Rocky Preps chat, Nov. 12
b-man This is Brad with the Rocky Mountian News, sorry I'm late
b-man technical difficulties, how are you sm32989?
b-man Well I'll start with what I think will be the best matchup in 4A football this week...Greeley West at Montrose
sm32989 good man
b-man I think GW has a tough task going to Montrose, that's a very tough place to play
sm32989 West is a pretty good team this year though
b-man West could have easily been the No. 1 seed
b-man But Montrose may have the best home advantage in 4A...maybe
sm32989 I still like wheat ridge in 4A
sm32989 Orms is a stud
b-man Wheat Ridge is hard not to like. Orms is awesome. But Fountain Fort Carson is a good team. Devyn Harris is a stud
b-man I think FFC's win over Ralston was one of the most impressive of the first round
sm32989 so is there other back, he is pretty quick in the open field
b-man Def, Quinton Lawson is very good, this will be a huge test for the Farmers
sm32989 Should be a good match up, two good defenses and offenses that can put up some points
sm32989 Who do you like in 3A
b-man WR may have to throw it to loosen up FFC's defense
b-man 3A has gotta be Glenwood Springs, right?
sm32989 The tri valley has some good teams still alive too
b-man I like D'Evelyn in 3A too
sm32989 Glenwood will probably have to go through the tri valley to get the crown
b-man Well Glenwood's victory over 4A Montrose still sticks in my mind, best 3A victory of this season, even if it was Week 1
b-man Still not sure how they did that
sm32989 Did montrose's starting QB play in that game? I heard he did not
b-man he broke his hand in that game, that's when the soph Nathan Robertson took over, and he has proved to be very good
sm32989 I see
b-man what team do you like in 5A sm32989?
sm32989 D'Evelyns QB is a stud too
sm32989 It is hard to argue with Grandview, they have shown success last year and throughout this year
b-man Yep, Griffeth is very good. Someone asked me if he'll play in college and I think he can at a lower level.
b-man Grandview has gotta be a heavy favorite, but Mullen is going to be a tough, tough out
sm32989 They always are, but the University of Mullen should be every year
b-man It will be interesting to see if they can slow down that Rocky Mountain passing game
b-man And Grandview has a strong opponent this week, like they say, it is tough to beat a good team twice in one season
b-man There are a couple rematches this week, and I wonder if coaches have installed some different packages to surprise teams
sm32989 I think it depends on the team
b-man Like Columbine coming out and throwing it 50 times...just kidding
sm32989 Good luck with that one
sm32989 They havent thrown 50 times this century
b-man But a team like rocky mountain, who everyone knows wants to throw it, maybe trying to run...who knows, but it will be fun to follow
b-man That's where teams that have balanced offenses, like GW in 4A and Mullen in 5A, can be really dangerous, they have the capability to run or pass
mwinkler joined.
b-man Heritage, too. I think that will be a good game down at District 20 agaisnt Pine Creek
mwinkler left.
sm32989 I think a good running game is more important in November, especially this weekend, like the Summit-Fort Morgan matchup in 3A where Summit throws it alot and FM runs, who has the advantage?
b-man could depend on the weather, you're right
b-man I think Summit will put on those scuba diving gloves and throw it around, regardless
b-man you gotta stick with what got you there, right?
sm32989 It is tough to catch an ice cube though
birddawg joined.
b-man howdy birddawg, what's on your mind?
b-man This is Brad Byler with the Rocky Mtn News
birddawg a little feedback on Hotchkiss crashing the private school soccer party
b-man yeah, good for them, that's not easy to do
b-man do you like any football teams in the playoffs this weekend birddawg?
birddawg seems as though the rub is that they are a county team, rather getting to pick from the entire metro area
birddawg Have seen them all this year, but would have to with Akron. Too big, strong and fast. You
sm32989 Akron is a great football team
ktorrez66 joined.
b-man Haven't seen any teams in Class A, but Akron is unbeaten and No. 1 seed, I wouldn't go against them
sm32989 That single wing is hell to defend
b-man I mean how many shutouts has Akron had, geez
birddawg Yuma will be scary, but I don't think they have the horses. 2A is wide open in my opinion and Glenwood has D1 potential
ktorrez66 left.
b-man yeah, we talked about Glenwood and their impressive victory over Montrose earlier in the season
sm32989 Who has the best chance against glenwood?
