Rocky leaning ever more to the left
Thursday, October 18 at 12:01 AM

The shift from relatively fair and balanced reporting to left-of-center
propaganda is becoming more apparent as the Rocky Mountain News comes closer and closer to mimicking The Denver Post.
The Rocky's Oct. 7 editorial, "The persistence of an outlawed policy" (about the
questioning of enemy prisoners), could have come right off the pages of The New
York Times.
Oh, I'm sorry - it did come right off the pages of the Times as the Times was
quoted no less than six times as the source for this hit piece on the Bush
administration's efforts to protect this country from Islamic terrorists.
Boo-hoo, so we sometimes use "harsh" interrogation methods on these radicals to
try to save this country from another 9/11.
The problem with the left and their media enablers in this country is they
equate waterboarding to torture but say nothing about beheadings, burning our troops alive and dragging them through
the streets, blowing women and children up and on and on and on.
Listen up, leftists: Rules are made for a civilized society. We are dealing with
people whose only agenda is to wipe us off the face of this Earth and you want
us to play by the rules. They have no rules, except cut off the head of the
infidels, of which you are one.

Don Fredricey, Wheat Ridge

READER COMMENTS

So in order to fight what you call an uncivilized society, we must abandon the rules of a civilized one? If the "terrorists" that the US is torturing are so clearly bad, then why not let them stand trial? And torture is outlawed in international law, law that the United States has agreed to. One that does not obey the law is an outlaw correct? Why does something factual always have to be liberal or conservative bias? Because it doesn't fit your vision of the world? Nice...

PHONY, PHONY AIRMAN. I tried to put Don out of his misery. I filed lawful UCMJ felony charges (AWOL, deserter, and guilty of illegal separation and discharge) against Bush, with Tancredo and Allard (draft-dodgers). They opted to violate a host of federal laws instead (political cover-up). They were required to give my charges to the US Congress, defense secy., and US Court of Military Appeals. Instead, these two warriors opted to place my charges in their "circular files". I think truth policemen like Lim(P)baugh, Caplis, Newman, O'Riles, Andrews, and Rosen, should muster up some "backbone", and investigate/report. When pigs fly!

The quickest way to rid ourselves of Bush is to court martial him. He was never lawfully discharged from the Texas Air National Guard. BUDDY PROGRAM: Let's do Judge Affirmative Action (AA) Alito too. Alito is a "PHONY SOLDIER". He pimped and exploited taxpayers for 7 years of free college education (JD/undergrad degrees) in the US Army's ROTC program. Alito incurred an 11 year active military duty obligation as a result of these gifts. Like Bush, Alito blew off his military service obligation too. Therefore, for being AWOL, deserter, and guilty of illegal separation and discharge, Alito owes black folks 3 years in federal prison.

While Alito was fleecing Americans, 55% of the "soldier-draftees" killed in Vietnam (in-country) were black, while we only comprised 12% of the nation's population. Alito and Bush should deployed to SuperMax or Ft. Leavenworth, KS, for their prison wedding. The brothers will greet them with open arms.

Good letter. Thanks.

Posted by Ben on October 18, 2007 08:49 AM

It is helpful to remember that, as this letter so clearly illustrates, to the wingnuts any news/information organization that does not overtly function as a PR/propaganda organ of the bushevik regime is "liberal-biased" or "left-leaning"
It's also mildly humorous that adherents of the political perspective that continuously accuse their opposition of "emotional" decision making spend an inordinate amount of time appealing to one emotion-fear as a sole basis for consideration in foreign policy by endlessly echoing lurid tales of decapitation . Sorry guys I don't frighten as easily as you all apparently do, besides I thought big daddy bush and his eternal war to resubjugate brown people was making us safer all the time..

Don Fredrichy, it's people like you who have no idea of what the US is about nor do you show any respect for the freedoms we have.
You do however sound like just another chickenhawk ( hawkish on war, too chicken to enlist).
Rules are made for a civilized society..I thought that is what the United States was? At least we were until the conservatives elected an uncivilized president.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA:

Portuguese neurologist Egas Moniz received the 1949 Nobel Prize in medicine for "his discovery of the therapeutic value of [prefrontal lobotomy] in certain psychoses," including depression and schizophrenia. The prefrontal lobotomy operation, in which the nerve fibers connecting the frontal lobe with other parts of the brain were cut, and which often made patients zombie-like, would be repudiated by the medical community within a decade.

Al Gore, the latest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, is a similarly poor choice, one likely not to stand the test of time.

"the bushevik regime"

So are you accusing the Bush administration of being socialist, or the Bolsheviks of being right wing? Only the former makes even a little sense, and not much at that.

