This Saturday will mark the strident efforts of rabble-rousing racists led by Glenn Morris, the CU professor who complains about what America has become while he feeds at the teat of a taxpayer-funded university job. I always wondered how his ilk could drum up numbers of people until I realized that many protesters are likely getting some sort of university credit for their participation. You’ve really got to love the atmosphere in Boulder that attracts Ward Churchill and his buddies.
The last time these racists planned a major interruption of the Denver Columbus Day Parade was in 1992. They were successful in their efforts that year, by threatening violence against the parade participants, which included women and children.
Why do I refer to them as racists? They have their own parade on the same day, which no other group attempts to interrupt. But that parade is a sham event, because their true purpose is to interrupt or stop the Columbus Day Parade. And what is the Columbus Day Parade? It is more than a celebration of the Italian community or Italian pride. It is a celebration that the mixed races of the world, mostly persecuted people, were able to create the most successful country in the history of the world.
Is everyone in the United States of America united? No; and as long as there are fringe groups on the periphery who would rather blame others than to help their own, there will be protestors. However, this is one of the few nations in the world those protestors have the ability to protest their own nation, until they encroach on the rights of others.

Larry, I agree with you. Glen Morris is a racist. Why CU puts up with racists I wouldn't know.

Because CU is full of liberal idiot professors... like most of the colleges in the U.S. We will see the result of their extreme anti-American left wing thinking in a few years. Be warned!!!!

I personally thank God on a regular basis for Ward Churchill, Glenn Morris, and the rest of the extreme leftist block at CU Boulder. Keeping these badly aging hippies around as cautionary examples is priceless. Their yearly antics, when they confuse themselves into believing it is their glory days in the 60s or 30s or whenever they thought they were cool, are disruptive but demonstrate what can happen if people get educated but fail to actually learn something.

Their species should be carefully studied scientists before they go extinct due to loss of habitat and Starbucks poisoning. We must preseve these "Hippies In The Mist".

What ever happened to "Free Speech"? Is it only valid when it coincides with the radical left?

I don't believe you really understand the concept of racism at all... but that aside, Columbus never actually set foot in what is now the United States, and he did directly or indirectly cause the death of millions of people. Surely there is somebody else in Italian history more worthy of praise. Not to mention that Columbus brough glory and wealth to Spain, not Italy. Other than being born in Italy, is there any good reason for him to represent Italian pride at all?

And the comment about college credit for joining the protest is insanely stupid. There isn't a nice way to put it honestly... total stupidity. And Glenn Morris teaches at CU Denver... Though anything to get Ward Churchill into a conversation I suppose.

How much outrage, press coverage and wringing of hands would occur if a group of whites decided to put equal effort into protesting the annual Cinco De Mayo festivities?

Just a thought.
