C'mon Leroy, have the utility companies EVER worried about whether you eat or not? Old people going cold?

Posted by c on October 28, 2007 02:49 PMAccording to the corporate apologists on the board, Xcel is giving you what you want at a price you want to pay. That's what corporations do. Of course, you can always shop around at all the other elecric and gas companies for lower prices - oh, that's right - you can't!
Sorry so many have to decide to be cold or be hungey, but the company will make more money, and that's what counts.
Hey, it cost money to subsidize the poor, if you want socialistic practices, get used to paying for them too.
Posted by Uno on October 28, 2007 03:53 PMI do not understand the fear of it being cold. Al GOre has told us that global warming is here and happening now. If this is the case it won't be cold but warm. If it is warm why do you need a furnace?
I sure wish the left and tree huggers would make up thier mind on this. How can it be warm and cold at the same time?

That may be the most stupid statement I've ever seen on these boards, and I think we could all agree that that's really saying something.
Posted by Notable on October 28, 2007 05:20 PMXcel Energy is very nervy. Draftdodgers; CEO Richard Kelly and Tim Taylor, stole two jobs from me. Now they are raising my gas rates. Too bad USDOL/OFCCP/OSHA/MSHA Secy. Chao, is a GOP "nullified toothless tiger". Chao is the policewoman congress assigned to protect military veterans job and contracting benefits, across all racial lines. She has opted to ignore black disabled military veterans, who are banned from Xcel's 6-figure jobs.
Chao also didn't investigate GOP donor Chips Barry (draft-evader), Manager, Denver Water, when Denver Water worker Shawn Patilla (black) was killed while recklessly performing maintenance on a pipe and valve, that was under 90 p.s.i. Barry is criminalize beause he shirked his employee oversight safety duties. Chao is denying Shawn his constitutional right to speak from his watery grave.
Chao and the USAG won't be prosecuting GOP donors Kelly and Taylor, and they are also guilty of criminal negligence, which caused the recent death of 5 workers inside a pipe in Georgetown.
US Sen. Shamnesty Salazar, captain, SS Amnesty (just another slave ship), should throw Denver blacks a bone, and force Chao and the USAG to investigate Shawn's death, as they required to by FEDERAL law. Chao did investigate the death of a criminal illegal Mexican worker, who was killed in a construction death. Shamnesty made her do it.
Posted by 40acresandmymuleandNAMvetbennies on October 28, 2007 05:30 PMIt's time for a Universal Heat program. Heat for everyone. We'll just tax the "rich" a little more. We can add Universal Heat to other Democrat proposals:
Universal Health Care
Universal retirement accounts
Universal pre-kindergarten
Universal college
And $5000 for every newborn baby.
Universal Air Conditioning will be the clincher for me. I'll quit my high paying job for a lower tax bracket job. Perhaps I'll live the high-life flipping burgers at McDonalds.
Posted by on October 28, 2007 10:54 PMThere are already programs out there to help low income people with their heating bills.
I personally know of one family who gets LEAP to pay their high heating bills, averaging $250 dollars a month or more. That is twice the amount of my bill for gas and electric. Why?
The mother thinks her bird will get cold if she doesn't keep the thermostat on 75 degrees or more.So her idiot mind costs other people who do try to conserve and need help, from getting help.
She always gets her bills paid by LEAP or other agencies because she collects a Social Security Disability check every month for her and both of her kids. All three are more than capable to get jobs.
Who could turn down free SSD money, free healthcare, free food, free utilities, lower cost housing and have to pay for nothing.
This is our future for the tax paying public.
There needs to be a major overhaul of all agencies handing out free money to cheats.
Posted by Can I get an AMEN! on October 29, 2007 08:07 AMI have delivered gift packages for the poor during Christmas season. One thing I have noticied is how hot all these poor people keep their homes in the winter. I guess if they ain't paying for it why should they care.
Posted by on October 29, 2007 10:05 AM"I understand the concept of supply and demand..."
Really? Then please explain this concept to the guy for whom you probably voted. Tell Ritter to get the energy-rich Roan and Vermillion back into paly. And until he does, just expect bigger heating bills and more tax hikes.
Posted by Hank on October 29, 2007 11:00 AM$250 heating bill? Mine's about $80 less than that (gas AND electric and I have a B.A.H. (Big-ass House).
Posted by on October 29, 2007 10:12 PMThe folks who don't have to pay for heat usually have the thermostat set at 85 in the winter, while they keep their windows open so they can vent their cigarette smoke.
And where will Hillary get her $5,000 for every new child? It won't be from her bank account, it will be from each of ours.
Aint Socialism Great?
