Rosen is right on
Mike Rosen’s column of Oct. 19, “Al Gore’s ignoble Nobel,” clearly points out the fallacies of Al Gore’s claims about global warming.
Rosen deserves thanks for discussing some of the scientific aspects of global warming which has been occurring on this planet for eons. The climate changes we see today are but pinpricks in the history of the Earth. Before we can do anything about them, if that were at all possible, we will be engrossed in the next climate changes, both warming and cooling.
These changes are natural and inevitable, not man-made. It should also be said that Gore’s absurd claims about global warming do not explain why he should be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.
William C. Iverson, Castle Rock
Al Gore used the research of top scientists, and Rosen just gave his supposedly "expert opinion".
You can continue to keep your head in the sand, but I prefer to leave the earth in better shape than I got it.
I'm with you and Rosen, Will. Pollution is a good thing and conserving is a bad idea. Use up the planet cuz' Jebus is coming.
Posted by James Watt on November 1, 2007 07:21 AMBear,
Rosen has also used research of top scientists. The difference is that they come to different conclusions that are not born out of delirium and illogical pessimism. Just because you don’t like what those scientists say does not mean they are not “top scientists.”
Earlier this week Rosen had on his show Christopher Monckton who is an expert on the IPCC. He said that Rosen was extremely well informed on the issue of global warming.
If a person has a different view than yours that does not mean that they have their head in the sand. Stop being so arrogantly condescending, Bear. You do not have all the answers.
Mountain Cat, are these the same scientist that say the earth is ten thousand years old?
If you don't believe that humans have a detrimental effect on the earth, then your head is in the sand too.
Posted by Bear on November 1, 2007 07:43 AMJames Watt ,
Nobody said that pollution is a good thing and conserving is a bad idea, you ding dong. How about being reasonable and trying to issue a rebuttal that is concrete, if you are capable.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 07:45 AMwhat are you saying 7:45. What is that you are oppossed to? Is it that you just don't like Al Gore? Do you believe Jebus is coming?
Posted by James Watt on November 1, 2007 07:53 AMJesus will be angry when he returns if the world is not used up and burnt out. Conservation shows a lack of faith in His return.
Posted by Ad Hominem on November 1, 2007 09:52 AMbear are you saying algore who flunked out of two colleges is a true scientist? i know he created the internet and now has created global warming too?
maybe he is too busy creatin stuff to understand what he created in his own mind and gets others to believe in.
Bear, "If you don't believe that humans have a detrimental effect on the earth,"
That humans have had a detrimental effect on the earth, say from land misuse, does not mean that humans are the cause of global warming.
Posted by Dave on November 1, 2007 10:45 AM"Rosen has also used research of top scientists."
This is a myth. Rosen has chosen to ignore the work of field-appropriate, peer-reviewed scientists time and time again.
No amount of spin is going to change that.
Again folks....Gore is simply a speaker who is raising awareness of conclusions made by nearly every single, field appropriate, peer-reviewed scientist on the planet. He at no time has claimed that he is a qualified scientists on the matter.
Any final questions on that one?
Posted by jay on November 1, 2007 11:08 AMjay,
I've got a question,
what is it like having a brain the size of a BB ?
1:43 PM:
Envy?
Posted by on November 1, 2007 01:58 PMWell Dave, I guess you are too blind to see the smog that hangs over Denver.
Posted by Bear on November 1, 2007 02:51 PMand Bear your hand wringing and arguing helps that how? Oh yea. Hate Rosen and love Gore. All is better now
btw what are you doing to help with the issue? Your home green? Downsizing and moving closer to work? carpooling? Or is that silly stuff just for the people that do rather than the people that whine and want our Nanny to take care of us?
Posted by bwr on November 1, 2007 03:27 PM"what is it like having a brain the size of a BB ?"
I give up, tell me.
Posted by Bangalore Skank on November 1, 2007 04:30 PMBear,
If you can see it, it isn't CO2. Smog is caused by NOX. Acid rain is caused by SOX. Try to learn a little bit about the issue and then apply some critical thought. Don't just parrot what Al's high priests say.
Posted by on November 1, 2007 04:41 PMSkanky,
Why so defensive? As usual, no one was even talking to you. Keep your disgusting hole shut unless spoken to.
To the author, you sir, are just not paying attention. Global warming is as real as the nose on your face. Our grandchildren are going to have to deal with this "fallacy" as did our grandparents did with the dust bowls of the 30's. Wake up and face the reality. Unfortunately, it's already too late for us all.

That isn't what being defensive looks like, speedy.
That's what it looks like when somebody turns a snarky comment around and makes it a joke on you.
Maybe you just never realized that people were doing that to you.
I am free to answer any question or say something on any topic that strikes my fancy, that's what freedom of speech is for.

Posted by Htiek on November 2, 2007 12:59 PMRb,
The issue is not whether or not the climate is getting warmer. It’s about what causes it. Maybe you’re a little slow on the uptake.

“Mountain Cat, are these the same scientist that say the earth is ten thousand years old?”
You’re not serious, are you? Was that the best you've got?
Jay,
You think you brought up a strong rebuttal by saying, “Rosen has chosen to ignore the work of field-appropriate, peer-reviewed scientists time and time again.”
The point was that Rosen reads the findings of, quotes and interviews experts in the field of climate science. Aren’t you choosing to ignore them only because you don’t like what they conclude?
What the heck does “field-appropriate” mean? Time and time again you use that term.
You will reject this, but it is a fact that there are scientists who are equally qualified to speak on the topic of climate as those you praise and are also respected as “peer-reviewed.”
But, in the world of Jay, only the scientists that rely upon manipulated data and hysteria are the smart ones.
:"The point was that Rosen reads the findings of, quotes and interviews experts in the field of climate science. "
EEEEEEEEE
Wrong answer
If you do'nt know what field-appropriate means...then you're not qualified to defend Rosen's position.
Peer Reviewed.
Field Appropriate.
Find some sources with those qualifications...do some reading...and then get back to us when you're a little more up to speed on the subject
