A.I. the right fit for the Nuggets?
Bernie Lincicome says if Allen Iverson is The Answer, somebody is asking the wrong question.
The Nuggets would not win the NBA title with Allen Iverson. No team will win the NBA title with Iverson. The 76ers could not win with Iverson. The U.S. Olympic team could not win with Iverson. Georgetown could not win with Iverson.Iverson went from co-captain of America's Team to being unwelcomed on his own team, the same team he carried on his slight shoulders to the NBA Finals a few years ago, paid not to play, expunged from Philadelphia and denied international participation even after he had to ask.
Anyone who looks at Iverson and sees a savior ought to turn the binoculars around.
Fair enough, but I'd still like to see Iverson in a Nuggets uniform. If the Nuggets can land A.I. without giving up Carmelo Anthony or Marcus Camby, they should do whatever it takes to make the deal.
The biggest hurdle has already been cleared. Anthony already buys into the deal, even though it will surely cost him (and Iverson) the chance to win the scoring title. Iverson would bring the Nuggets from being on the cusp on a second-round playoff contender to being on the cusp of a Finals contender. Besides, what kind of excitement would he bring to a franchise that can't currently fill its arena?
Give up whatever combination of Nene who is so far nothing but a bundle of promise, J.R. Smith (this year's New Kid in Town), Andre Miller, Earl Boykins, whatever veteran contracts need to be exchanged to make the deal work and draft picks (the Nuggets haven't scored big there since Anthony) to make the boldest move in franchise history.
If the Nuggets want to play for the NBA title, landing A.I. is Absolutely Imperative.

Say no to the new Nick. I think it took long enough for that old bad smell to leave.

Sure, he's a trouble maker with a bad attitude living above the law and people throw money at him. People throw money at Haggard and Dobson too. I welcome the chaos and headlines he'll demand on a weekly basis. He'll create new jobs and stress to sports writers and the Penny Parkers reporting his every meal. Welcome to 5280.

Why give up anything more than spare parts? A.I. is not a team player, and a coach-killer, and has about 200,000 miles on the odometer. I don't understand the thinking behind offering both of our first round picks next year, which is one of the deepest drafts in memory. Remeber who we got last time we gave up multiple first rounders (K-Mart).

If Ebonics are a problem for you, you shouldn't be watching basketball. Nick, in his wild dreams, was not even half the player A.I. is. The Nuggets finally getting a legitimate chance at a title run is worth the headlines and chaotic interviews, not to mention some excitement returning to the Pepsi Center which hasn't been there since Roy retired.

AI fits into Karl's system: shoot and score, shoot and score. The Nuggets don't win unless they score 100 ppg.

I don't thik Iverson is a good fit with Camelo already on the team. The nuggets can not support two 30 plus scorers for long, sooner or later those too with have issues. Know iverson he is not likely to take a second seat to anyone, mostly to one as young as camelo. If we gotten labron than that chemistry will work far better. So as it is, i say no unless its a desperate move to fill seats in the pepsi center.

7:57... i like you generalization about AI. Why don't you go back to watching golf or tennis, that might sit better with your stereotypical white, snobby attitude.

Well we need more scoring. Not going get 15 to 17 pts per night from Camby, Najara, Miller or anyone else. We see what happens when Melo has a sub par night. Bring him on.

I think that any addition to improve a slightly mediocre team would be a big plus but A.I. is not the one!!! Why not sell the Nugs and the Rockies and divide the money between the AVS and Broncs??
