Anthony loses bet, then loses hair

No, it wasn't a publicity stunt in the days leading up to Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony opening his own barbershop.
"Yeah, I lost a bet,'' Anthony said after practice Saturday.
There's no hiding from it. A YouTube video (it's available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu6N9OjVafo or just search "Why Melo Cut His Hair'') clearly shows how Anthony lost a bet late last month, and had to cut his hair.
Anthony arrived Nov. 1 at the Pepsi Center after a two-game suspension to start the season, having cut his cornrows off for the first time for nine years. He now looks like a businessman.
Five days later, Anthony had the grand opening of Studio 15, a posh barbershop he owns in downtown Denver. The lead barber at the shop, Lewis Griffin, is the one Anthony had cut his hair.
It's all in the video. Through Saturday, more than 108,000 had viewed it.
In the video, Anthony, apparently at home while serving his suspension, is preparing to play a friend from Baltimore named Munch in NBA Live 09 by EA Sports.
"You can't beat me at this game, Melo,'' said Munch.
Anthony then suggests a friendly wager.
"Bet your (Olympic gold) medal from Beijing'' or "Your Final Four MVP Award,'' says Munch in a pair of suggestions that are naturally quickly rejected by Anthony.
"If I win this game, you got to cut your hair tonight,'' said Munch, wearing cornrows himself.
"I ain't doing that,'' responds Anthony.
Munch accuses Anthony of being "scared.'' Finally, Anthony agrees.
"If I lose, I got to cut my hair,'' Anthony said. "If you lose, you got to cut your hair.''
The action then gets underway, and Munch beats Anthony to save his hair. Anthony has a down look on his face.
"I lost my bet, man,'' he says.
Anthony's hair is then shown being cut off by Griffin. Anthony's fiancee, La La Vazquez, is shown on the video liking Anthony's new cut, saying, :"You look so good... Amazing. Wow.''
Anthony's mother, Mary Anthony, told the Rocky Mountain News last weekend she also really likes the haircut.
