Big game for Ubaldo

Ubaldo Jimenez pitched six scoreless innings for Licey on Thursday and allowed one hit in a 7-1 win over Aguilas in the Dominican Winter League playoffs. Jimenez, who turns 25 next Thursday, walked one, struck out five and got 11 outs on ground balls and two on fly balls. The lone hit off Jimenez was a single grounded into right field with two out in the third inning. That was also the first ball Jimenez allowed to leave the infield.

In four playoff starts for Licey, Jimenez is 4-0 with a 2.21 ERA, allowing 12 hits and five earned runs in 20 1/3 innings with eight walks and 15 strikeouts. Jimenez joined Licey in mid-December and made three regular-season appearances, two in relief, before Christmas.
