I have to wonder why our social services agencies can be so inept that two children died horrible deaths even though child welfare had been notified as to the danger they were in? (“Lawmaker to push for kids’ ombudsman/Move comes in wake of deaths of two children,” Oct. 12.)
Little Neveah Gallegos was even taken to a hospital where it was confirmed that the 3-year-old had been raped. Why would anyone let that child go home with the mother who was living with the rapist? And why wasn’t there follow-up for Chandler Grafner? The ball was dropped in his case also.
This is unacceptable! Something must be done to stop this sloppy work. There could be a statewide data center that each county must contact on each and every case so no child falls through the cracks.
We all know that budgets keep getting slashed so there are fewer and fewer people to get the job done. That needs to stop. Everyone needs to start calling his or her senators and representatives and raise cane! Let’s also get Jessica’s Law passed here in Colorado. Why hasn’t it been?

Whats to fix? Child services provides a work enviorment for what normally would be welfare reciepiants. Now they are gainfully employed by the state.

AMEN! MImi, I have written many letters to our legislature trying to pass Jessica's law.

They don't care! They let sex offender's out over and over thinking in their small brains restorative justice is the way to deal with sex offenders.

Their version of restorative justice is let them out after serving short periods of time and have them register as a sex offender.As if that is going to somehow magically deter them from hunting for more victims.

We only here about the worst cases, the sensationsal cases. We don't hear day in and day out the courts and D.A. 's down pleading the charges to clear the docket quicker or just get rid of the case.

Colorado is one of 7 states that have not passed Jessica's Law. It is beyond me as to why they keep letting these sub-humans out over and over again.There is no cure for these people.Nothing a mental health facility can do,no drug they can take to stop them from committing crimes against children.

Colorado has put out a sign to welcome pedophiles to our state.
Santuary State for pedophiles.There are at least( and this number is probably higher)
9,000 registered sex offender's in the state of Colorado.Make that 8,999 , because they let Angel Montoya a child rapist and murderer out and he has , ( surprise, surprise ) not registered.
This is Colorado's dirty little secret.They could care less about it's children.The give safe haven to child rapist's.They are more concerned about a prairie dog than a child.

If people who care about children start writing and calling the legislature everyday and ask them to get Jessica's Law passed in Colorado,maybe we can get these creeps off our streets for at least 25 years to life.

There is a website that will show you exactly where the sex offender's are in your neighborhood.It will also notify you by e-mail if a sex offender moves in or out of your neighborhood.Your family and friends around the state should be given this website. It was started by John Walsh ,who as you know has worked for over 25 years to protect our children.

One side note . I happened to get a e-mail alert and was on the site. I was just looking aroun Thornton and Northglenn areas,where I saw a cluster of sex offenders in one area about 6. I looked closer and they all lived either right next to an elementary school or a few houses away. I was stunned. I wonder how many parents of the children of that school realize their are so many sex offenders living right next to their school.

Also there is a little known Adams 12 school rule that they are supposed to give parents a map of sex offenders in their school boundery of that child. It is never followed.
I'll see if I can find it again or if this is a statewide school policy.

Never stop speaking out and let's get Jessica's Law passed.

but we have all these wonderful social workers who know the best for these children until something happens and then its someone elses fault as they are over worked. sorry but social workers only go on what feels good and I have never seen one do anything really to promote safety past stating a law that is not enforced by anyone.

maybe they could also be in charge of health care when it goes socialized.

It's the American way to give people a way to rant and vent their spleens, but hopefully some people with common sense will get involved and try to improve the way the human services people deal with this terrible problem.

If people with some discipline and common sense get involved, you won't see them making asinine extremist statements such as you see above.

Writing letters is important and I wish more people would do that. But the letters should not be rants such as you see above, but thoughtful letters which don't have as the object to demonize most everyone involved in human services. and the legislature.

Think it's bad now? Let's appoint Truth to head Children's services.

Mexican-American resents footing the bill

I am a person of Hispanic descent and I have to tell you that it makes me angry that the other persons of Hispanic descent are expecting us as taxpayers to foot the bill for the education of their children in a bilingual school.
That doubles the expense of educating children. Why is it up to us to interpret the English language for these folks? If the parents of the children would educate themselves prior to coming to our country, perhaps it wouldn’t be as expensive for the schools and maybe then more schools could remain open.
It’s wrong for immigrants who come to this country to expect us to foot the bill for their every need! So let’s not blame the school district for the problems; how about we look in the mirror!
We can’t allow this abuse of our good graces and our programs that were designed for the American people to continue.
I am Mexican myself, however my family came here legally and assimilated to the American way of life including speaking the language of the land — English. If immigrants really want to contribute to America, that would be a good place to start!

Truth sits high on his throne and criticizes everyone else.
He must be a Communist because he has elected himself supreme being of all knowledge.
No one else is allowed to speak their mind,and if it is not up to his high moral standards then everyone else must bow down to him ,because he is able to Wikapedia every topic.

We who post on here are passionate about some topics. Mine being children.Our children are treated with less respect than animals.

According to The Almighty " Truth" he is the only one who decides what posts are appropiate.He is the one with all the knowledge and we are just stupid people who rant.

The only way Truth gets mad is if he can't get his granddaughter's Math Book because he can't figure out the 5th grade math.

The TRUTH is; "truth" is a coward.

Most counties welcome qualified volunteers to help in their programs. There are also several non-profits whose sole purpose is to protect young children from harm.

By all means, write to your legislators and ask for more workers and better follow through. But please take the time to get involved personally.

Clearly the posters here feel they have superior ideas and can implement more comprehensive services than are presently in place. For the sake of at-risk children in your community, please do more than post anonymous blogs.

(And yes, I do volunteer 20-25 hours a month in just such a program.)

Child Social Services along with most foster parents need a spanking. This organization reminds me of the Hitler Nazi youth groups in Germany. They encouraged kids to snich on their parents if the spoke bad about Hitler and the Nazi's. The Gestapo would come in the night and haul off daddy and mommie to the concetration camps.

CSS also encourages kids to snitch on their parents at school if the discipline them with a spanking. The difference is they come and haul away the children and place them in a foster homes for some real child abuse.

Just remember that anything that has "Social" in the name is a bad thing. Kind of like Hillary's Socialized Medicine plan and her othe socialized plans for this country.
Just ask the majority of Russian and Cuban people or the Dalai Lama.
