Yes? No.
I've been getting nervous emails from Yes fans ever since the band canceled two dates in Texas due to an unspecified "medical emergency." Word now comes down that tonight's show at the Paramount Theatre is also canceled. Fans can get refunds where they bought their tickets or hang on to them for a while in case the date is rescheduled.
No mention of the news on the official Yes Web site just yet.

WHAT????
Yes was playing here tonight? How in the freaking Hades did I miss that???
Could someone PLEASE direct me to a comprehensive list that shows upcoming REAL concerts in this dang concert-starved town? I have not been able to find one anywhere. How long has this concert been advertised? Where? It's like when Van Morrison played here a couple of years ago, I didn't even hear about it til the day of the concert. Heck, I'd actually buy a copy of the Rocky once in a while if it listed ALL upcoming concerts, sheesh.
As for the medical emergency: Front man Jon Anderson has been battling some respiratory or throat problems for the last couple of years, so this may be why they cancelled. I hope Jon pulls through, as Yes concerts are some of the best I have ever seen. They are a band who can play their instruments better than just about anybody in the business, and their music writing is almost symphonic.
Get well, Jon, see you when you can reschedule.

Jon Anderson isn't touring with the band. Not only did the Rocky list this show but we ran an interview with a band member last week.
Latest update from Live Nation is this won't be rescheduled, so get your refunds where you bought your tickets.

This is extremely odd..Jon must be very sick.
Yes has had multiple personnel changes over the years, but touring without Jon Anderson is tantamount to King Crimson touring without Robert Fripp.
Hope Jon is okay. Very sad.

They've already completed one full leg without Jon Anderson, and the first show (in Mexico) of this second leg. Here in Denver, we were due to be the third show of this tour.
Rumors are fairly rampant on line - it's been said that Chris Squire had blood clot(s) in his leg, that he felt numbness during a soundcheck in Houston, which lead to him being hospitalized (where, presumably, he remains). There's some reporting that this entire leg of the tour is going to be postponed and rescheduled, but, band members' other priorities may not allow that to happen (Steve Howe has obligations with Asia through out the summer, Oliver Wakeman has also replaced his dad in the Strawbs for a tour this year, Alan White is signed up for the Rock 'n Roll Fantasy Camp).
My wife has suggested that this maybe a Kharmic debt owed by Chris Squire, for pushing forward without Jon Anderson. Myself, while I love Jon Anderson and hope he returns, I was looking forward to hearing some music that Jon steadfastly has refused to play (i.e. songs from the 'Drama' album).
Regardless, I wonder how this third straight cancellation (after the ill-fated More Drama tour of '05 and the even more ill-fated 40th Anniversary Tour last summer) will effect Yes' ability to return to Denver, should they be able to continue - Mark? Will promoters continue to book them here?
That Squire has been laid up is perhaps a too sharp reminder that these guys aren't getting any younger.

I hear about concerts from numerous sources, but, perhaps the best possible way to hear about everything coming through is to sign up for Ticketmaster's mailing list. I guess LiveNation is merging with them, but, I'd also join their mailing list, too. The venues themselves also have mailing lists - I'm a member of the Pepsi Center, the Paramount Theater (from whom I first heard this particular news, via an email blast) and the Broomfield Events Center.
There are also numerous websites on the web that post regular information about bands, depending upon your taste - Blabbermouth.net is great for hard rock/metal news, NME.com is great for pop/modern rock, melodicrock.com is great for heavy rock, plus pretty much any band in which you're interested (including Yes) have websites that regularly update with touring information.
That said, it's worth noting that Yes' official website STILL does not note this cancellation, as of 4:15PM local time.

He is very sick - apparently, according to his daughter, he nearly died last year from a severe asthma attack.
Interestingly, though, he also was supposedly demanding (and due to receive) a full 40% of the band's take on last year's cancelled tour, with the other members splitting the rest. So, that also might have something to do with it...

Alas, we're a long suffering bunch, Yes fans. This is the sort of treatment to which we've, unfortunately, grown accustomed.

