Pass & enforce laws against illegals
Recently Arizona has reported that over 100 illegals a day (estimated) are leaving Arizona due to strict laws penalizing the employers that hire any illegals.
This shows that illegal immigration can be dealt with withing the confines of the law. If fines and prosecution is levied against the employers and companies that hire illegals, there will be a reduction in the number of illegals in that area. Of course a draw back is that the illegals then enter “santuary” cities like those in Colorado, i.e. Golden, Denver et al. Colorado and the rest of the country need to follow suit and increase fines and even hand out jail time to these employers for hiring illegals. Doing so would free up jobs for not only LEGAL immigrants, but also American citizens themselves. Question is, are the American people strong wnough to put these laws into effect and are the elected officials able to take their oaths of office seriously enough to enact such laws? I hope that the answer is YES.

I hope so too,Nick. This is an example of government getting out in front of the problem. The more that state governments follow Arizona, the less likely that vigilante milita groups will start lynching illegals.
Posted by Jimminy on October 19, 2007 02:31 PMSorry about the mis-spelling.That should read "vigilante militia groups".
Posted by Jimminy on October 19, 2007 02:34 PMExcellent points, but the title is misleading.
Well, maybe not. In my opinion the REAL lawbreakers (ie, "illegals") are the employers who hire the immigrants. Of course, like you say, it needs to be widespread to be effective.
I really dig what Oklahoma passed, if we did that or followed suit with what Arizona is doing we would see the results within years!

months not years. Oklahoma was watching the reverse flood even before their laws took effect. The illegals know what too many have forgotten: the American People, caps intended, will do what is necessary to stop an unbearable situation even if the situation is part of government. Prohibition was a failure and the people got the laws changd by electing those who would end it. Today the media call opponents of illegal immigration a list of vile names. the illegals know that it will result in states where such laws are passed being held by politicians who will carry out the voters' wishes. If they don't the result will be a lot of unemployed pols.
Illegals will run to places like New York and Massachussets where politicians have no real fear of the electorate. Out here they do't vote the graveyards or the old line. Watch and see.
Posted by momma y on October 19, 2007 06:17 PMShouldn't they start by birth control? By the time laws are passed and enforced, they deport 100 or more, meantime anchor babies are being born, and the 100 already are on their way back to America within, 3 days, so the borders need to be secured and and Amendment 14 revised ,to explain how it really is meant to be. Then you have
Gov, Spitzer (D-New York)
trying to pass out drivers licences to illegals.
Don't deport them. Blacks in N.E. Denver seem to be "happy" that criminal illegal Mexicans, armed with their forged, perjured, and falsified INS documents, registered, and actually voted. Bull Connor is one happy man.
Salazar (former SAG) and Owens did a slick Texas-style redistricting in N.E. Denver, solely for voting criminal illegal Mexicans, who would nullify black votes. It worked too! Form the first time in decades, no elected blacks are on RTD's board of directors (13 whites and 2 Latinos).
Show me the money! Salazar and his GOP posse wanted blacks to be voiceless in $14 billion in federal funds, that were disbursed (jobs and contracts) in the T-REX, Fas Tracks, CBMS, and Fitzsimons (LDS cash-cow) redevelopment projects.
Hiding under their desks, singing stanzas from "We Shall Overcome", were the NAACP, Congressional Black Caucus, Groff, Miliner, Poole, Jones, Marshall, Greater Denver Ministerial Alliance, and T. Carroll.