b-man Have you seen Rye birddawg, I hear they are awesome
birddawg 4A/5A who ever gets hot like each year
b-man I'd go with D'Evelyn again, because of the schedule they've played
birddawg Rye is tallented and fast. Not nearly the sprrd of Hotchkiss or the power of the others but capable of the win
b-man Do you like the 5A playoff format, or the format of the other classes?
b-man I think 32 teams is way too many
sm32989 Was the metro pretty good this year? in 3A
sm32989 I agree
ktorrez66 joined.
sm32989 It is the same in basketball though, I think it is so CHSAA can collect the gate from all those games
b-man maybe, i just think they like to experiment, to see what format people like
hudson joined.
birddawg I believe the state has to look at travel and rewarding league champions with seeding to start and going from there. Outside the metro area travel is going to kill the way we operate if not addressed
b-man i saw Douglas County blow out Montbello in Round 1, and I just wonder if the Montbello kids would have been better off not playing in a playoff game, kind of a downer to a pretty good season
birddawg As mentioned earlier, it is all about the $$$ to CHSAA not the kids
b-man well, then a team might play all its playoff games at home, not sure if I want that
b-man howdy ktorrez66
b-man and what's up hudson
denverfb joined.
b-man this is brad byler with the Rocky Mtn News
ktorrez66 so does anyone know how Columbine was allowed to play 3 of 5 starters that had been suspended in the A West/Columbine game
birddawg Playing at home is akiller finacially for the host. you have to hope for lots of hotdogs at halftime
b-man maybe mix up the menu a bit with some tacos? ha ha
b-man don't know the answer to your question ktorrez, but I'm pretty sure Lowry went by the book, not going to risk an infraction
sm32989 left.
sm32989 joined.
rodh joined.
birddawg Columbine was an in house issue. State has no policies on training rules.
b-man Columbine-Pomona will be interesting. Wonder if those kids who missed last week will be rusty
birddawg They will be well rested and angry, look out
denverfb left.
rodh What are your thoughts on who has the best shot at winning the 2A football crown
ktorrez66 The game is gonna be an exciting one. I'm sure both teams will come out with their A game
gnngs joined.
birddawg Faith has power, Olathe has speed. Think the champ will come from here.
bryan515 joined.
b-man good question rodh, havent' seen any 2A teams, but Kent Denver plays some tough competition during the season
b-man Faith is always a perennial favorite
birddawg Hand picked and loaded
RussMason joined.
b-man hey bryan515, just talking all classes of football, which one do follow?
b-man RussMason? howdy Russ, this is Brad Byler with the Rocky
bryan515 i am a graduate of st. mary's hs in colorado springs. just average every year.
denverfb joined.
RussMason Hi Brad. I'm a Longmont fan
RussMason What do you think of the Trojans' chances against Dakota Ridge?
b-man nothing wrong with that bryan515, sometimes the kids who experience losing learn more from HS sports
b-man in the long run
bryan515 yeah we had other good programs. men's golf, cross country, women's soccer
bryan515 back to back state championship apperances
bryan515 for soccer
b-man Longmont, huh? Do they have a shot this weekend?
b-man yep, st. mary's has had its moments, for sure
denverfb birddawg i was just a little confused by your comment. you said faith was hand picked and loaded. what did you mean?
RussMason that's what I'm wondering. I don't know much about Dakota Ridge. What can you tell me about the Dakota Ridge offense and defense?
b-man Johnson of Longmont is a difference maker in 4A
ForeverFan joined.
RussMason He's definitely a dual-threat quarterback
b-man I didn't say Faith was hand picked and loaded, that was someone else, I said they are always a perenial
RussMason With speed like that, he certainly stays away from the donuts at breakfast time!
birddawg Nothing more than the ability to recruit the metro area for "academic" reasons
ForeverFan left.
bryan515 should be a lot of good games this weekend
denverfb so you think faith recruits kids correct?
b-man I think donuts are Johnson's secret
sm32989 who do you like fort morgan or summit?
b-man I don't think faith recruits, but when you have a great program, it is easy to draw kids to it
birddawg There is not a private school in the metro area that doesn't work the kids and anybody that thinks different is fooling themselves
b-man I'll go with fort morgan, based on great tradition
denverfb sorry b-man i meant that for birddawg but i agree with that statement
denverfb do you actually have proof of this?
bryan515 i dont think there is much proof of recruiting, just what you hear
b-man hey Russ, Dakota Ridge is good, better than they were early in the season. they shook off the rust of an easy conference sked
birddawg It is like any question, until somebody challenges it it is always a question. Ask yourself why Mullen has more DPS kids than East
RussMason I agree with b-man. I think sometimes people view a program that is good every single year and they assume there is recruiting going on. But, I think often it's simply kids want to go play at School A because they know they have a chance to win. Or, their friends are at School A and they want to pla
ktorrez66 Different schools different rules.
