War in Iraq
Tuesday, October 9 at 2:00 PM

Lou Gamboa of Twin Lakes writes:

“Listen to the experts” said the TV media, as they paraded one deceptive so-called expert after another, in an effort to convince the American public to go to war in Iraq.
Let’s review some of these experts remarks not only on the present Iraq war but the previous Iraq war : “The incubator story became the war cry of the Bush administration. There was only one problem with the story: It wasn’t true.” The “young girl” actually was the daughter of the Kuwait ambassador, and the Kuwait family’s American PR firm, Hill & Knowlton, had coached her.
George Bush Senior used the invasion of Kuwait as one premise to go to war.
In response to a journalist’s question that the U.S. had invited Iraq to take Kuwait, the Ambassador to Kuwait April Glaspie was quoted as saying , “Obviously, I didn’t think, and nobody else did, that the Iraqis were going to take all of Kuwait.” Little if anything was mentioned to the public that would suggest that the U.S. may have been prepared to let Iraq take over the Rumailah oil fields. In fact, Administration officials told The Washington Post six days before the invasion that “an Iraqi attack on Kuwait would not draw a U.S. military response.”
Over and over we heard the so-called experts Rumsfeld, Rice, Bush, Cheney, Colin Powell and others say, “They found the smoking gun; Iraq has W.M.D.’s". They must have a memory like Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, they just can’t recall where Iraq put them.
Bush has some W.M.D. he has used on the American people like the destruction of our currency by inflation and massive debt for our children and grandchildren. He has W.M.D.ed our Bill of Rights.
Ray McGovern who worked as a former C.I.A Analyst under the Reagan administration as well as other administrations stated that “The people in the 1980’s Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, etc who now control our policies for Iraq and Iran were known as the crazies in briefing sessions.”
John F. Kennedy was right when, in 1963 just days before his assassination, he said, “The high office of President has been used to foment a plot to destroy the Americans’ freedom, and before I leave office I must inform the citizen of his plight. “ (I know he said this because I caught part of his speech on T.V. at that time.) Let’s hope the American people will wake up!

If John F. Kennedy said that, I'll take your word for it.He was right in what he said.

Thank Lee Harvey Oswald for putting an end to his prediction.

Dear Jesus, save us from your followers. Powell, Blair, Bush, Rummy, Rice, Lott, Cheney, and Hastert, should all be tried in an international court of law for war crimes. They have the same trackrecord as Hitler and his SS gang, except a lesser exterminated numbers of Iraqis.

A mere invasion of Kuwait probably wouldn't have resulted in a U.S. response, just like Iraq's invasion of Iran a decade earlier had no U.S. response. But when Saddam Hussein attacked the American Embassy in Kuwait during that invasion, he committed an act of war against us, and we had every right to strike back.
If Bush Sr. wanted to use the invasion of Kuwait as a pretext for war with Iraq, he would not have called for just a cease fire when Iraq was driven from Kuwait and allowed Saddam Hussein to escape unharmed back to Baghdad. Unfortunately, Bush was following the U.N. mandate to "liberate Kuwait" and nothing more, and so he allowed Hussein to get away.
If Hussein had been captured or killed back then, we wouldn't be in this mess now.

"More and more troops and veterans of Iraq believe George Bush's military policy has been a disaster. I am one of them. Rush Limbaugh called vets like me "phony soldiers" for telling the truth about Iraq. Rush, the shrapnel I took to my head was real. My traumatic brain injury was real. And, my belief that we are on the wrong course in Iraq is real. Until you have the guts to call me a "phony solider" to my face, stop telling lies about my service," says veteran Brian McGough of Washington, D.C.

McGough, in this case, if you repeat a lie often enough, it does not become truth. I listened to the show that day and it was eminently clear what Rush was talking about. Taking a few words out of context and going hysterical about them is not the way to win your argument.

For every soldier who whines when they get back that oh woe is me, I can counter with one that actually supports the mission. This includes 2 cousins who were there and are back. Their accounts differ from yours...

Whom to believe... hmmm, not even a tough question.

Dravur, so you are calling McGough a liar? Gee your respect and support for the troops rivals that of Limbaugh. You pretend to support them, but its only the troops that share your ideas and screw the rest eh? I am sure each soldier has a different view of the War and not all agree with you. I support all the troops and their right to speak up, even your cousins. I listened to rush too and still havent figured out why one man was referred to as THEY and one soldier was referred to as SOLDIERS. Rush has gone on to attack McGough too, saying he is like a suicide bomber for speaking his mind. Check out VoteVets.org and see what other vets think of Bush, the war and Rush.