Posted by drew on October 18, 2007 09:11 AM

So Don doesnt like liberals and believes that the torture of innocents is A-OK. Frankly Im more afraid of the sociopaths here at home then I am of the ones in the middle east.

I think your statement is true for both sides. It is helpful to remember that to the moonbats, any news/information organization that does not overtly conform to the liberal propaganda machine or toe the Dem party line, is labled as biased and untrustworthy. Thus the reason so many libs get their panties in a twist over FOX News.

So the Rocky is now leftist based on this one editorial?

Posted by Dan on October 18, 2007 09:46 AM

Ben and Don have had way too much Kool-Aid. (there really were WMD's just ask Fox News)

Posted by just sayin' on October 18, 2007 09:59 AM

hey Hank the Nobel Prize and the Nobel Peach Prize are very different. One is from Sweden, (science etc) and the other from Norway. (peace) They have very different criteria. YOu should educate yourself before you get on here and shout your ignorance.

Posted by It's True on October 18, 2007 10:33 AM

I absolutely love it when the far right starts whining about the "leftist media" when a story exposing the unethical, illegal and/or incompetent machinations of the Republican party hits the streets.

Here's a thought. If you don't want to hear about your politicians misdeeds...elect better ones.

Posted by jay on October 18, 2007 10:44 AM

Communism is the most extreme example of right-wing politics.

Socialism is the most extreme example of left-wing politics.

Drew, please educate yourself.

Posted by Educator on October 18, 2007 10:48 AM

Sorry boys and girls but the Rocky is not far enough left for me. The New York Times remains the best paper in the US bar none.

It's True said... "hey Hank the Nobel Prize and the Nobel Peach Prize are very different. One is from Sweden, (science etc) and the other from Norway. (peace) They have very different criteria. YOu should educate yourself before you get on here and shout your ignorance."

The Nobel Peach Prize? And you're bashing someone else's intelligence? You are too funny.

Posted by RWE on October 18, 2007 11:08 AM

Oh gosh I made a typo. thanks RWE for being such a genius and pointing that out. I guess maybe the Nobel Prize and the Nobel (got to be careful here) PeacE Prize are pretty much the same thing now due to my typo.

Remember Reverend Sun Myung Moon, and the Moonies? Remember the mass weddings?

Well, the Rev is the owner of the Washington Times, the right-wingnuttiest rag of them all. He's a big Bush supporter. Reverend Moon refers to himself as: "humanity's Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent."

He's a perfect example of the lunatic fringe that has taken over the Republcan party and the right-wing media. The RMN has always been a corporate "spigot for bigots" - they're just as bad as they ever were - but they are whores, so since most people see through the 'Cons, they've been letting a glimmer of reality, which has a Liberal bias, slip in between the advertisments.

After all, in the Free Marketplace of ideas, the phony "conservatives" are losing ground, thank goodness....

It is common knowledge that facts have a liberal bias

Posted by on October 18, 2007 01:23 PM

When you look at the gutless morons that compose the Bushbot nation, any sane person would lean left. Rightwing peckerheads are the dregs of America.

Posted by on October 18, 2007 02:04 PM

Don F.
What else is a paper that the majority of the staff on the RMN liberals going to print?
Half truths and news blackouts to keep the public in the dark about their un-American agenda.
These leftist make it sound like we are using the same sort brutality on these terrorists which they use on our troops and all civilians. They deserve worse treatment than these bleeding hearts are feigning concern about.

It's the same with the concern they have for the crimminals in this country and to hell with the victims. Besides they are not covered are not covered under the Geneva Convention. You have to be a soldier from a sovereign nation to fall under the Genva Convention treatment of POW.

Their transparent fake concern for these terrorists and disregard for the safety of the citizens of our country is sickening and treacherous.
We should hand over these anti-American evil cowards to Alkida for giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

Maybe that would change that tired old tune they play over and over. It shows what an upside down and twisted world these liberals minds inhabit.

Posted by on October 18, 2007 02:21 PM

um your real stoopid I think u not real smret, mayby you shud lurn to reed bfor you try talk poltiks

Posted by on October 18, 2007 03:17 PM

2:21-
Who is Alkida? Is that a country?

Yes- turn all liberals over to "Alkida", and keep the well-educated, Bush posterior kissers like yourself here.

We'll be a third world country in no time.

Posted by BO on October 18, 2007 03:20 PM

09:45 AM, I think you hit the nail on the head.

Posted by Arnie on October 18, 2007 04:02 PM

Bo

You probably look like are Bush's posterior, so don't flatter yourself. Your kissing cousins are the communists and In your case a licker.

If you have it your way we'll be the second coming of the USSR.
Does Bo stand for Boner? Both types!