RussMason I don't think many coaches get involved in recruiting at all
birddawg Please, how does L. White end up at Chatfield?
wing-t joined.
RussMason I didn't say there's NEVER recruiting. I said I don't think it happens near as often as people think
Joe_Football joined.
b-man with the transfer rules in colorado it is easy to perceive a kid getting recruited, but kids have choices, and friends influence them
denverfb birddawg have you ever thought that these kids choose these schools because they are actually good academically and they see the athletics as a chance to win?
RussMason That said, I think kids might choose Mullen (or Chatfield back then) because Dave Logan is the coach, and Dave Logan may have nothing to do with him going there
birddawg Sure, that is why Greer couldn't ACT qualify at CU after going through Mullen
ktorrez66 maybe not but promises to parents for coverage and a team being built around their kid can provoke alot of incentive and funding
groovyblue joined.
b-man i think that is right on the money
RussMason Reputation has a lot to do with kids playing for certain coaches or schools
b-man right on the money, i mean, about kids wanting to play for Logan
denverfb well has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe these kids actually work hard to be good and every school isn't out recruiting?
RussMason I'm quite sure there is some recruiting going on. I just don't think it happens as often as people think
curtaloki joined.
b-man I think Alameda should start recruiting...just kidding. Recruiting rumors have been going on a long time
rodh As long as there are private and puplic schools playing together it will be a subject of controversy
birddawg Logan is great coach and a tallented kid would want to play there but don't kid yourself it goes on with clubs, assistants , parents etc.. getting others to join
groovyblue I know Mullen recruits in other sports ... I don't worry about it too much tho
b-man I agree rodh
b-man hey groovyblue, how are you, this is Brad Byler with the News
groovyblue Hey, I came to check some stats and found the chat going on
RussMason Of course it happens with clubs, parents, etc. It happens because kids play together on club teams and so they want to play together on the high school teams.
bryan515 left.
birddawg Cut the controversity, make them count every student like public and double the enrollment like they do in the midwest. Mullen vs Faith. Now that I can live with
groovyblue RussMason, yes my experience was with soccer and competitive clubs creating reasons for kids to play together in hs
wing-t The downside of coaching at Regis and Mullen is that you get good kids but most of their parents think they're all-stars right off the bat.
groovyblue woah, aren't they ALL all stars?
b-man we all know parents can have oversized expectations, at every school
groovyblue There was something satisfying about having a city school - East - beat Regis in soccer this year. Doesn't happen too often
RussMason Hey b-man, thanks for all your great high school coverage. I look forward to reading your coverage this weekend. have a great night!
wing-t Only MY kid is an all-star. You all know that. lol
birddawg Back to the original post, they were squeling like stuck pigs with Hotchkiss soccer, beat Faith,CSCS, Fountain Valley and Colorado Academy
rodh That's for sure, I used to be one of those parents
groovyblue Makes a note about wing-t's kid
b-man thanks Russ, and thanks everyone, gotta start wrapping it up
ktorrez66 left.
wing-t Long gone from high school - and went to a public school.
groovyblue birddawg, new posters can't see the original post
RussMason left.
birddawg Good luck to all this weekend
b-man good conversation about recruiting, or the rumors of it, and good luck to everyone and their teams this weekend
wing-t Brad, who do you like this week: Pomona-Columbine and CC Grandview?
groovyblue May the best teams win, with all all stars, too
b-man I'll pick Pomona and Grandview
denverfb birddawg but why do u automatically assume the great private schools recruit?
b-man who do you like?
amy joined.
groovyblue Grandview for sure. Pomona/Columbine, whoever makes least mistakes
denverfb oh and b-man who do you like between kent and olathe?
wing-t Columbine in an upset, Grandview in a romp.
hudson glenwood
groovyblue Glenwood has some GOOD players.
b-man I'll go with Kent, but only because I didn't see Olathe, so not counting them out
wing-t Gotta like Olathe. Those country kids know how to play.
birddawg If you have been around the state awhile the constant rumors and finger pointing goes on plus I have sons who have been approached
denverfb who is your pick for 2A state finalists and who wins?
