Global climate change & red meat
Mr. Holden also makes reference to red meat and the idea that if “science demands that Americans reduce their hefty consumption of red meat a little, so be it” Well, Mr Holden, it is NOT just “so be it". If I want to eat red meat for every meal of every day of MY life and can afford to buy it, that should be MY choice! I don’t need some nannyist government agency, or special interest group telling me what I can and cannot eat. I think the various bans on transfat have already gone too far.
What about foreign countries? Is red meat to be rationed there, too? Don’t force your agenda on the rest of us.
Now, if Mr. Holden’s concern over red meat is the supposed greenhouse gas emissions of cows, this is the height of hypocrisy. What about all the human greenhouse gas emissions? While cows are bigger, there are a lot more people.
If climate change, despite lack of any real evidence, is actually man-made then it seems to me the real solution is to reduce the earth’s human population, not force inconvenience, restrictions, and expense on the people of the one nation in the world which is supposed to stand for liberty and freedom of choice. But I haven’t heard any of the global warming alarmists suggesting a plan to control population growth, or volunteering to not have kids themselves. Don’t expect to either.
This letter has not been edited.
"What about all the human greenhouse gas emissions?"
Cannibalism = reduced population + more meat for everyone left.

Eat as much red meat as you can, save the fish we are running out. Cows are abundant fish are getting scarce..

"The supposed ‘science’ they cite is, from what I’ve seen, mostly based on computer models. "
As apposed to your science, which is pulled from your ass...

Thanks for the laugh, you made my day, very funny!!!!!
Posted by Karl Cheney on November 13, 2007 07:26 PM” While I’m sure that models are a useful tool they can be made to show anything the designer wishes and are only as good as the data input into them to create a guess at the future”
That isn’t how models are used though, and nor would such a use be valid.
The model predicts both backwards and forwards. It’s backward “postdictions” are checked against what we know of the past, and the forward predictions are checked against what we see from independent variables out in nature.
With complex systems like climate, modeling isn’t just a “useful tool”, it is a vital tool. You cannot really do the science without models, and the only other choice is just not to do the science at all.

Fair enough.
I trust that you will provide a waiver and a DNR order so that no government funds are spent on treatment or accommodation of the resulting health problems that may manifest.
I also trust that you will pay your own way and not ask insurance companies to spread your risk amongst other customers.
Finally, you will pay back the investment that the government and the taxpayers made in your education, your protection, and all the social benefits that you have benefited from but will not adequately refund through taxes because you will die early due your meat habit.
Alan Thomas seems to think that all the people who are worried about global warming are in the "the liberal environmentalist crowd". Would someone please bring him up to date? Perhaps send him some newspapers and magazines?
Alan is worried about population growth. He criticizes the global warming people for not suggesting a way to curb that. Then he ends his letter without suggesting a way to curb that. Interesting.

Posted by Hank on November 14, 2007 08:12 AMHank you still have to wonder why you and the other folks on the far far right wing have politicians rather than any credible, peer-reviewed, field-appropriate scientists on your side of this issue.
