Rep. Udall’s H.R. 3119 bill
Wednesday, November 7 at 12:06 PM

Thomas Moore of Boulder writes:

Representative Mark Udall has introduced a bill on Iran that plays directly into President Bush’s plans for attacking Iran (H.R. 3119). The name of the bill sounds great! - To prohibit the use of funds for military operations in Iran. The first paragraph is excellent - clear, concise and demanding NO money for attack on Iran without Congressional permission.
But in the second paragraph the bill lists 4 major exceptions. All are vague but leave the door wide open for Bush/Cheney to mount a major attack. The bill only says that the President would have to submit a report to Congress the next day explaining why he did this. Then, in usual style, Congress would dither and the war would continue. We would hear, “we can’t leave now, we are already in a fight!” “We have to stay to fix things.” “They want us there.” “We’re saving America from Osama..” On and on it would go as we participate in the next Middle East war with thousands more young Americans dying and tens of thousands of Iranian lives destroyed.
Please urge Rep. Udall to revise his bill and replace the exceptions with: The President MUST submit to Congress any proposal to attack or invade Iran and obtain Congressional approval BEFORE he commences an attack or occupation.

thomas all of you members of the republic of boulder are forgetting one big thing on this issue. Bush said we are not going into iran but mrs. bill clinton, your girl hillary, did say she would.

Has anybody noticed that the administration has been trying diplomacy but gets nowhere? What else do you leftwingnuts want done to keep those freaks from going nuclear? Go give them a big hug and "talk to them"?
Of course not, because we could talk to those idiots until the first nuclear bomb goes off in tel aviv and then the left in this country would say the adminstration didn't use enough force to thwart this.
But of course if the US were to strike them after years of trying to coerce them down a different path it will be said they didn't try enough diplomacy prior to military action.

So what do we do? sit back and wait for a bomb to go off then let the dems make the right choice?
By then one of our cities may be leveled as well. Something needs to be done and attacking them would just create more problems but then until the rest of the world wakes up to this fact the current adminstration has said it will keep up with requests for additional sanctions and dialuoge, but no plans for attack.
So why bother with this bill?
For more votes in 2008 for his run for the senate - politics Thomas - plain and simple politics. All he cares about is getting elected to the Senate and firmly planting his ass as career politician.

Udall is scary. The thought of him becoming a US senator is repulsive. We are involved in a shooting war, and we keep on rewarding draft-dodgers. K. Salazar is a draft-dodger too. It is sickening that we are staring down a barrel, where potentially this country could have a NAM draft dodger, occupying the Oval Office for 20 consecutive years. Our military units, taxpayers, and the world, deserve better.

I posted my nephew's comments in another section...when asked what he was learning about Iraq in Army training, he replied, that no one is teaching us about Iraq, they are talking to us about Iran. It makes one think that Bush is hiding something. Now we have an uprising in Pakistan...scary situation for all.
