Mike Burns of Lakewood writes:

Even after all the press that was directed towards the Lakewood Mayoral race in regards to one of the candidates intimidating the opponents supporters by stealing yard signs, slashing tires, etc., it would appear that this candidate still continues to take part in these illegal activities! Campaign signs, especially, go missing on a daily basis, and it is happening late at night, early mornings, and on weekends. I recently spoke with a Lakewood Code Enforcement Officer, and he guaranteed me that it was not his department that was removing these signs. The only signs that their department removed were those on public access lands, period! When I drive down the street and see one candidates yard signs untouched, yet his opponents signs are stepped on and bent over, destroyed, or are altogether missing, this means only one thing to me. That this candidate and his supporters are continuing there old tricks, and illegal activities! I assume their goal is to try and sway the vote of this election, by eliminating the opponents’ presence in the community! They are trying to win this election illegally! The citizens of Lakewood need to know these things, because I really don’t think they want a mayor that condones these kinds of illegal activities.
