Puritanical lawmakers
Thursday, November 8 at 12:01 AM

Regarding Larry Gauthier’s letter on legalizing prostitution (“Prostitution should be a legal activity,” Oct. 26), I would like to applaud him. I share his opinion on all of the points he made and would also welcome a concomitant reduction in sex-related crimes, etc.

It is unfortunate, however, that some of our puritanical and narrow-minded lawmakers will probably never consider a law of this nature.

It appears that common sense is a thing of the past.

Common sense wasn't part of the past in politics either.

I agree...lets legalize prostitution...and all drugs, but only in Boulder. At least property values will drop so low that anyone could afford to live there!

Wow, 6:37 a.m - that makes NO sense. Get a cup of coffee and have a go at it again!

s a matter of public polocy in Boulder bring the prostitutes into the school system to help educate sexual practices to the youth in this country. Instead of having some uptight teacher demonstrate how a rubber is used have a true proffesional teach the proper methods of use. Have a real pro demonstrate the differance in sexual practices. I mean use proffesionals and teach the children right.

All sillyness aside. Prostitution is the oldest proffesion in the world. If it was legalized health standards could easily be enforced and the rise in STD's would drop with regular mandated checkups.

I don't think this is an issue of puritanical lawmakers. I think most lawmakers if you could get them to really think about an issue like this would agree that legalizing would be more beneficial to our society than our current laws are. That being said, I think they are all too chickinS*** to do anything about it. None of them wants to get that label of being a pervert or sex feind that the real puritanicals in our society will immediately and forcefuly and loudly label them. You want to find someone who will have the balls to try and change this craziness then vote Libertarian. Unfortunately too many L's are just downright crazy and therefore the party doesn't stand a chance of getting in to office to make some commen sense changes.

Well....legalized prostitution has been such a problem. Just look at Germany, The Netherlands, and....gasp....Nevada......

Naaaa, the righties would never go for it.
