Ski area wasteful
Thursday, October 18 at 12:01 AM

I wonder if the owners of A-Basin happened to read the little Rocky Mountain
News editorial of Sept. 30, "Water sense at last," before they wasted countless
hundreds of thousands of water on snowmaking just so they could make the
ridiculous claim of being the first ski resort to open ("Ski area in pole
position," Oct. 10).
So they're the first - so what? Is it worth wasting all that water?

al take you head out of your enviornmental algore butt and look at the taxes they will bring in, the jobs, and the water will stay here until spring as it will be recycled.
so in short they did not waste any water but seems you sure waste a lot of space and air

Yes, it was worth the water and not a waste at all.

Don't fret, there are people out there having more fun than you.

I remember coming home from jr high (9th grade) and getting my newsweek in the mail (yes i was a little nerd in some ways) 25 years ago to find a breakdancer on the cover. 2 weeks letter I read in the letters from someone crying about how horrible it is that kids were being encouraged to spin on their head with the world in the state it is. Thank you Al, I feel like I am 14 again.

PS: I hope everyone at Arrapaho Basin skied all day, partied all night, and ****** til they were blue. Life is to be lived...sometime decadently :)

Im confused.... Apparently, the OP was lamenting the fact that AB destroyed a bunch of water by..... converting it into hexagonal ice crystals..... Does this new form of "Water" explode on contact? Does it become toxic? I must be missing something here.

Apparently, nature destroys water all the time and here we are not ushering in global warming as fast as we can to save the water! I shoveled a ton of this new "destroyed" water last winter. Holy Cow. If I knew it was toxic, I would have left it. Maybe I can use that excuse this year.

I'm not sure the OP understands wasting water.... The water didn't float into space.

Pssssst.... the water is still there. The only thing you should get your panties in a wad about is... they did waste some electricity running the machine.
