While GIs died, Iraqi officials vacationed
It was a typical August in Iraq with our brave fighting men and women risking their lives with the daily attacks of insurgents, IEDs and temperatures soaring well over 100 degrees.
Eighty-one of them gave their lives to afford the Iraqi government time to arrive at the political agreement that is the only answer to the conflict.
Hundreds more of our soldiers suffered injuries, many so grievous as to make one turn away.
All of them suffered without their families and their families without them. Many families will never recover from the effects of war and separation.
And where was the Iraqi government? On vacation! I repeat: on vacation!
Our brave fighting men and women are sacrificing their all and the Iraqi government is on vacation.
I am enraged that they could have such contempt for the efforts and lives of our brave fighting men and women. It is equally appalling that our president could continue to support with the lives of our soldiers the lack of effort on the part of the Iraqi government.
The Iraqi government will never reach a political settlement while our brave fighting men and women stand between them and their responsibilities and while we continue to throw billions of dollars down the bottomless pit that is the Iraqi government.
It’s time to bring our fighting men and women home.

and all of congress was out on their fall month long break so they could be on the hunt for the presidents job. they be rated the military as not doing a good job and we need to leave and get home. remember harry reid saying we have lost the war? dont for get jesse macbeth and his hero worship by the left and anti war groups for his 44 days of service where he became a range and went to iraq and won a purple heart, and all in his 44 days before being kicked out of boot camp.
and with this knowledge the media and the anti war crowd and the liberals in DC praised him and are trying to destroy others because they pointed out he is a liar.
Sig, the political settlement you are talking about also includes the Iraqis turnng over control of the majority of their oil to western oil companies. The Iraqis are reluctant to do that. The Iraqis think they can produce the oil themselves and keep the revenues for themselves, and they are right. Big Oil would lose hundreds of billions of Euros if the Iraqis do it themselves. The US military is helping Big Oil steal the Iraqis oil.
Most of our soldiers are being cheated. They are subjugating a country to make Big Oil rich. They are acting as thieves. When will you see this reality. When will you stop tricking our soldiers to think they are doing something noble? If you cared about our soldiers, you would enraged that they are being brought home NOW!
Hundreds of the soliders have refused to act as thieves and killers. They are the real heroes.

Posted by Dave on October 8, 2007 07:11 AMThe Iraqi Government wants to model itself after the U.S. Government.
So what's the difference. Our government officials are constantly on vacation. The pop in every now and then to push a bill filled with their earmarks and something that may be worthwhile. Then they are off again.
I love when they show our elected officials on the floor blabbering about something and no one is in the background.

The RMN editorial board is slipping.
Letter writer Sig Jaastad does not care about our troops he is just a Democrat trying to weaken the will of the American people. The troops know what they are dealing with but volunteer to fight.Sig's letter is aimed at the coward Democrats that will read it and he hopes they will call their congressmen and say end the war.We are wise to the tricks of the terrorist supporting Democrats.

Deicide Corner: “Wandering in a vast forest at night, I have only a faint light to guide me. A stranger appears and says to me: 'My friend, you should blow out your candle in order to find your way more clearly.' This stranger is a theologian.” -- Denis Diderot,
The amount of time the Iraqi government spent on vacation is peanuts compared to the amount of vacation time our glorious leader George "Mission Accomplished" Bush has logged at his ranch in texass while American soldiers die in Iraq.
Bush is AWOL from the air national guard and Cheney is a draft dodging coward. Political hacks both and all Americans will be far better off when they are history.
George doesn't just vacation while our soldiers die - George was vacationing while all those people were drowning in New Orleans as well (but he did fly over & wave on his way to the ranch). Georgie is an equal opportunity vacationer.