denverfb by whom may i ask?
amy I have a question about how all state is picked for softball
b-man I have to go with Faith in 2A, based on experience
groovyblue yes, amy? what's the ???
rodh I like Faith, they play a very disciplined style of football.
wing-t That's a good, well-coached program at Faith. Football and basketball.
birddawg Regis, Chatfield, little comments about clubs and opportunities etc.
b-man Amy, the Rocky Mtn News all state teams are picked by the News staff, with input from the coaches
denverfb so then you automatically assume all private schools recruit?? isn't that a bit unfair?
groovyblue b-man, do they pay attention to the all conference teams first, or just go with their own opinion
denverfb rodh have you seen faith play this year?
wing-t To be very honest, I think most kids self-recruit to Mullen and Regis. Wanting to play for Dave Logan has a lot to do with it.
denverfb i agree wing-t 100 percent
b-man they pay attention to the all conference teams, but place more emphasis on coaches input, sometimes all conference teams place limits on number of players by school and politics
groovyblue Self-recruit or parent-recruit. Sometimes parents have the bigger dreams for their kdis
birddawg Not all private schools, but you got believe there is a lot that goes on. Especially in the 3A area. Double there enrollment , move them up see how they respond.
rodh Yes, they play tough hard nosed football. They are very well coached as well. They also don't make mistakes.
amy My neice who started freshman varsity won state and was also picked for all colorado and all state. A few parents from 3A SAY THAT A 14 YR OLD IS NOT ALLOWED TO WIN. This award is not only for 17 and 18 year old is it?
wing-t And I think the majority of kids go to Faith, Lutheran, Christian and Valor because their parents want them to have religious training. The occasional high-profile kid who winds up going cross-town to play at a private school drives all the rumors.
groovyblue nope, for best playres
denverfb i don't have to believe anything birddawg. i believe that these schools have great coaches and players that want to win. thats what i believe
groovyblue congrats to your neice, amy
b-man the News all state teams do not restrict by age or year in school, but again, we really on coaches input, and often coaches like the older players
wing-t I've always thought that if you have two equal kids for an all-state team, let the tie breaker go to the older kid.
birddawg To a point the religious schools have many in thier ranks for the right reasons. Only takes a few at that level to change the tide.
b-man gotta start wrapping it up, any last football picks? I think greeley west is going to survive montrose and win 4A
denverfb i like your points rodh. what games have you seen because i follow them a little but not too much
groovyblue you going to the games bman?
amy Great. Thank you. I look forward to seeing her (on Line) in the paper tomorrow!!!!
b-man yes, going to see 4A games on Friday and Saturday
groovyblue I'm going to CSU, then Glenwood/Berthoud, then CU. I will skip football Sunday, lol
wing-t So you think anybody but Heritage and Wheat Ridge can win 4A?
rodh denverfb- the Erie and Holy Family games.
b-man great groovyblue, looking forward to your feedback on the glenwood game
groovyblue Heard their Qback is sometihng else
denverfb oh i saw highlights of those. you have kids on either team?
Joe_Football What about that 6-hour bus ride for Greeley-West?
b-man heck no, i think heritage and wheat ridge have a great shot
wing-t They should. After all, they're 5A schools playing down by a few kids in their enrollment.
birddawg left.
b-man gotta go, thanks everyone

Heritage will win 4A, loosing one game by a blown last second call to WR got them seeded to #8, but they will cruise through the playoffs all the way to state, I mean nobody could score on them for the first 8 games of the season, and wheatridge couldn't for the entire first half.

Nice call Jakemac. Heritage just cruised to a loss in the quarterfinals....while Wheat Ridge continues on.
Blown call?? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Wheat Ridge dominated the second half of that game as they always do. Giving up 256 rushing yards to Orms when the whole defense was geared to stop him...and you think Heritage deserved to win? Heritage punting out of bounds each time they punted just so Orms couldn't touch the ball..and you think Heritage deserved to win?

Thanks for giving your ideas on this blog. In addition, a misconception regarding the banking institutions intentions any time talking about foreclosures is that the standard bank will not have my installments. There is a certain amount of time that the bank can take payments here and there. If you are way too deep in the hole, they are going to commonly call that you pay the actual payment in full. However, that doesn't mean that they will have any sort of installments at all. If you and the bank can find a way to work some thing out, this foreclosure approach may stop. However, in the event you continue to skip payments wih the new approach, the property foreclosure process can just pick up exactly where it was left off.
