Heartbroken
Tuesday, October 2 at 12:01 AM

I am truly heartbroken to hear about the deaths of Sgt. Omar Mora and Sgt. Yance Gray, two of the seven active-duty soldiers who wrote a New York Times Op-Ed piece refuting the right-wing talking points of the Iraq war (“Mom wants answers in soldiers’ deaths,” Sept. 13).
They have heroically given up their lives, and left wives and daughters behind, because it was their duty to follow the orders of the commander-in-chief. Each one of us needs to write to his or her congressional representatives and let them know we are done with Bush’s war. Our troops need to come home and protect us here.
Our national security is not aided by continuing operations in Iraq.

Where are the wingnuts on this one. Surely you need to trash these dead soldiers because they dared to question Bush/Cheney Co. Oh I guess actually fighting in the war is foreign to the Chickenhawks.

These are the fellows who that fat tub of lard, Rush Limbaugh called "phony soldiers". I seem to recall that Rush got a draft deferment because of a boil on his ass. What outrage to see such comments from the likes of pond scum like Limbaugh, who are fine with other people's children suffering in war as long as he doesn't have to do any suffering himself.

You won't see the wingnuts in this forum. What's the phase "cut n run".

Moveon.org needs to push this and get him off the air like the right did to Dan Rather.

Not so fast, my friend. Former congressman BoPeep got a draft deferment because he suffered from sever flatulence (inability to F-A-R-T). Didn't we have "TUMS" in 1965? It didn't stop him from playing football and getting a "physical ed" (CU) degree. BoPeep lied and stated he had a BS Education degree. Tancredo blew off NAM because he suffered from "depression", however he hasn't surrendered any Rx records or medical treatment records to support his "smoke and mirrors".

Blacks like me during the NAM, weren't allowed to join VISTA, Nat'l Guard, or to have "gas" or "depression". Chips Barry opted for VISTA (AK), as his NAM sanctuary. While he was "deployed" there, Barry must have learned his high preessure piping and valve repair skills from BP. Black deceased Denver Water worker Shawn Patilla, is in his watery grave, because Barry "decided", a black hourly-wage foreman caused Shawn's death. Bush (BENEDICT ARNOLD) refused to allow USDOL-OSAH Secy. Chao to investigate Shawn's death. Bush did permit Chao to investiogate the occupational death of a Denver criminal illegal Mexican and a white woman who was killed at the Denver Zoo.

SAG Suthers, Denver DA, JLoop, Groff, Fitz-Gerald, Marshall, T. Carroll, Jones, Milliner, Poole, Allard, and Shamnesty Salazar, are also guilty of denying Shawn his constitutional right to speak from his grave.

Good letter Jeri.

I can't help but notice that the usual crowd of war/occupation supporters that fill so many of the Rockies blogs have not flooded this letter with their venom. It is quite nice. Perhaps, deep their souls there still remains a bit of decency.

The US occupation of Iraq violates most American Ideals. We are transforming our soldiers into thieves and murders. These sergeants added their voices to the other whistleblowers(CPT Fishback et al), resisters (LT Watada et al) and other courageous military members that object to that tranformation.

The real betrayal of our military lies with the Congress that let Bush usurp it's power. Most Republicans AND Democrats are the employees the groups that want and benefit from this occupation (Big Oil, the New World Order and Zionism). It would only take 41 Senators to end the funding of the Iraq occupation and Bush could not stop that action.

True courage is breaking from the herd, and speaking out on the wrong intents of your mission.

Posted by Holy Reality on October 2, 2007 08:52 AM

Holy Reality,

Are you speaking about the courage that Rep. Sen. Haskel from Nebraska has for breaking from the herd in publicly speaking against this war or Rush L. calling soldiers who fight and die for this country "phony" because they don't agree with his garbage?

Posted by right-always-wrong on October 2, 2007 09:49 AM

There's nothing anyone can say that will bring this mother her child back. For every mother questioning the rational for this war, there's one who understands that death comes with war. And that they're child volunteered to serve his country.

The NYT article is doing nothing more than preying on this mothers grief. Much the way moveon.org "backed" Cindy Sheehan. The used and abused that poor lady. Now she's broke and beaten down. Where's MO.org now?