Posted by on October 18, 2007 04:35 PM

"...Their transparent fake concern for these terrorists and disregard for the safety of the citizens of our country..."

Sounds to me more like concern for THE UNITED STATES becoming just another dictatorship like Saddam used to run.

"...If you have it your way we'll be the second coming of the USSR."

So why are you complaining? It sounds like you WANT to be the next USSR - they were experts on gulags, illegal imprisonment, and torture and spying on citizens.

Posted by Mac on October 18, 2007 05:38 PM

Hey 4:35- At least I have the guts to use some kind of name, unlike you, you gutless wonder (I guess that's what happens when your testicles are removed).

I guess you are also an America hater, since you probably citicized our President (Clinton) while we had troops depolyed in a war zone (Bosnia, Kosovo).

Posted by BO on October 19, 2007 09:04 AM

Mac

Why do you leftwingers always quote per verbatim the sentences that you know hit the nail on the head and makes your irrelevant statements a moot point?

Your knee jerk response and irrational and exaggerrated claims and comparisions are your typical "Chicken Little" cries.
You leftwingers pinkos are the masters of false propaganda and try to re-write history every chance you get.
Your mind is so distorted that you call telling the truth, complaining. So knee jerk, who is imprisoning, torturing and spying on you Mr. lying Chicken Little?
You and your radical left wing liars will not be happy until we have another terrorist attack on American soil so you can cheer and use it as a political club you sick commie.

Poor Mac. You guys make it so easy as long as we have the truth to expose you to "Real" Americans.

Posted by on October 19, 2007 09:21 AM

Bo
Oh "Brave" one there you go "Half -Cocked" at the mouth again. Looks like that last one really got to you.
Pardon my smile.
We on the Right were on board with your pal Slick Willie on that one. We needed to try and stop the ethnic cleansing. I don't recall the right whinning, frothing at the mouth and wetting our pants like you liberals are doing now. The left has always live by double standards and are very sore and poor losers.

Bo-ner , That's un-American!

Posted by on October 19, 2007 09:40 AM

Anonymous Poster at 09:21 - Sorry you didn't understand my post. I actually agree that I wasn't clear.

Anyway, to answer your question, no one is imprisoning or toturing me. I can't say for sure no one is spying on me - it wouldn't be very good spying if I knew about it, would it?

But that's not the point. I'm blond and blue-eyed, so if I had lived in the Third Reich I doubt I would have ended up in a concentration camp. Still doesn't make the camps right, does it? Or do you disagree?

Posted by Mac on October 19, 2007 09:41 AM

What did I lie about, anonymous?

Posted by Mac on October 19, 2007 09:49 AM

Gutless 9:40
I am not a liberal. As matter of fact, I voted more GOP than Dem. in 2006. I live in a red state (and I mean Husker red). There are way more people here like me than there are like you. (I guess you now think Nebraska is liberal, right?). I was for the War in Iraq. Bush has screwed it up. I refuse to join your ilk because you can't think very deep. People like you have to put the world in your own terms to be able to function.

Me- More right leaning; don't like Bush.
You- In bed with Bush. Criticism of Bush=Unamericanism (a short cut from actually having to think). Have to turn to insults, because you have no more points to make.

Posted by BO on October 19, 2007 12:07 PM

Bo

See there you go of "Half Cocked" again.
I never said I was a Bush or Cheney supporter. Your such an idiot with your false assumtions.Go back and re-read my original post. You're the one who stuck your nose in made noises like a bleeding heart liberal on my comments on the left bent of the RMN and about the poor mistreated terrorists.
I don't think you know if you're coming or going. If it walks like a liberal and sounds like a liberal. Personally I think you are a lying left winger and truly are a Bo-ner.
It's been fun but I'm bored with you and you make it too easy for me.
Your a glutton for punishment

Posted by on October 19, 2007 02:06 PM

All I know is that you made a mention of deporting those of a liberal persuasion to Alkida. That kind of thinking (getting rid of those that disagree) is more in tune with the terrorists than what any liberal might say. Since Georgie is president, we can't have any dissention now can we? Sounds like some third world dictatorship, not the USA. How un-American.

Posted by BO on October 19, 2007 02:30 PM

The Rocky is a liberal paper when the conversation is framed historically. Is it the Boston Globe? No. When compared to the past, the Rocky bears little resemblance to the “Voice of the Rockies” of my childhood. Going back to my middle age, I dug out “the Drive” edition from 1987, believe me the only resemblance is the format. That was a conservative newspaper, loaded with content and we’re talking a Monday edition! Thankfully neither paper (News or Post) is a liberal rag, but the differences between them aren’t nearly as sharp as they were 10 years ago.
