gvalerio Hotchkiss certainly is a bit of an unknown but they have played well. it helps when programs get to combine, too. adds depth, which is big come playoff time.

coloradofb i personally am following 2a and a little 5a. the erie faith game this weekend should be fairly interesting.
gvalerio erie-faith should be tremendous, maybe the game of the week, regardless of classification.
Mcballer I have to say I'm shocked they're still alive. They lost to CSCS 7-0 so there's that. they have been a floormat ever since i can remember, so i suppose they're trying to change that

gvalerio DC has been so tough all year, but it seems like in those metro league matchups the past few years, the team that lost the first time comes back and wins the rematch in the playoffs.

gvalerio after this weekend, i would go with platte canyon, faith christian, olathe, and florence. i see faith in a close one over erie, but i don't think it will hurt erie in the power points.
gvalerio what 5A games you like this weekend, coloradofb; and mcballer, how about all the upsets in the 5A soccer playoffs? i'm sure you must play during the club season with some of the 5A players.

gvalerio i was very surprised at that, they were in control all season. denver east is playing its best when it counts the most. bear creek as the 20th seed in the final four. not many people would have picked that.

Mcballer i think bear creek had and advantage playing a mentally solid playoff campaign
gvalerio true, and with the exception of rangeview, all the top 10-15 teams had taken turns beating each other this season.

gvalerio you bet. maybe the top classification from a competitive standpoint.
Mcballer true. there isnt really a set of teams at the top of the hill, unlike other classifications
Mcballer glenwood seems to really be chasing a title
gvalerio i think glenwood springs has distinguished itself with its tough schedule, and it beat a very good montrose team (4A), so i would say they are a cut above right now. they also have the best player in the classification, too, with dakota stonehouse. our 3A reporter loves the kid's ability.
gvalerio i think they are driven, too, after getting upset in the first round last season.

mwinkler Who do you like in the VB Regionals this weekend?
gvalerio which classification? there is some great matchups in each class. the best one overall might be in 2A Region D with colorado springs school, hoehne, fowler and simla. four great teams.
mwinkler 5A. I know the favorite is CC. Anyone that you think could upset?
gvalerio not this weekend, in talking to our vb writer alan pearce. he thinks the bruins are too talented across the board. they have taken on all comers.
mwinkler What's the feeling about Highlands Ranch?
gvalerio that could be the best region, though. lakewood and ralston valley have played very well this season.
gvalerio i think they should get out of that region, along with mountain vista. highlands ranch always seems to make its way to the coliseum. great coach, great program year in, year out.
mwinkler Lakewood just got beat by Columbine last time out in three.
gvalerio they did, true, but they also beat columbine earlier in the season and won that league, so they are capable.
mwinkler I'm biased. Hoping HR can pull an upset and at least get to the final four. My daughter is the MB-Erica. CC looks to be almost unbeatable, though.
gvalerio what's your thought on eaglecrest - should they break regionals, too?
mwinkler The top 8 seeds should make it. I think that Eaglecrest is better than Lakewood. I worry more about Arapahoe. Their record doesn't reflect the close matches they have had. they took CC to 5 and lost the last game by 2 points.
gvalerio great point about arapahoe. i know alan pearce saw them early and liked them as well. sounds like that game with the falcons could determine which team is playing next week. make sure to check the chat next week. i'm going to try to have alan on next week to take about state volleyball. he knows h