As for the Rush Limbaugh reference. THE soldier he referred was in fact a PHONY soldier. He didn't say they were all phony soldiers. Go to youtube watch the clip. It's all there. The phony soldier, Jesse MacBeth, failed boot camp. Yet the press bought hook line and sinker his "stories" and printed them as "gospel".

I guess you have to be an anti war to go over the death of two soldiers to make a point for the liberal lefts adgenda for you to feel better. why is it that none of you could express anything other than hate towards others at this time? I would assume that it is because you really dont care but can use it to advance your hatered.
please go get jesse and ask him how he would react to the actual soldiers in combat and who made it through basic training, and not booted out after just 44 days, and have given the ultimate sacrafice for their country.
someone please let media matters know that abc ran the story first on the phony soldier. maybe 949 could if he gets someones permission to speak the truth for once.

my thoughts and prayers go out the the families of these to fine young men.

Hmmmm, It is a surprise that a small percentage of soldiers are against the war? wow... Im so surprised...sarcasm off. Of course there are. In any population of people of any size, there will be differences of opinion on every subject imaginable. So what?

For every person opposed, you can trot out someone who is for a subject. People tend to reflect well on those with the same ideas. So, leftists like when a Soldier decries the war and those on the right believe the Soldier who supports the war. Wow, hard to believe....

I grieve for the losses, but see the problems we face if we lose.

Dravur,
"I grieve for the losses, but see the problems we face if we lose."

The trouble is we lost before Saddam's statue fell. Hubris like expecting flowers and candy, and Bring em on, show the intent of the planners. The plan was never to bring freedom to Iraq.

The plan was to divide the Iraqis, and have an occupation go like this. Halliburton, and Blackwater are raking in obscene profits, while Americans die by the thousands, and Iraqis die by the hundreds of thousands.

The idea that victory is our only choice, is designed to keep afraid Americans from supporting the only sane choice, withdrawl. Bush has taken the greatest fighting force in the world, and put them in a position where Arab teenagers have broken us.

It has been proven impossible for an occupying force to succeed in a land of hostile natives. But by all means keep wishing for a Vichy Iraqi government, maybe Santa will bring it this year.

Keith and Hank, Sittin' In A Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Hmmm, still in your adolescent years, huh?

“These are the fellows who that fat tub of lard, Rush Limbaugh called "phony soldiers".”

Not to mention you are lying about who Limbaugh was referring to.

right-always-wrong and, Keith and Hank, Sittin' In A Tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G,

Rush Limbaugh was NOT talking about “soldiers who fight and die for this country” when he used the term “phony soldiers.” And I believe you know that by now, but still use this forum to foment fabrications about a conservative. You two are inciting a phony story.

A caller talked to Limbaugh about how the media migrates to phony soldiers like Jesse MacBeth. It was at that point in the conversation that Limbaugh used the term “phony soldiers.” He was not talking about soldiers who simply disagree with the war in Iraq.

But why let the truth get in the way of a good fairytale, right?

Jay and 11:49 AM,

Good points. The lefties on this forum seize this opportunity to use dead soldiers as a means to concoct lies about those with whom they disagree. And they are probably among the group who would call Bush a liar.

There are real soldiers who did not wash out of basic training after only 44 days and who have not lied about being wounded in Iraq claiming to have earned a Purple Heart, who have NOT been interviewed by the major media to get their REAL stories, who really ARE fighting and dying for this country. Yet when Democrat Senator John Murtha says those real soldiers and Marines killed innocent Iraqi citizens, calling them cold-blooded murderers, those same lefties, both on this forum and in the Senate, remained totally silent.

When Hillary Clinton said to General David Petraeus that she would have to suspend her disbelief to buy into what he said about progress in Iraq, essentially calling him a liar in flowery language and leaving absolutely no doubt about what she was calling a real soldier, the lefties remained totally silent except to applaud her.

Thick hypocrisy. Very thick hypocrisy.

Apparently, public discourse is great as long as it falls within the lines of liberal public discourse. Personal opinions are terrific as long as they are liberal personal opinions.

Those Democrats in the Senate who spend time decrying what they claim Limbaugh said and spending time distorting the content of his comment seem to have missed the part in the Constitution which states that Congress shall pass no law restricting the freedom of speech. They are actually attempting to pass a resolution forcing him to apologize. They want him to apologize for something he did not even say. But even if he did say what they claim he said, he has a right to say it.
