Moveon.org’s ad
Friday, October 5 at 11:50 AM

Daniel W. Brickley of Littleton writes:

Re: “Senate condemns Petraeus ad; GOP condemns Dems,” 9/21/07.
The ad offered one extreme statement supported by three factual paragraphs.
Yet it drove Republicans to hysterical hypocrisy, showing again how intellectually bankrupt they’ve become when it comes to governing.
For three decades Republican officials and media touts have poisoned American politics, maintaining a power base through character assassination, falsehood and the emotional oversimplification of complex issues. But they can’t tolerate criticism directed toward them.
Thus Senate Republicans have deplored the MoveOn ad and conned some clueless Democrats into condemning the ad – and free speech – and into glorifying the military as a group immune from criticism.
For years I have called Republicans “Recorporcans,” because their primary interest isn’t the public. Perhaps, I will also say “Reprussiacans” now and then, since they are drooling militarists, too.

"DONT TAZE ME BRO"

Yep, all you need to do is avoid disagreeing at the DNC, and you should be fine.

"glorifying the military as a group immune from criticism"

Unless they criticize the war, at which point it is fine to call them "phony soldiers" and lie or alter transcripts to cover up what you said.

Where's the Rethuglicon outrage at Rush Limbaugh's baseless criticism of soldiers who disagree with his political views?

Posted by on October 5, 2007 02:53 PM

Hey Liberals, You've got to get out of "Bootcamp" before you can be called anykind of soldier. I mean you do know that, don't you?

Posted by FW on October 5, 2007 04:05 PM

FW,

Are you in boot camp now? Did you serve? Are there only conservative reublicans in the military?

I agree that the Republicans have become intellectually bankrupt as the letter writer states. That being a given, what term do you use to describe Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy and the rest.
The entire House & Senate is a no-brainer.

Hey TAZE,

What are you progressing towards?

Hi Grouch, I responded yesterday but had a glitch not sure it posted. Don't you just love how the Rocky Mountain Nuisance changes the format everyday.

danny,You stupid idiot,there were no facts in that ad.That is a fact,retard.

Posted by Keith on October 6, 2007 08:58 AM

So with that whopper full of intellectual prowess, Keith must be saying that the endless drivel that vomits forth from his sewer is so chocked full of facts?

I don't think the letter writer claimed that what he wrote was fact, but seems more like an opinion...that happens to be what most people post here. Maybe you should share yours sometime instead of insults and drivel.

Also, you must be living under a rock in the stone age if you think that any polictical ad, ReTHUG or Dem, has facts in it.

Both exercises of each party spending valuable time and tax payer money on who said the worst thing is ridiculious.

Though I disagree with both parties grandstanding.

The Moveon ad was attacking a man who has served his country and has made progress with his surge in Iraq plan.
The moveon ad was prepared well in advance of General Petraeus's testimony and it was only done to make an honorable man look like a liar, before he even had a chance to speak.

What the ad did was make the Democrats look bad and the war look better after he testified.Bad news for the Democrats.
Moveon tried to smear an American Soldier and ended up making the Democrats look like monkeys. It backfired and the Democratic candidates refused to condemn the ad because George Soros who funds Moveon and mediamatters would not be happy with them and would pull funding from any Democratic Presidential candidate who had the any mind of their own to come out and say this was wrong. The Republicans were wrong to waste time on the Senate floor condemning moveon.Wasteful.

It showed the American people that George Soros's tit is very large and the Democrats that suck on it are babies.

As far as the tit for tat ,back and forth condemning of Rush Limbaugh. The Democrats had to find something to condemn since they looked so stupid after the moveon ad backfired.

They took two words Rush Limbaugh said totally out of context and made it look like he called every soldier a "phoney soldier".

That was an out right lie that the Democrats needed to play the game of who is going to get condemned on the publics dime.

Rush( and I am no fan) was calling a man who served 44 days a " phoney soldier " because he was running around telling people he was a Iraqi veteran, trying to get veteran benefits and saying he had earned a Purple Heart.
Why didn't the Senate condemn this guy who got booted out of boot camp?

Why not make an example out of the actual phoney soldier?

Both parties are out of control. We can debate all day who is the worst.

What we all do know is this back and forth condemning people and ads in our Congress and Senate has got to stop.

Real work needs to be done.If they don't want to work refund the tax payer their saleries and go home and watch Oprah or something.

We have a little over a year before this country makes it's most important decision,it has had to make in a long time.

If the Congress and Senate, the Republicans and Democrats are going to waste our time and money doing nothing until the election, they should forfeit their salaries and stay home.

There are plenty of things that need to be done in this country right now.If the Congress and Senate don't want to work send them home and take their salaries away.

This is getting ridiculous. On both sides.

Moveon.org is George Soros territory Yikes!!!

All you so-called conservatives screaming "A pox on both their houses!" now that your boys and your philosophy have driven our country into the gutter are pathetic and transparent in your desire to distance yourselves from what you have wrought.

You bought it. You own it. It's your legacy...

skeptical,

Let's take you seriously - for the moment anyway. Is that a new Party designation? Who would be your opponent(s) from the two major Parties? Why do you oppose the Democrat? Why do you oppose the Republican? What is your platform - what do you propose in place of that which you oppose?

If you would be so kind, please answer the questions.

Posted by Old Grouch on October 7, 2007 08:11 AM

Amen

I'd like to see your proof that media Matters is funded by Soros.

We do know that conservative Rupert Murdoch does have a monopoly on the media.

If you listen to the transcripts Limbaugh said "phony soldiers" (plural) well before he even mentioned one person.
