John Ruckman of Lakewood writes:

I find all the wrath boiling out of the mouths of GOP pols and the White House regarding the recent ad by Moveon.com to be about as hypocritical as a group can get.
While I agree with them that the ad was in poor taste and should not have been run in a major media outlet, I think back to the much worse and more ongoing ads by the GOP and their mentors about the Kerry war record during that presidential campaign.
Those were likely the worst—and most phony ads I can remember. There was never a peep out of George Bush or Dick Cheney at that time. In fact, there were a number of GOP operatives such as Karl Rove, who thought the ads were great and talked them up in private fund raisers, etc.
This kind of campaign advertising should be stopped by all sides—but it won’t be. Some, particularly the far right have found a market for this trash and so, it will likely get even worse as we near the 2008 elections. This country seems to be in a mode that favors personal assassination over sound and reasoned policy statements. I don’t think that will improve the quality of our candidates or our country in the future.

There is no quality in any of our so called candidates. They all suck! End of story!

Both political parties are making sure that the American people have nothing but a dim and dreary future!

Great attempt at middle of the road commontary there John but I think this kind of campaign advertising should be stopped mainly because of the extreme hatred, bias truths by our liberals. Those private meeting by the likes of John Kerry with the North Viet. during the pease talks while our soldiers we're still in the battle field. But your right we should be more warm and fuzzy, yea that will work.

I agree, there is not a candidate I trust, the Dem's won't step up because they want the next election, the republican candidates are just more of the same. They all make me sick, we need something to save this sinking ship we are on and we need it fast!!!

A good way to stop the lies from both sides would be to create a civil recourse if the accusers can't back up their source. Let Patraeus get a judgement for for $25mil aganst moveon and I'm pretty sure they'd be bankrupt in no time.

Look at all of the idiots that wrote the drivel in the Moveon ad now hand wringing over what they "Say" Rush said. Of course they'll never listen to the full discussion because it would instantly shut them up when they realize how far out of context the statement was taken. Doesn't fit their agenda to dig deeper.
Mark Udall keep up up the fight mister and you'll see your chances of becoming a senator evaporate. People are not that stupid.

Hard to take Rush out of context when the fat drug addict falsifies his own transcripts. He may have dodged the draft for a boil on his butt, but his followers are walking anal cysts.

The difference is that the swiftboat troops were just explaining the truth about Kerry.

the differebnce is that the swiftboaters were a bunch of druggies ( maybe Rush could have served after all?) bought and paid for by the Republicans. If Petraeus was a Democrat then the slander would be OK
