Touring the Capitol and White House

Mrs. Pearson saved the best day for last. We started out at the White House but unfortunately our view was blocked a bit because they were still taking down barricades, bleachers and other viewing stands that were erected for the inaugural parade.

Another whirlwind day in DC

Our day began at the Jefferson Memorial. This round memorial has a huge bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson right in the middle and also has a beautiful view overlooking the Potomac River.

Well, we finished our third busy day on this WONDERFUL trip! We started off at Arlington National Cemetery.

We made it!

We made it through our first day! Jason thought it was cool that we were in four different states in one day: Colorado, Minnesota, Maryland and Virginia.

A trip of a lifetime!

When my family first heard about a proposed school trip to Washington, D.C., to watch the inauguration, our first thought was "Wow! Wouldn't that be great?"
