Let's call it "The Love Tax"!
“We all know marriage is taxing” -- Sen. Lois Tochtrop, D-Thornton, sponsor of a bill to increase the marriage license fee to pay for divorce counseling.
Not everyone agreed.
“I take exception to Sen. Tochtrop saying marriage is taxing. In fact, many marriages are fee-for-service” – quipped Sen. Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield, whose remark was quickly gaveled by Sen. Chris Romer. The bill won initial passage.