Dear Rock_and_or_roll,
First, www.pollstar.com is the pre-eminent site for tracking all music bands concerts by city, region, band, venue, etc. It is free and also contains interesting stories on events, etc. I've used it for years in all my travels.
Second, if Chris Squire actually has a blood clot or other circulatory problem as reported, it makes sense that the tour is put on hold for sometime until the medicine, etc. takes hold. Who knows it may need to be cancelled but YES will return as to my knowledge the only YEs reincarnation that ever toured without Chris in 40 plus years was ABWH over 16 years ago. Chris may still own the YES name solely?
Anyway, although Jon and Rick and Chris have had to step aside due to various medical problems, and Bill Bruford has retired, one ponders if this wonderful 40 year journey is coming to an end? No doubt touring like they have is not easy, especially when your in your sixties. But on the other hand, the last few tours I've seen them play, they really seem to be having a lot more fun and play extremely well because they love doing it and are amazed of the following they still have. And god these guys are still talented musicians. It's not about money, it's for themselves as bandmates and for us loyal Yesfans. So I do believe that they will return in some form at some future date.

I've seen Yes 4-5 times since 1972. I cannot tell you how many friends came to know them by visiting me and hearing there music in the 70's.
Each original member made that sound and I could never imagine anyone singing like Jon Anderson or stepping up to that challenge. I have to say that the replcement is doing their music great justice, but I'd never go see them without Jon. I prefer to just bask in the memory of wonderful energy that was the original YES. However, I have a tape of ABWH, (with Brother of Mine), where Jon sits beside a waterfall and says: "Yes will always be..maybe not with myself, or Ric, or Steve, but it will always be here is some form or another). So when someone talks Karma...let us all remember we all have Karma. I think that Jon is an artist, driven and not with out ego and he is just human and is sad that he cannot be on stage with his band.
To age with grace and pass it all down to the young. Be honored they have hearts and ears to hear the music.

I was really pissed they canceled day of show, I'm a huge Yes fan and had 5th row at the Paramount in my pocket waiting to get off work and go and got an email from Live Nation saying the show is canceled.
Makes me think twice about buying tickets from Craigslist, and not the source. My credit card is being refunded according to Live Nation. What a bummer for anyone traveling to see a show, all that $ down the drain.

I saw Yes on the Open Your Eyes tour in '99 in an open-air venue, just a phenomenal experience. It saddens me to hear that there might be friction, but hey, look how long these core members of the group have been together.
I am curious whether any of you Yes fans also enjoy King Crimson? Several Yes alumni have rotated through Robert Fripp's backup roster over the years. Did any of you enjoy Jon and Vangelis?

Well now, wasn't it Chris Squire that DID NOT want to wait for Anderson's health to improve so Anderson could tour with the band. When Jon was told by his doctor to rest for a while he asked the band to wait, Squire instead went out and found a "singer" to fill in for Jon...well Maybe that Anderson is doing better he should tour with Yes and find a bass player for Squire. Trust me, I wish the best health for all of them, but what Chris did to Jon was wrong, and now it comes back to him

No offense to Jon, but I was looking forward to seeing the guys do a lot of the Drama tunes live. So were they, so please stop all the judgemental, 'karmic' side comments. It cracks me up when people read too much drama (pun intended) into the proceedings.
It may be my 2nd or 3rd fave Yes album though I missed the original tour back in the late 70s (late bloomer, rock'n'roll and concertwise). I know Steve has Asia commitments starting in March, so who knows if they can make it back to Houston after that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Drama is a studio miracle.
One of my favorite Yes albums. Even Eddie Offord couldnt have mixed that one.If you ever heard the Drama concet live you could possibly be dissapointed. At times it sounded like a copy band. I saw Yes here in Chicago about 5 years ago and Chris Squires did a solo with 'Does it really happen' Thats about as close as that album was going to be played at the show.
Yes is my all time influence and soulmate band.
I hope in God's name that they are all back and healthy.
Wouldnt it be great if every member of YES toured in one show?....I know, we'll probably never see that but miracles do happen. :)
Peace and Goodwill
