!

10:58,
Thank you, you've made my point.
When Cons ( like you and Rush) have nothing substantial to back up their paranoid rants, they turn to name-calling and change the subject.

By the way, Dan Rather is not finished, and he's got facts and truth on his side.

All you have to do is read the comments by the Democrats above and you can see there is something not right about their thinking.Look at the words they use and how they think. All they can do is lie about all issues.Listen to Rush,Sean and Mark Levin and judge for yourself.Even the NRA agrees that these people are liars and they have the facts to prove it.Join the NRA today and help fight anti-freedom Democrats.1-877-NRA-2000.

All I ask for is return to Belamy's Pledge thus shagging the Christian Pledge.

Posted by RG on October 21, 2007 03:00 PM

Good point, RG. If schools required kids to say the Pledge the way it was written, when they protested (which they still would, IMO) it wouldn't fire up certain segments of the population.

Posted by Mac on October 21, 2007 04:13 PM

RG, naughty boy. I always said "under dog' for that part of the pledge. Or under bob, or cod or something else to affirm my protest.

Yo: If I say as you say, Sharon, it will give the appearance that I am praying since nobody can hear what I substitute; my remedy is not to stand, not to utter or as when they invited me to a democratic meeting when I was a democrat (now an independent) and they started to pray: I exclaimed loudly: "What! You are going to pray!" One fellow said he did what you do. I said: "Not me!" I pretty nearly ran as opposed to walk and abandoned the meeting. The mf Christians (wretches: despicable, evil) stole Belamy's pledge and those who utter it are culpable. I now acquiesce to the virtue of brevity. Ends.

Deicide Corner: “You'd never believe, when I was young, we genuinely believed religious wars were over. We'd say, at least it's impossible to have a religious war now. Can you believe that? . . . I'm so afraid of religion. Its capacity for murder is terrifying.” -- Doris Lessing
