Bush bent on American destruction
He has effectively destroyed true patriotism which is now defined by how bloodthirsty and intolerant one can be and continues to defy the will of the people of the United States. The result is an ongoing debacle in Iraq where the best among us, our courageous servicemembers are dying for his stubborness, wasted years and resources in the war on terror and a demoralized American public. Now, with seemingly no one left to demean, or bedevil, he aims his arrogance at our most priceless and most vulnerable treasure, children (Bush Vetoes Children’s Health Insurance Plan, RMN.com, 10/3/07)! How could you, Mr. President, how could you? I know longer say God bless America, I plead, God help America and rescue her from the hands of an evil dictator bent on her destruction.
This letter has not been edited.
"(Bush Vetoes Children’s Health Insurance Plan, RMN.com, 10/3/07)! How could you, Mr. President, how could you? "
Simple: children's health insurance doesn't bring cash into the coffers of the Bush/Cheney/Halliburton war profiteering consortium.
Posted by drew on October 17, 2007 02:09 PMWho is trying to destroy the US? It is the Democrat party.Democrats like Kenneth Gies are giving aid and comfort to the terrorist by writing his letter. He is trying to break the will of the American people and give victory to our enemies. The Democrat party is also trying to give us socialized health care and claiming they are doing it for the children. They are trying to take away the Right to Keep and Bear Arms so criminals will rule the streets. They are trying to close down Talk Radio so the American people will only get the propaganda their media puppets give the people. They pushed through campaign finance reform so groups of people like the NRA could not tell the truth about Democrat candidates 60 days before an election.Their media puppets help them in this effort.I would say that the Democrat party has gone a long way in trying to destroy this country.I think most normal people will see this fact !!!
Posted by An American on October 17, 2007 03:05 PMWow. This is one of the best examples of Bush Derangement Syndromes I've ever seen.
Point of fact - I don't support the current incarnation of the legislation either. Does that make me a monster, too? What about the millions who supported, and continue to support, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq? Are they also monsters?
Posted by Neal5x5 on October 17, 2007 03:06 PMYou can just tell that "an American" has never left the country and doesn't know anything about the billions of people in the world. God save America from their pedestrianism.
Posted by another american on October 17, 2007 04:46 PMLet congress pass a healthcare bill that is truly for "the children" and Bush will gladly sign it as he has stated. He forewarned congress if they keep trying to sneak universal healthcare in he will continue to veto it.
Obviously our new congress is more concerned with their socialist agenda than helping the needy children.
Posted by KW on October 17, 2007 06:01 PMJeez, this is the type of BS that is crafted simply to antagonize. I am as much appalled by GWB and his cabal as anybody, but attributing evil to him is just a tactic to inflame people and get them to react in a manner that is detrimental to actual discussion and change.
It brings out the stupid in people.
"...What about the millions who supported, and continue to support, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq? Are they also monsters?"
No, just wrong, in my opinion. And for the record, I supported the war in the beginning. But now that I realize the White House has absolutely no intention of actually winning, I have to be against it. Hey, with a new strategy I might change my mind again. But making money is not a strategy for victory.

Well stated. This letter's demonizing of those who hold a different opinion is a step toward the Balkanization of the US and a poor excuse for debate. While contests of wills and elections are emotional, making a political opponent to be "the enemy" is adolescent and hardly flatters whatever side is being stated.
Posted by Neal5x5 on October 17, 2007 10:22 PMNeal5x5,
Unfortunatley, the Balkanization of the US is the goal of many who post here. For some, it is an Conscious one, always present in their single point - or "One Note" - insitence upon tearing down the entire structure of Federal Government we have today, and starting over from their own fantasy of what "ought to have been" built on the basis of THEIR interpretation of the words used in 1789.
For others, of course, it is Unconscious, merely always showing up in their own inability to THINK about a topic, accompanied by their inevitible "knee-jerk" use of insulting epithets to reply to anyone who posts something they don't - and can't - understand.
However, by far better here, on a website, than actualized - by bringing "home" some of the "independent contractors", such as Blackwater, for instance, to "keep the peace".
But then again, while he has not quite yet attempted to "cross the Rubicon", "George IV" certainly has given evidence that something such as that is on his mind - or, rather, on the minds of those who pull his strings, and activate his voice as he sits on their knees, Dubbya giving little or no evidence of even the ghost of a mind of his own these days.
Anyone want to make a pool on when we cross the border into Iran?
Posted by Old Grouch on October 18, 2007 11:56 AMAnother american is a great example of what the Democrat party has become. They are more concerned about what the rest of the world thinks about us than the well being of the US.He says that I have never been out of the US and therefore I can't comment on what is going on in the US.He thinks you have to get feedback from the "world community" to determine what rights we in the US should have.As you notice he does not even capitalize the "A" in American that is because he has not respect for this country. If you want your rights determined by the rest of the world vote Democrat !!!
