Sticky notes block headlines
Wednesday, October 3 at 10:58 AM

Diane Ware of Centennial writes:

Why even bother with headlines on the front page? The sticky note ads either cover up part of the main headline or they cover the section headlines.
Either way, what is the point of a headline if the publisher obviously feels advertising is more important? I know that advertising supports the news but it’s beginning to seem like the Rocky thinks news is secondary.

News is beginning to become secondary?

Heck that happened when Denver's two papers decided to "cooperate". That's not news, thats 100% control of the message. The almighty $ wins every time. 90% of the time, the "news" items are identical, as are the ads, the letters, etc for both papers.

Looks like you've got internet access since this letter was posted. Read it there, read it on other websites. Look at all the trees you'll help save. All th while reducing your carbon foot print.

Ok now for the real response...

IT'S A STICKY NOTE... GET OVER IT!!!

Diane, today at least we didn't get any sticky labels. Is it possible the RMN is listening to citizens like you?

Why bother with paper at all in this electronic age?

Might as well ask for your news to be delivered etched into clay tablets.

The damnable sticky notes are not limited to physical paper. When I attempted to view one of the local rags online today (not sure if it was this one or t'other one) I was confronted with an abominable ad covering the entire screen. I had to reload the page to make it go away. Guess what that ad tried to resemble? A sticky note. I hate marketing.

This will help you get rid of most of your ads:

I'm amazed at all the letters about sticky notes. They're designed to be irritating. A sticky note on a physical newspaper is like a pop-up ad on an Internet browser's page: The advertiser is hoping that you look at the ad before peeling it off or getting rid of it. Since it is a sticky not, just discard it and ignore the advertiser. If the advertiser sees that their increased advertising expense led to no increased revenues, they'll quit and find some other annoyance.

get over the sticky note problem by taking them off. its not a big deal and if it is to you the you have way to much time on your hands.

Let's see, we are in a war in Iraq, there's a madman trying to develop nucleur weapons and wants to wipe Israel off the map, there is genocide going on in Darfur,we are trying not to have another terrorist attack, our Congress is in shambles, our Senate is in shambles,Our White House is crazy,we have smear websites puppeteering the candidates running for president,we have a huge illegal alien problem, our schools are falling apart, our schools are not teaching except illegal aliens ,thats all they are concerned with,we have a high crime rate, nobody wants to admit to,our state government is going to raise our taxes for whatever,( I think it's just mandatory if your a Democrat ),we have a huge healthcare/welfare problem in this country, the list can go on and on.

All these problems and our country is at a crossroad or almost in chaos, depending on how you look at it and everyday,in the newspaper someone is complaining about.

STICKY NOTES!!!!!!!

I've cancelled the RMN over this deliberate intrusive sticky issue. I also made note of who these advertisers were - and placed them on my permanant do not patrionize list.

To AMEN, you are so correct and so hypocritical on this sticky issue.
