Disappointed in the Rocky
Thursday, November 8 at 2:09 PM

Lance Christensen of Golden writes:

I am very disappointed in the editorial position the Rocky has chosen.
Clearly, no state employees were consulted. Only those who have no stake in the improvement of government and making State Government more accountable were asked to provide this opinion. No effort was made to gain the full story, but only to gain the most sensational headline.
State workers want to hold their politically-appointed directors accountable. State workers want to have the same voice that workers in profitable and successful businesses have- the voice that lets management know what is working and what is not. This is not about wages. It is about making our government work properly.
I am a taxpayer too, and I am fully committed to making sure no more multi-million dollar computer mistakes are foisted on our State without review. And I would hope that a partnership that gives workers a voice and holds political appointees accountable would be supported by the paper, not politicized for the sole purpose of selling headlines. The efficient operation of our government should be the goal of all Coloradoans, not a political bone to be used by a few ineffectual politicians with an agenda towards privatization, not change.

Unions are productivity killers that worship at the alter of seniority, work rules, benefits, vacations and time off. Never have so many done so little to extract so much. Their hostile monopoly agenda comes at the expense of the consumer and taxpayer who underwrites and supports the difference via the resulting higher costs, higher prices, lower quality, more inflation, higher interest rates and higher taxes.

Ritter calls this a "partnership. " I call it robbery.

Bottom line: U.A.W. == U Ain't Workin." Is that what we want for Colorado too?

Ritter does see this as a partnership. He gets the workers to unionize whether they want to or not. All those dues go to the unions, making the bosses fat and happy. The Union then pays off Ritter. Kind of an evil little circle.

Forced theft from workers to prop up the dems. biz as usual. I would not be surprised if there were some Chicoms involved.

Dont believe this was for the workers.. This was a dem scheme for funding, simple as that.

I know plenty of state employees who do it.

I struck a nerve somewhere. Must have reminded someone of their own habits. Well no more postings today. I actually work--even on friday.

Oh yes, Increase efficiency by unionizing the state employees. Are you serious?

Who did Ritter talk to before he issued his executive order? The employees? Oh I forgot, he has visions!

I do wish he would of allowed the workers to strike. Its the only way we would find out if a state job was necessary or not. Go on strike for better pay and benefits and see if your job is worth it to settle the strike and call you back to work.
