Harvick makes the winning shot
Despite economic woes, Sprint Cup cars are running again and Saturday night's non-points Budweiser Shootout got the season off to an exciting start with a green-white-checkered finish at Daytona International Speedway.
Carl Edwards was driving the car sponsored by Aflac but it was Jamie McMurray who was the sitting duck at the finish because he was the leader.
Kevin Harvick drove between Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson to move into second after the final restart and then squeezed between McMurray and the wall to take the lead moments before a crash behind then ended the race.
" I knew we had one shot," Harvick said. "The hole wasn't very wide, just for the record."
McMurray was leading when the white flag waved but couldn't block Harvick.
"I didn't think there was room between him and the wall and he just snuck in there," McMurray said. "You feel like a sucker when you're in the front."
