Goofball resolution
In defending the timing of Congress’ goofball resolution condemning the Ottoman Empire’s savagery against Armenians a century ago, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi repeatedly pointed out, “There’s never a good time.” If there’s never a good time for something, logic would suggest that it’s not a good idea.

Democratic leadership is a ship of fools. Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 05:35 AMhey she had to show how strong they are on important issues of the day. everything else they have tried has failed big time. look at how they patted themselves on the back for getting the huge raise in the minimum wage this year. they said it had to be done becasue no one could live on it but now with the huge increase they received they will be buying lofts in lodo come spring.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 06:29 AMPelosi has nothing better to do,Congress has nothing important to the American people to work on in Congress.
Our country is in such great shape that Congress to pass the time came up with a resolution claiming there was a genocide committed by Turkey on the Armenians. This apparently took place in 1915.So out of the goodness of their hearts and our tax dollars they decided to stir the pot and undermine our ally Turkey. Who just happens to be where our soldiers get fuel and supplies through.
Everyday our government,For the People, By the People , never ceases to amaze me.
Posted by Can I get an AMEN! on November 1, 2007 07:37 AMThis resolution was nothing more than a attempt by the Democrats to sever relations between Turkey and the Bush Admin. Turkey is a US ally on Middle East relations and the war on terror.
Just more proof as to where the Democrats stand on Middle East issues and further highlights their contempt for fighting terrorists.
What's next a resolution condemning landing on the moon, because it displaced alien life forms?
Posted by on November 1, 2007 09:47 AMhow will Pelosi resolve this issue? maybe she can pay them off just like she did for all of the indians and blacks in this country.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 10:01 AMPelosi, like all liberals, is a fart sniffer.

Posted by on November 1, 2007 12:33 PMNot one politician cares about the working men's and women's problems because they have never had to get their hands dirty. The majority of them are lawyers who could not make it in the free market place and, rather than getting an honest job, they ran for election in defense to join fellow liars and graduated to become politicians.
When was the last time you heard any of them rightly refer to the blue collar working people as the backbone of this country. They are so far out of touch with reality, they think we can come up with any amount of money they need while ignoring the basic fundamental fiscal law; if you don't have it to spend you must wait until you do have it. But, not them, they can't wait to have the FED print more so they can spend it much like the women who thought she had money in the bank because she still had checks in her checking book.

Posted by Allen Campbell on November 1, 2007 12:45 PMThey need to look like they are doing something in Washington don't they?
Neither party is interested in getting actual work for the people done - just participating in partisan games and worrying about the next election.
Mr. Campbell, it took me a while but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the beginning of the month.
As for Texas Hold 'em's comment, I bet there aren't even too many of the victims children alive. This was a red herring and I'm pleased to see it suffered a rapid death.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 01:59 PMSeveral people said something along the lines of:
"So out of the goodness of their hearts and our tax dollars they decided to stir the pot and undermine our ally Turkey."
Turkey was such a good ally when we invaded Iraq that they refused to allow our troops a northern entry-point into the theater of operation.
Having said that, I agree that the resolution is a waste of time considering a resolution by the US Congress doesn't mean the genocide did or did not happen.
Any cursory study of the issue will show that the genocide occurred, but again, what use is a resolution stating the obvious?
Posted by on November 1, 2007 02:50 PMIt probably IS pretty much academic.Unless you're an Armenian-American. Another pesky aspect of this mini-controversy is that(as I recall) the massacre was one of Christians by Muslims.