A large part of the solution lay in holding the employers of illegals responsible. The first time the news broadcasts pictures of a corporation’s CEO being marched to jail after his/her company hired illegals this nonsense will come to a screeching halt.
The matter of revising the 14th Amendment deserves at least a look. The steps that Ireland took a few years ago (requiring that at least one parent be a citizen or eligible for citizenship before extending any kind of birthright citizenship, etc.) would be a good place to start.
It is so easy.. Follow and enforce the law. Yet some wish to convolute the law to make it seem that these laws are cumbersome or outdated and need "reformation". Just follow the law and enforce it, it's intended purposes will come through. It is being proven now, state by state.
Posted by Ben's Border Street on October 20, 2007 07:41 AMPlease note that Arizona's new laws go after illegal EMPLOYERS.
From "U.S. Commerce Fights Arizona Illegal Immigrant Law" at
http://www.corruptionchronicles.com/2007/08/us_commerce_fights_arizona_ill.html
"Approved by Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano last month, the law makes it a crime to hire illegal immigrants statewide and businesses caught doing so will face stiff fines and license revocation when the legislation takes effect in January." (So for those of you who think this issue doesn't cross party boundaries, think again.)
Now the law’s constitutionality is being challenged by the powerful and highly influential U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses. The chamber’s vice president of litigation says the law needs to be overturned because “state and local attempts to regulate the employment of undocumented workers are unconstitutional and preempted by federal law.”
The law goes into effect in January, 2008 - and in August, 2007, Arizona was already seeing an exodus of about 100 illegals a day. Another article pointed out that in some school districts, attendance is down so much that schools may be closed.
I know it is too late for an initiative on this year's ballot in Colorado, but I am willing to bet that if we were to get a similar initiative on the ballot for 2008, it would pass overwhelmingly in Colorado. Of course, we better all keep our finger crossed for Arizona's law to be found constitutional - or - let the candidates know we will no longer support them if they don't stop supporting business & illegal immigrants over the US voters.
Posted by Mary on October 20, 2007 08:21 AMWe all have to follow Arizona's policies on illegal immigration.
Are politicians blind? Can't they see that this is really working for AZ?
Posted by c on October 20, 2007 09:36 AMIf we don't all follow AZ's example, illegals will just flow into the next state with sanctuary cities.
Posted by c on October 20, 2007 09:38 AMWhat? You citizens don't like T.B.?
Posted by on October 20, 2007 09:58 AMNot to mention AIDS. Now Denver has a place where all the Mexicans infected with AIDS can go get treatment (a featured article in a recent RMN).
How closely are the ILLEGALS working in our restaurants monitored for these diseases? Are they monitored at all?
Posted by c on October 20, 2007 10:45 AMHate to disillusion you. But Ken Salazar does NOT have a GOP posse. Why? Because he's a Democrat. Unless, of course, I missed the memo where he changed parties?
I'm glad people are recognizing that the incidence of serious comunicable diseases has risen in direct proprotion to the influx of illegal aliens.
Also, the correct legal term to describe a non US citizen who is here in violation of law is : Illegal Alien.
Illegal Immigrant is an oxymoronic phrase, for an immigrant is one who came here LEGALLY.
As Josef Goebbels said during his reign as the propganda minister of the Third Reich: "Repeat the lie enough times and it becomes the truth". Guess those in favor of open borders learned their lessons well from Herr Goebbels.
If the Federal Government won't enforce the laws that are on the books, it's left to the States to do so. Attrition through enforcement has been shown to be effective.
With the Colorado State Patrol now able to enforce immigration laws, perhaps we will see a marked change in the numbers of illegal aliens coming to and living in Colorado.
Posted by John Sampson on October 20, 2007 01:54 PMWah-wah-wah,get used to your mexican nightmare.....You are all too late, silly rabbits !!!! No one rules for ever, make way for the latino tidal wave comming your way...Your daughters can't resist the latin lover angle ..........
Posted by her first on October 21, 2007 03:39 AMAlright, "her first". (your spelling, not mine), with a brain like yours, just how far do you think you're going to get in this country? There are only so many lawn mower pushers or kitchen staff that we need. It's time to put our kids back to work in those jobs. BTW, it is not too late. See what Arizona and Oklahoma are doing to get rid of the likes of you. You are also overrating yourself from the "latin lover" angle. The ability to pump out lots of babies does not necessarily make one a great lover. Get out of my country!

My daughter describes you as "OILY". Don't have to worry about her.
I think that is the popular opinion of all you SELF-DESCRIBED latin lovers.

Many years ago, in order to work around food you had to go to the health dept. to get an X-ray, and take it to the place where you were to work and turn it in to the employer. To show you're free from T-B. Now days ...I don't know if the employer even cares. They hire them right from the border to the restraunt or
Swift,Tyson,Wendy's, McDonalds, etc.
Never in our lives had we heard of so much
E-coli or superbugs, staph infections, like now. And you know Calderon/Fox don't immunize their people.