Posted by An American on October 18, 2007 12:23 PMA True American claims I get all my facts from talk radio. He does not mention the "facts" that come from the National Rifle Association. The NRA's facts are very accurate. A True American "feels" the facts should be what he "feels" they are and not the truth about what the Democrat party really is ,an anti-freedom,US hating and coward party.
Posted by An American on October 18, 2007 12:44 PMAs you see American Pie does not care about true freedom. The reason I mention the Second Amendment is it shows Democrats like American Pie for what they are and that is US hating, anti-freedom cowards.Let me explain,if the Democrats really believed in the Bill of Rights when I mentioned the Second Amendment they would agree that it should be protected.American Pie makes fun of that right because he is a coward and fears being shot so he wants the Amendment banned yet he will defend terrorists rights even though there are none. That is because he hates the US and wants the terrorists to win the war. There is a reason I write what I write and it is two-fold.One, to set traps for Democrats like American Pie so everybody can see what they are anti-freedom, US hating cowards. Two to to educate the public with facts they will never see in the Democrat controlled media.

Posted by jay on October 18, 2007 01:16 PMjay, "have made us less safe".
We keep hearing that, but the evidence says otherwise.
Between 1983 - 2001, Americans were killed by terrorist attack somewhere in the world an average of about once every 13 months. Mostly airline hijackings and bombings, embassy bombings, etc.
If that trend had merely continued, let alone us being less safe, there would have been at least five more attacks on us since 9/11.
There have been zero.
NORFOLK, VA—Gun owners nationwide are applauding the patriotic, though accidental, exercise of Second Amendment rights by 8-year-old Timothy Cummings Tuesday.
"Timothy is a symbol of American heroism," said NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre from Cummings' bedside at Norfolk General Hospital, where the boy is in serious but stable condition from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. "While praying for his recovery, we should all thank God that his inalienable right to keep and bear arms has not been infringed."
The incident occurred shortly after Cummings returned from school and found that his parents were absent from the house. Displaying what Second Amendment-rights groups are calling "good old-fashioned American ingenuity," Cummings placed a pair of phone books on a stool to retrieve his father's loaded .38-caliber revolver from its hiding place on a closet shelf. After a preliminary backyard investigation of his constitutional rights claimed the life of Pepper, the family's cocker spaniel, Cummings fell on the weapon, causing it to discharge into his left thigh.
"The framers of the Constitution would be so proud of what my boy did yesterday," said Cummings' father Randall, 44, who originally purchased the handgun for home defense. "If 8-year-old boys discharging loaded firearms into their own legs isn't necessary to the maintenance of a well-regulated militia, I don't know what is."
Doctors worked for six hours to reconstruct Timothy Cummings' femur, which shattered from the impact of the high-velocity teflon-coated slugs, and to graft his remaining muscular and circulatory tissue over the fist-sized exit wound below his left buttock. Although the boy lost a great deal of blood, attending physicians say they are confident that he will recover sufficiently to resume active use of firearms, though his chances of walking again are slim.
"For years, the people who want to take away our freedoms have said that we're not smart enough or responsible enough to own handguns," Randall added. "Timothy is proof that even a child is capable of using a handgun for its intended purpose."
NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre praising Cummings' "commitment to the American way."
Gun owners nationwide have flooded Cummings' hospital room with flowers, letters of congratulations and invitations to "come shooting." Area firearms enthusiast and family friend Lloyd Stone showed his support by donating 18 inches of vascular material to help rebuild Cummings' left femoral artery.
"He may be just a boy, but this use of the Second Amendment was a man-sized undertaking," Stone said. "Timothy may need a wheelchair for the rest of his life, but with every step he doesn't take, he'll realize what the Constitution really means."
Although Cummings has yet to deliver an official statement on the incident, he regained consciousness long enough to discuss his immediate plans.
"Please, I want to run and play again," Cummings told doctors Tuesday night. "My leg hurts bad. Please make it stop."
Although gun-control advocates have criticized the boy's gun use, the NRA was quick to respond, calling Cummings' use of much-protested, teflon-coated "cop-killer" bullets "a victory for America."
"Timothy should be held up as an example to people who think we don't need these bullets—or fully automatic assault weapons, or concealable handguns which are impervious to metal detectors, for that matter," said NRA president Charlton Heston, who plans to congratulate Cummings in person as soon as he is through lobbying for Senate repeal of recently passed legislation mandating background checks for gun buyers.
