They are the champions

A pair of Democratic lawmakers have been honored as community health champions by the Colorado Community Health Network.

Sen. Moe Keller, D-Wheat Ridge, and Rep. Dianne Primavera, D-Broomfield, received the honors Tuesday at a ceremony.

Keller was rewarding for stewarding a number of health-care bills, including an expansion of funding for community-health services and creation of a student-loan repayment program for medical professionals in medically underserved communities.

Primavera received the award for sponsoring bills to establish the Colorado Breast and Women's Reproductive Cancers Fund and to create a public awareness program on cervical cancer vaccinations, among other things.

Dr. Martin Koschnitzke of Estes Park and Fox Sports Nework also were honored for their contributions to community health care.
