Dems dummy up
Thursday, October 18 at 12:01 AM

The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) now covers more than
600,000 adults and allows some families making more than $70,000 to get
taxpayer-discounted insurance. I pay for health insurance for my family though
our income is under that threshold.
The Democrats in Congress want to increase funding for that program and broaden
eligibility. I have asked my Democratic senator and representative why they
support using my tax money to fund medical insurance for a 25-year-old "child" from a family
that has an income of $70,000. I have not received a response. Perhaps a
question from the Rocky Mountain News would elicit a response. Please try.

I've never met a 25 year old child. If the government is going to classify a person 25 years and younger a child ,I think they should raise the drinking age to 25. I think they should raise the driving age to at least 21.I think the voting age should be raised to 25.I think the smoking age should be raised to 25.

How about extending school and letting High Schools have children graduating at 21,instead of 18.

Extending children's health coverage to any age over 18 is ridiculous.

Mr. Bush did the right thing.

I'm tired of the propaganda on this issue. It's not that he doesn't want the SCHIP program. It's what the Democrats did to it to make it such a beauracratic nightmare.

The Democrats were put in power to show how much people disapproved of President Bush. You reep what you sow.

What have the Democrats done since they took the majority?

What have the Democrats done since they took the majority?
told more lies and gone after talk radio for pointing out their lies. the talk show host do not have free speech only air america people do.
Oh wait they did raise the minimum wage to a still unlivable wage that they didnt want at the current rate. they are going after the health care of the country to turn it into shambles and have it run like every other nightmare the government runs.

And that 25 year old child might already be covered by a private plan. And moving a young adult already covered by a private plan onto a taxpayer supported plan isn't progress--its totally insane.

You didn't get any response because you asked a bunch of imbeciles for a logical explaination.

What have the Repuglicans done since thay took over the Big House. Let's see they went to war with a country that had nothing to do with 911 They killed more Americans (military) than were killed on 911. They LIED about reasons for going to war. They are responsible for more than a million deaths of Iraq citizens. They have decided that since the US does not "torture" enemy combatiants they will ship them to other countries that do "torture" and let them do our dirty work.
So the Dem's want you to pay a little more for the health care of Americans and you rage at them? What we pay for occupation of Iraq in one day will cover the cost of SCHIP for the year.

HOW ABOUT THIS DEM DUMMY:

Portuguese neurologist Egas Moniz received the 1949 Nobel Prize in medicine for "his discovery of the therapeutic value of [prefrontal lobotomy] in certain psychoses," including depression and schizophrenia. The prefrontal lobotomy operation, in which the nerve fibers connecting the frontal lobe with other parts of the brain were cut, and which often made patients zombie-like, would be repudiated by the medical community within a decade.

Al Gore, the latest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is a similarly poor choice, one likely not to stand the test of time.

Those of you in the minority on the far right of this issue are simply waging a ridiculous war against inevitiability.

Our current system is working great. Unless of course you are concerned about providing healthcare to people. I have made lots and lots of money so please don't consider any other kind of system. If you get sick and die it doesn't really matter. (you'll be dead try not to think about it) Got to go, shopping for an indoor pool, yipppeeee!!

"The Dems are melting down, they can't pass ANYTHING."

Exactly.

I'll say it again....you folks on the right need to stop obstructing initiatives and legislation with the support of the vast majority of Americans or the Nov 06-like beatings will continue.

Any questions?

I'll tell you what my private insurance does for me.

If negotiates prices with healthcare providers, instead of letting them charge me and my insurance $300 for an office visit.

It negotiates prices for tests and procedures that need to be done to keep healthy, like blood tests, treadmill tests,x-rays etc...

It keeps health costs down for my family and I.

I can know what a procedure will cost and where to go to get it done and save thousands of dollars.I do have deductibles that are applied to certain tests, procedures and hospital fees. This is when I go onto my insurance website and look for places to get precedures done.

