Starting the trip; July 25

The humidity tour, 10 games in 10 days in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Florida, will begin without much humidity. It's 80 degrees, by no means stifling in Cincinnati, although rising
temperatures are forecast for the weekend.

With an eye toward the heat on this trip, manager Clint Hurdle said all his positition players would get a start on this trip. He said Clint Barmes, who has been taking balls in the outfield, is a good candidate to start a game there in Pittsburgh or Florida, where the Rockies will see left-handed starters.

LHP Zach Duke is scheduled to start Wednesday for the Pirates. Marlins left-hander Scott Olsen is scheduled to start on Aug. 3, the final day of this trip.

Hurdle considered not starting Matt Holliday tonight, since he has started every game since the All-Star break, which wasn't a break for him since Holliday traveled to New York and played in the All-Star Game. But Hurdle said Holliday told him last night that he was fine, so he's in the lineup again tonight.
