Jena 6 & OJ Simpson
Once again activist American Blacks prove that they are leaders in and at the forefront of American society’s charge for human rights. By peacefully descending thousands strong on the tiny Louisiana town of Jena to protest the apparent discrepancy in charges between the White and Black kids in their high-school racial ‘dispute’ 9/20 they’ve certainly reconfirmed this in my mind. It was reassuring to see such spontaneous action by so many concerned and dedicated (to not returning to the past) people and is something we can all be proud of.
It was certainly a positive contrast to the news of that murdering idiot OJ Simpson’s arrest. And as for OJ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the old words ‘Those Whom the Gods would destroy would first drive mad’ seem to seriously apply here.
For him to behave as if none of the rules of a civilized society apply to him in that pathetic ‘I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ statement indicates to me that the Gods and perhaps his own ego are indeed driving him mad. Well the first part seems a done deal.

BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA..... Sharpton and Jackson... leaders in the forefront.... sorry, have to breath....the laughter....
They maybe leaders to some, but to others, they are opportunistic, money grubbing hacks only out for one thing.... lining their own pockets. They use extortion to get that cash as they have no other marketable skills.
Posted by Dravur on October 2, 2007 03:40 PMOhhh, Dravur- kind of harsh, but you made me laugh. No, really, aside from any personal opinions on race relations, which are obviously in need of dire improvement on both sides of the issue, consider this- do you really think, Grant, that having thousands of angry blacks and pseudo-civil rights activists IMPROVED race relations in Jena? I would think that all it's residents, black and white, have just become more polarized in their positions. No, places like Jena have a long way to go to improve PEOPLE relations- and until they stop seeing everything in terms of black and white, it just won't happen. That's the point that activists like Sharpton and Jackson don't get- they must take ownership for the violence, also, along with the whites. Shame on ALL the adults in that community who have allowed this hatred to foment- they should know better.
Posted by raysmom on October 2, 2007 04:10 PMGrant, it appears that you have been duped, along with millions of others in this country. The media accounts are not the whole story. Not even close. This story was spoon fed to the media to advance an agenda.
The most intelligent commentary I've read on the situation in Jena comes from Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star.

Some important background from Whitlock. On opportunism.

Posted by RU Serious on October 2, 2007 07:50 PMWow RU Serious that was a great article. I hope many read it.
Posted by on October 2, 2007 08:46 PMAfter reading the background on this issue, I can't believe that folks are rallying around the Jena 6. From what I see:
1. There is a great disparity in the crimes committed- in one case, teens use symbols but don't hurt anyone physically, in the other case, teens brutally attack another. There just is no comparison.
2. Yes, inequality in prosecution, is something to be protested if proven. Even if there was, the "inequality" shouldn't excuse the later behavior or provide a basis for lesser prosecution, especially when one of the ring leaders has a history already!
Three white students putting nooses in a tree near their school is exactly the same crime as six black kids jumping on an unconscious white boy's head.
The three white kids who hung the nooses should be charged with attempted murder or the six black kids should be charged with playing a minor prank.
The crimes are identical, so the charges should be identical too.
Beating someone to a pulp is precisely the same as making a racist statement. There is no difference in the eyes of the law.
Anyone who disagrees only proves to the world how truly racist they are.
Posted by Republican Guy on October 2, 2007 09:18 PMRepublican Guy, was that sarcasm? If not, I hope you get beat to a bloody pulp so while you're getting beat you'll wish all they were doing was harmlessly throwing a rope around a tree.
By the way, most of the MSM won't report this but the Jena 6 is actually the Jena 7. There were seven blacks against one white boy.
Posted by John II on October 2, 2007 10:00 PMSo are we saying that what happens in Jena stays in Las Vegas?
Posted by Jimminy on October 3, 2007 09:26 AMOr are we saying that Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered for having interracial sex?
Posted by Jimminy on October 3, 2007 09:30 AMThe beating incident took place a full three months after the noose-hanging incident. This was nothing more than some delinquent juveniles (with prior assaults on their records) jumping some kid, and using the prior incident as an excuse for their poor judgments and actions. He didn't get charged with attempted murder because he is black; he got charged because he ATTEMPTED to commit MURDER.
Posted by M on October 3, 2007 10:20 AMThis incident is a shocking example of how foolish it is to jump on a bandwagon without knowing the facts. Gullible Sheeple desperately seeking victimhood to avoid personal accountability.
Posted by on October 3, 2007 11:05 AMWould the Jena 7 attack be the same if it were videotaped? Probably not. Another assault didn't seem to get the same attention: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6927010561263080704
Posted by John II on October 3, 2007 11:59 AMThis was hardly attemped murder. The white kid got a good ass-whooping just like the punishment should be for the 3 kids (3 witnessed the beating) that dished out the beating. Fifteen years for a fist-fight that caused no serious injury whatsoever, is extremely excessive.

Well, if you put it that way, perhaps you are right. But, how about fifteen years for an assault by an individual with previous assaults on his criminal record?