For example: My husbands Dr. wanted him to get a treadmill test.He told him to go to St.Anthony's N. I called the hospital to get a price for the out-patient procedure. His was a simple one that took about 1/2 hour.
They quoted me a price of $2,700 just for the procedure. This did not include hospital facility fees. I couldn't get a anawer on how much those charges were.

It would have cost us a $500 deductible,$100 out-patient procedure fee, plus 20% of entire bill, because we didn't reach our deductables for the year.

I called a Cardiologist Practice across the street and asked them if they did the procedure and was quoted a fee of $275,all covered by insurance, since it was a DR's office, all my husband had to pay is a $25 co-pay.

Private Insurance works when you work with it , instead of against it.

If you have private insurance , you should be treating it like a savings account.Shop around and try to save yourself and insurance company money. Each person in my family has a million dollar limit. So I treat my insurance like I have a million dollars in the bank. Why would I want to go to a hospital for a simple out-patient procedure that is going to cost me and my insurance company thousands of dollars, instead of going somewhere that does the same procedure for a couple hundred?

I do not want government in my healthcare! They screw up eveything they touch.

Leave me and my private insurance alone.

I hope Hank becomes on of those who has to declare bankruptcy due to a medical situation. He may think that insurance will cover his expenses but like a lot of other people he will be surprised.

cruton at 12:09...take a civics class....the obstructionism of initiatives and legislation with the support of the vast majority of Americans by the Republicans is the reason for the low poll numbers in congress.

Posted by jay on October 18, 2007 12:54 PM

pEOPLE THINK THAT THE HEALTHCARE PROVIDED BY THE GOVERNMENT IS A GRAET THING AND WILL NOT COST THEM. I RECOMMEND GOING TO YOUR NEIGHBORS AND ASK EACH OF THEM TO GIVE YOU $5.00 TO HELP PAY FOR YOUR'S AND YOUR FAMILY'S HEALTHCARE AND SEE THE RESULTS YOU GET. THIS IS BASICALLY WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU ASK THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR THINGS. FINNALLY I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO NAME ONE GOVERNMENT RUN PROGRAM THAT WORKS THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO.

hey train we can only hope that you get to see a doc if you get ill and they think you are worth the treatment.
did you ever notice that hillbillary's pant suit looks a lot like the one Mao use to wear? they make her look so stately

Posted by on October 18, 2007 01:00 PM

little jay is not the same as big Jay, and his poll results could have come from one simple question:

Do you want to have more taxpayer dollars spent on you for whatever your want?

The answers would be about the same.

I certainly don't want more of my tax $$$ going towards the wealthy or towards Hillary's coming national health care plan, which will mandate you participate in it or you won't be eligible to work. It will however have the unintended consequence of having more American citizens paying for medical care for illegal aliens, because it has no provision for denying services to illegal aliens.

Didn't we have 50 years of fighting Socialism?
How about using private HSA's? Health savings accounts that is. If you can't afford outrageously priced health insurance, put some money into your own health savings account every month and try to stay healthy. After all, life is just one big roll of the dice.
Good health and good luck to all.

Posted by Jay on October 18, 2007 01:13 PM

Dear Mr. Potts,
If you oppose using tax dollars to pay for health care for Americans, Why don't you decry the billions upon billions of dollars in largesse our congress bequeaths to Israel and Egypt every year, year after year? Surely there is not a more wasteful use of our resources than that.

Posted by on October 18, 2007 02:00 PM

Jay...fortunately for the people of the country...you and your ilk are in the vast minority.

Posted by jay on October 18, 2007 02:37 PM

Jay,
Have you ever considered the way these polls are produced and by whom?
You or I could make a poll answer come out the way we want it just by wording it properly. So your point that the "Far right" are playing obstructionist is mute because the Dems are forcing through programs that are far too excessive and the american public if asked that question would probably answer the same way - with an overwhelming dissatisfication level.

Jack...the last vestige of a cornered far right wingers is to attack the science.

At least you're predictable.
