Sherman & Howard merges with Vail firm
Sherman & Howard, Denver’s oldest and fourth-largest law firm, has acquired a "Who's Who" of mountain real estate clients by combining its firm with Vail-based Wear, Travers & Perkins LLC.
Clients of the 20-year-old firm have included: East West Partners, Slifer, Smith & Frampton Real Estate, Hines Highlands Limited Partnership, Broadmoor Development Co. and the Telluride Ski and Golf Company.
Wear focused on real estate development, common interest communities and general real estate law.
This marks Sherman & Howard's seventh office in Colorado, Nevada and Arizona.
"This combination reinforces our ability to provide clients with outstanding counsel in highly sophisticated real estate transactions," Steven D. Miller, a member of the executive committee at Sherman & Howard said in a statement. " With this addition, we are able to offer a broader range of services and experience.”
Jim Wear, founder and president of his namesake firm, said the merger will make them more competitive, by aligning themselves with a full-service firm whose experience goes beyond real estate.
With the addition of Wear, Travers & Perkins, Sherman & Howard now has more than 160 attorneys. In the past, the firms have shared clients and served as co-counsel.
“Clients from both firms will find our practice areas to be compatible and, in fact, complementary to one another," Rebecca Fischer, a member of Sherman & Howard’s Business & Real Estate Department and the firm’s Executive Committee, said in a statement. "As a result of this combination, they will have access to a greater depth of services throughout the state.”
