Cook resting; lefties in lineup

RHP Aaron Cook has called it a season. Meanwhile, the Rockies have six more games to play, and manager Clint Hurdle went iwth a left-handed look against RHP Tim Lincecum of San Francisco on Tuesday.

Cook has 16 wins, one shy of the club single-season record, but opted against a Friday start in Arizona. Jason Hirsh will make his first big-league start of the season in place of Cook. Cook said feels the grind of the season, but is healthy and wants to head into the off-season healthy so he can get into a good program to get ready for next season.

The Rockies have five left-handed hitters in the lineup tonight, including CF Seth Smith hitting lead off. RF Brad Hawpe is hitting fourth with 3B Ian Stewart sixth, 1B Joe Koshansky seventh and 2B Omar Quintanilla eighth.

FYI: C Chris Iannetta goes into Tuesday night's game 6-for-8 with four walks, a home run and three RBI against Lincecum, highest average of any player with 10 plate appearances against the Giants right-hander.
