Led Zeppelin reunion? Not really

Ever since the triumphant Led Zeppelin reunion in London last December, every few weeks someone tries to float the rumor that a tour is on.

It's not. It never has been. Robert Plant is adamant that his new direction with Alison Krauss is his priority -- as it should be. He hasn't been so inspired in years, and anyone who was at Red Rocks to catch their show this summer can attest to that.

The part of the rumors that have been true is that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have been rehearsing together and even auditioning a few singers, with Myles Kennedy of the crappy Florida band Alter Bridge being touted (unfortunately) as the possible singer.

Word is starting to finally leak to the mainstream media after Zeppelin insiders kept it under wraps for months. Jones himself confirmed it this week, setting off another round of reunion stories.

Based on my sources in the Zep camp I think we'll see some Page/Jones/Bonham configuration tour in 2009. And yes, Zeppelin songs will be played, along with other music. But no one is calling this a Led Zeppelin reunion or remotely suggesting that it would go out under that name. Plant wouldn't stand for it, and neither would fans.

But the notion of seeing those three onstage together, no matter who is on vocals, is a dream come true for many fans, myself included. Stay tuned.

Have you ever even listened to Alter Bridge? I doubt you have by reading your sorry excuse of journalism. "Crappy band" well if this is a crappy band then your article is shitty! Not very nice nor professional is it?

Looks like it IS happening and i guess they ARENT going to call you first. BTW where did you get the idea that "Plant wouldn't stand for it",
not from anything plant has said. in fact in his only satement, he "wished them the best of luck".
Get used to it. BTW What gives plant the right to veto ANYTHING that band wants to do?

"Crappy Band"? Wow, I suggest you go listen to Alter Bridge before you make an idiotic comment like that.

Mr. Brown must not be able to see past that ridiculus and antiquated bush growing on his face.

Crappy Florida band? Perhaps, like most music journalists, he has an ax to grind with the popularity of the band members' previous gig of which Mr. Kennedy was not a part.

I truly doubt he has given Alter Bridge a fair and objective listen of late or he would realize the error of his journalistic ways.

Ignoring that a blog isn't a real news source, so that things like professional journalism are therefore optional, if you want anyone to take your opinions seriously, you might begin with some proper grammar (subject verb agreement, punctuation, etc). After that, move on to fact checking (MK is from Spokane, guys named Page and Jones have called this a LZ reunion, etc). When you get done with the basics, consider your entire premise and its consistency (following "crappy" and "unfortunately" with "no matter who is on vocals...a dream come true").

I'm not sure why you go so far out of your way to bash Myles Kennedy and Alter Bridge. My guess is that you don't know nothing about him or AB's music (which really is unfortunate). But if Myles ends up doing this, consider that your beloved LZ has its pick of any singer in the world, and that you might rely on their judgement before ignorantly throwing out words like "crappy" and "unfortunately".

I guess I'm happy that I ended up on an Alter Bridge fanmail list, but it doesn't erase the fact that Myles is a 15th level singer, paired with musicians who would carry the show -- regardless of the "singer." If they pick Myles, so be it.

Got an email from my buddy saying even Steven Tyler from Areosmith has been jamming with Page-Jones.
I'd rather see them shake it up and go with a female singer. I saw Beth Hart play here at the Wells Fargo theater with Jeff Beck, singing all those tunes Rod Stewart used to belt out. She blew me away. Here's my vote. Check her out signing Whole Lotta Love. What do you think? I know....the Janis Joplin voice revisited.

    Mr. Brown,
You were not so lucky to end up on an Alter Bridge fan list.. That's very niave of you. The fact is for some reason your story was on the front page of google news when you typed in Led Zeppelin. Pure luck of the matter.

Myles is one of the best rock singers in the world. Whether you like his voice, or the type music he plays, you can not deny the fact that he is very talented. The guy has a 4 octave range. He is an amazing guitarist as well. Something Led Zeppelin could benefit from since it is well documented that Page can be a little sloppy. All I ask is don't make unfair judgements on someone or something without facts. You may not like his or their style but professionalism is something you need to learn.

Wow, Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge has a great voice. Plant is too old and has smoked too many packs of Marlboro's over 4 decades to keep up to Myles voice. Here's a Kashmir cover.

Perhaps some of you need to listen to more singers before making such a statement.
