Three random thoughts
Tuesday, November 13 at 12:01 AM

I have three random thoughts that I wanted to share.

First of all, I was wondering if the Rockies hired the same genius that the Denver Election Board used in the last election, or did they hire the whiz kid that the state of Colorado has been using on its computers? It seems so sad that the Rockies threw away some of the goodwill they had just rebuilt.

When is saving energy a hazard to the community? When the four-watt LED traffic signal cannot melt snow off the traffic signal the same way a 75-watt light can. Southbound traffic on Parker Road during Sunday’s snowstorm had no visible lights because of snow buildup, but we saved a few pennies on electricity. I hope no one got hurt.

Finally, why does RockyMountainNews.com let some people hide? A letter to the editor requires a name and city to get printed, and people do respond to that information.

However, the bloggers get to hide behind a “clever” pseudonym without having to be accountable for their babbling. Name and town should be required of all who want to contribute to the discourse of the day.

Jay, you are right about spinless jerks who hide behind clever pseudonyms.

The posters who THINK most often are the ones who attach their name to their comments. The rest are just muck rakers and zealots who say the same thing over and over ad nauseam. It does not take a literary education to see that they have trouble making their point in a clear and concise way, and that lack of ability is what causes them to not put their name to their comments.

I see the blogger nazi's are out in force.

Having been kicked off, and locked out, for some time now - because of my being a "spineless jerk", perhaps? - I wonder if that was/is the purpose of that form of censorship; just turn the blog over to those who support the approved letters and their publication, and have a nice little mutual admiration society on the website, without the necessity of input that might be either critical or in opposition.

I am simply astonished that black politicians like Groff, Marshall, Hancock?, T.Carroll, O'Malley, Jones, Frazier, etc., remain moot, while black votes are virtually nullified by criminal illegal Mexicans and poor voting machines/processes. The NAACP and greater Denver Ministerial Alliance lack oversight into these problems too. They all fear criminal illegal Mexican advocates (LA RAZA and US Sen. Shamnesty Salazar, El Capitan, SS Amnesty-just another slave ship).

The state's CBMS problems isn't funny. This system is a cash-cow for Owens' GOP cronies. It is steeped in federal funds fraud, waste, abuse, and RICO violations. That is by design. Unfortunately, the Denver deputy USAG can't investigate Owens and his posse, until we have a Dixiecrat president. Troy Eid, the current deputy USAG, lacks the requisite "NADS".

There was a snow storm on Sunday?

Posted by Noname, Grizzly Bear balls Falls MT on November 13, 2007 07:38 AM

Smoke and mirrors storm here in Colorado, brought to you by special interests driven legislators and a fiscally irresponsible governor, with a cast of zealots and fanantics thrown in to obfuscate the the true intentions of the imature, uncaring for the public wellbeing, disastrously dynamic duo.

Posted by Allen Campbell on November 13, 2007 08:23 AM

What is fanantic and imature?

Jay, you are definitely right about those spineless jerks.

I often post anonymously on the global warming hoax. I'm afraid that someone will burn down my house to fight global warming. The new mafia would like to know where the deniers live. Al Capone is now Al Gore. We no longer need to pay for protection we need to pay for CO2 credits.

Evolution and Global Warming are hoaxes.

Posted by Ralph Wigham on November 13, 2007 10:06 AM

No they are both theories. Evolution can be supported thru study of the fossil record. Global warming can be supported from ice core samples. Both happened without human involvement. For some reason the latest global warming, unlike the thousands of warming periods in the earth's history, is due to man. The hoax is that we caused it and that we can stop it.

Dan2

In spite of you being a (shudder) Red Sox devotee, I trust that all went well with the new addition to your family?

Posted by mongoose on November 13, 2007 11:31 AM

Mongoose,

Anytime now. Baby Xander is actually due next Friday, and this is making me C R A Z Y ! ! !

I am usually pretty good at going with the flow, as long as I have a little control, but this anticipation is really REALLY hard!

Thanks for thinking of us though.

Posted by Dan2 on November 13, 2007 12:11 PM

Dan2, Xander?, wasn`t there a perfume with that name?

Best wishes for your family.

Posted by Sharon B. on November 13, 2007 03:27 PM

Sharon,

Alexander, but we really like the name Xander. I have a feeling my Dad will call him AJ, his uncle Mike will call him Alex, and so on.

Thanks for the wishes!

How do you know this isn't my real name?

Posted by Arioch on November 13, 2007 05:26 PM

I, and I think a few other people, would like to know why the RMN publishes letters to the editor from the same people with such alarming frequency. Other papers have a one-letter-a-month, or every two months, rule. (Speaking of Brian Stuckey, I notice his missives also appear in the Denver Post.)

And what ever happened to David Cook of Loveland?

Incidentally, as I'm sure many of you have guessed, Hans Christian Brando is not my real name. It's--oh, never mind.

I think Xander's a cool name, too. I may steal it next.

Posted by Hans Christian Brando on November 13, 2007 06:33 PM

HCB:

Not all the letters posted to this forum end up in the paper.

"However, the bloggers get to hide behind a “clever” pseudonym," says Jay whom I thank for his say; however, the bulk of pseudonyms, are far from clever; most or many are silly and assuming they come from adults downright absurd and pitiful.

Deicide Corner: “I am religious in my own way, but I am hardly brave enough to interpose a theory of my own between life and death. Here both our creeds and our philosophies seem to me to fail.” -- Robert Louis Stevenson

“Whatever a man prays for, he prays for a miracle. Every prayer reduces itself to this: Great God, grant that twice two be not four.” -- Ivan Turgenev

That's a relief, Charles. Then maybe the question ought to be: Doesn't Brian Stuckey have anything better to do?

Posted by Hans Christian Brando on November 14, 2007 11:24 AM

Name of town was not within the scope of "Posted by;" therefore: r22037@yahoo.com Denver

Deicide Corner:  Behold I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even dung from your solemn feasts. Mal. 2
 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh. Deut. 32
 Verily verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood; ye have no life in you. John 6
 And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the Lord against the sun. Num. 25
 Slay man and woman, infant and suckling. I Sam 15 (In the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the Mormons, at least, don’t slay the infant and suckling as it is too young to remember.)
 And David commanded his young men, and they slew them and cut off their hands and their feet and hanged them up over the pool. II Sam 4

These thoughts would have to be considerably more coherent and organized to live up to the name "random".
