Moveon.org ad tizzy a diversionary tactic

I’ll believe the right-wingers’ indignity over the “General Betrayus” ad (saying it undermines discourse in this country) when they also come out and denounce the many times this administration and its minions have described us anti-war folks as “traitors” and “cut-and-runners” and “siding with the terrorists.”
Why didn’t the author of “Has Moveon.org no decency?” (Sept. 12) pose the question, “Do the Bush administration and its followers have no decency?” My guess is that the feigned indignity was more about trying to deflect attention from the real story of the day — that Gen. David Petraeus was going to say whatever the Bush administration told him to say and that we’re staying in Iraq even though the majority of Americans want us out.
By the way, I just mailed a substantial check to Move.on.org. I hope they use it to begin exposing all the chicken hawks like Bush, Cheney, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al., and the rest who carry water for this corrupt administration. It’s about time they were exposed for what they are.

Once again another left wants to go with the feel goods plan on things. Tell us oh greatr kathy what would you do? How would you hunt down the missing WMD's that were spirited away to Syria? Tell us how you plan to defend this country from future attacks by extremists?

Do you have a wire tap or a bug in the White House that proves the General is only saying what this admionistration wants said? If so then are you not in violation of privacy? But what would you care as long as it was done against those you do not like, right?

The problem I see is how radical right wingnuts call anyone who questions the actions of this administration traitors. That is right out of the book written by Joseph Paul Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda chief.

Expressing dissent with offical political actions is a historical right of the public and more, is one of the only ways the public has of letting politicians know they disagree with those actions. If I was a influencial republican official, I would be ashamed of those who suggests anyone who opposes the administration is a traitor, if not for the right reason; calling people who are hard working, taxpaying citizens, who happen to disagree with the president, treasonous and traitors is beyond stupidity; and if not that, simply because they are alienating voters.

717 it is so nice to see you read media matters blog and bow down to them. jesse macbeth is the phony soldier who was refered to by NBC and then by Rush. seems jesse follows kerry in his push to prove how bad American GI's are. he reports on the many abuses he saw in iraq and is a true media matters war hero as he spoke out, and even earned a purple heart.
one problem with jesse and his extended millitary service of 44 DAYS, is that it is all lies. he didnt even make it thru boot camp before he got the boot.
so next time do as intelligent people do, put your brain, if you have one, in gear before you open your mouth to look stupid. also you forgot to blast nbc for the same report but they are on your side so I am sure you just forgot to mention that part of the truth.

So why havent the same Republican congressmen who were appalled by MoveOn.org tried passing a resolution against Rush Limbaugh? Limbaugh refers to any servicemen against the war and the administration's policy as being “Phony Soldiers”. Sp now, anyone who opposes Limbaugh is a “Phony”? Did Rush get a new supply of oxycotin or maybe he has moved on to stronger drugs? Is that how the Right shows their ‘support’ by attacking the soldiers that are fighting and dying in Iraq for Iraqi freedom? By denying those soldiers the very freedoms they are trying to give Iraqi citizens? Rush’s name-calling and use of “Phony Soldiers” is especially ironic considering Limbaugh’s own military experience..being a typical chickenhawk he has never served. Personally, I think we'd all be better served worrying about REAL problems, and not what a draft-dodging drug-using gas bag has to say about our military. His opinion is entirely irrelevant.

You would be correct if you're referring to the true traditional conservatism (Pre-Rove and Gingrich) that the Republican party has all but abandoned.

Unfortunately however, these days what many people refer to as "conservatism", is more of a bastardized puritanical movement that has little regard for fiscal discipline, individual responsibility, and limited government.

A true conservative would be aghast by things like the Marriage Amendment and unfettered wiretap provisions, as they defy true conservative philosophy of limited government intrusion and power.

The sad thing about this supposed Limbaugh controversy is the sheer dishonesty by the left, including US senators.

This is way beyond the normal caustic debates about domestic and foreign policy. Senator Harkin accused a private citizen of being high on drugs and accused that citizen of saying something that he obviously did not say.

Has anyone actually read the transcript? It is obvious what Mr. Limbaugh was talking about. He was obviously referring to the liberals falling for a phony story from a phony soldier. It has already been proven that this guy was a fake. Mr. Limbaugh obviously used the plural form of "phony soldiers" to assign a supposed behavior to liberals. In other words, he was exaggerating to make a point.

What 'An American' fails to realize is that there is little difference between MoveOn.org's ad and Rush Limbaugh's remarks. If one is disrespectful to the General, the other is disrespectful to the Troops. BOTH are examples of 'free speech' yet for some reason Republicans seem to think it was OK to attack MoveOn.org and prevent its free speech in their time-wasting resolution yet did not think the same measure was warranted against Rush because its a free speech issue. Which is it fellows? THAT is the inherent problem of Republicans which seems to be " if YOU do the something it is disgraceful or un-American. If we( Republicans) do the same thing, it's OK," or worse they ask for understanding and forgiveness. That pertains to sexual misconduct, cheating, morality, impeachments, and now the 1st amendment. The Republicans have kept up their perfect record as 100% hypocrites.

PunkingOnKeith is a great example of a Democrat liar.He says that there is no difference between what Rush said and MoveOn.orgs ad about General Petraeus'.The truth is MoveOn.org slandered a General with a great service record and Rush was talking about a soldier that lied about his service and was put in jail.The reasons the Democrats are lying about this issue are they want to close down talk radio and they are trying to help the terrorists.Listen to Rush,Sean Hannity or Mark Levin on talk radio and you will see what is really going on in this country.A poster who did not use a name said the NRA is "a tool of the Republican party".The reason the NRA backs the Republican party more than the Democrats is the Republican party has blocked all anti-gun legislation.When the Democrats were in control all anti-gun bills were pushed.They put 75% of gun dealers out of business,banned guns we have owned for 100 years,pushed frivious lawsuits to put gun manufactures out of business and infringed on gun owners "right to privacy" something Democrats claim they care about.To sum it up ,if the NRA backed the Democrat party we would have lost or gun rights years ago.
