Convicted killer finally caught
Tuesday, October 9 at 2:00 PM

Leroy M Martinez of Denver writes:

The convicted killer who was on the run for thirty years claims to be a good person and an excellent citizen. Always obeying the law. Is this because of was on the run and had to stay below the radar? Of course he had to be a good person, he was on the run from the law. Do not forget that he killed a person thirty years ago.

Let's not forget that George W. Bush, as Texas Governor sent more people to their deaths than any other but he gets to be president.

If Texas as the death penalty - it wasn't him that did it - it was the jury of their PEERS! Dumbass! Committing murder is ILLEGAL and one must pay the price according to the LAW.

Alex, Alex, Alex. Your antiBush sentiment is so misguided. As Bw and C stated it was not Bush who executed these people. Bush may have had the authority and power to stop thier executions but it was a group of the decists peers that sentanced and condemd them to death.

As to this murderer that was recently caught. He should have his day in court with a jury of his peers as well. Then be executed afterwards.

For those who think capitol punishment is so inhumane think about this. You would rather torture a person then put him down. By placeing a person in an 8 x 10 room with no other human contact cept at feeding time and an hour a day by themselves in the yard. Which is crueler? It is inhumane to inprison a person to this and make them stay alone for 30 to 40 years till they pass away naturally. Oh by the way it costs over $32,000 a year to keep this person by themselves. A waste of taxpayers money over the long hail as the said convict will not rehabilitate.

thirty years ago that is close to the time Mary Jo was killed in a car by a now almost retired senator from boston.

Thanks Leroy for writing such a well constructed letter that we know who you were talking about. Since I have not read of anyone matching the criteria of your letter recently, I am going to assume you meant the man from New Jersey who executed his family than moved to Denver and built a new life. He actually made no excuses after being caught and has a warped outlook that he got to enjoy his parole while he was young enough to do it. Not a good man in any sense of the word but, I fail to see the point of your letter.
As for Alex and his detractors, the death penalty is nothing more than vengence murder committed by the state. It does not make society safer. States with the death penalty are the most dangerous, states and nations without the death penalty are far safer and more civilized. It is also far more expensive to execute someone than to keep them in prison for life without parole. Most important of all, since the advent of modern DNA testing over 100 prisoners have been exonerated by the DNA. Many others have questionable convictions. In Illinois an outgoing Republican governor commuted all death sentences because the Chicago PD was proven to have obtained multiple confessions through torture (real torture not putting underwear on your head w.v. nat'l guard style) in death penalty cases. In short, by allowing so many state murders lil bush was his own third world despot in Texas.

Actually, The death sentence does make society safer. There is not one single case of recidivism associated with one put to death by the state. That is a pretty darned good statistic.

Alex, despite the meatheads above revealing themselves, your letter is right on. Thanks.