"If we ban teflon-coated bullets, automatic weapons would be next," Heston said. "Then all handguns. Next thing you know, the law would deny our citizens' children the personal freedom to blow holes through their own legs."
NRA lobbyist Tom Korologos agreed. "Timothy's heroic accident happened because we live in the greatest country in the world," he said. "Had he grown up in Japan, England or Russia, he wouldn't be where he is today."
"Restrictive laws would have kept him 'safe' at home—and they would have justified it by telling us it was for his own good," Korologos added. "That's not the type of country I'd want my children to grow up walking normally in."
"Timothy is a shining example to gun-owning families everywhere," Cummings' mother Suzanne told reporters. "I am proud that my boy has followed in the footsteps of the many thousands of patriotic children who have already demonstrated their commitment of the U.S. Constitution in this same way."
"We keep hearing that, but the evidence says otherwise."
That is a myth Dave.
I"m not trying to be rude...but I'm going to trust the 16 intelligence agencies that make up the NIE and the Director of National Counterintelligence who have all stated unequivocably that we are less safe because of the iraq war.
no offense to you of course...
Posted by jay on October 18, 2007 04:25 PMRemember, the reason the 2nd Amendment was created was so PEOPLE COULD OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT IF NECESSARY, not as a protection against crime. So let's get a move on, people! Use them there weapons for their intended purpose!
Posted by Mac on October 18, 2007 05:49 PMIt needs to stated that "An American" does not know what the "facts" are, and couldn't handle the facts if known by him/her. And it is "An American" who believes that the facts should be what he "feels" they should be and doesn't have a clue as to what the truth is about the rightwing whacko's he supports, but then this allows the poor soul to continue to live in lala land.

So you are saying that the attacks on the WTC, the massacres at the Rome and Vienna airports, the bombings of the Kohbar Towers, the USS Cole, the Pan-Am flight over Scotland, the American embassies in Africa, etc., etc. were all just a myth.
Yet, you place your faith in the same NIE that insisted that Iraq was developing WMDs before the war there began.
Amazing.

I was just making fun of y'all and the fact that this discussion degenerated into an NRA bash. Have a sense of humor.
You must have missed the fact that my first comment (seventh overall) was to berate the original writer for his over-the-top, name calling.
Mac,
You have now experienced the "wisdom" and "maturity" of one of those principal spokes-persons for Republicanism/"conservatism" who are to be found posting on the website. They do manage to get out of the play-pen and onto the computer keyboard regularly.
This one has a fixation on two words - both of them with 2 syllables, which is about the tops for his learning abilities - namely, "coward" and "traitor", which he always manages to drop in after his baby-sitter types in the big word, "Democrats". Never mind the topic. Never mind that the person he's slamming has even posted something in favor of one of his own infantile rantings - as with stopped clocks, he's "right" on occasion - just blast off on that 3 syallable word, "Democrats"; because it's totally beyond his ability grasp as to meaning.
After a while, one learns to just accept the fact that he's loose again; and ignore him. But, he is a fixture, especially whenever his other pet fixation, guns, are mentioned, even in passing.
Posted by Old Grouch on October 19, 2007 01:09 PMMac, I apologize if I did not understand your comment.I guess I can count on you to join the NRA to help protect our gun rights? As you can see Old Grouch is a Democrat that would like to ban guns. You will see by his future postings he seems to be a little senile.
Posted by An American on October 19, 2007 02:59 PM"An American",
I'm not one of those people who sees boogey men around every corner and goes into a swoon when someone "says" they want to take away my rights. People have been trying to take away the rights contained in the B.o.R. since it's inception - probably withing minutes of it's publication!
I do wish there was a sane alternative to the NRA; I migh join that one. But I listen to the NRA and I wonder what the heck they are smoking. They don't even come close to representing me, unfortunately.
Mac,
I don't know how many times I have posted my own experience with Junior NRA, and my hearty endorsement of its purposes in offering sensible firearms handling, and training in safety. But, of course, for the little twerp who calls himself, "An American", that makes no difference in his infantile rant about Democrats wanting to "take away guns." He just doesn't have sufficient mental acuity to be able to grasp what others have to say, even though he is cunning enough to get out of his play-pen, and up to the computer almost daily.
Just a stupid, spoiled, little brat, who is going to have HIS temper tantrum - all over the website - because HE imagines someone is trying to take away HIS assault rifle, and leave him without HIS favorite toy in HIS crib. Other than that, there's nothing else there. (Maybe his Mommy shouldn't have let him have that GI Joe watergun playtoy to begin with; but, parents are so careless these days.) So . . . I usually just ignore him. He'll rant on anyway, since it appears his baby-sitter hasn't got what it takes to keep him away from making a nuisance of himself around the adults.
